BackgroundThe use of telehealth steadily increases as it has become a viable modality to patient care. Early adopters attempt to use telehealth to deliver high-quality care. Patient satisfaction is a key indicator of how well the telemedicine modality met patient expectations.ObjectiveThe objective of this systematic review and narrative analysis is to explore the association of telehealth and patient satisfaction in regards to effectiveness and efficiency.MethodsBoolean expressions between keywords created a complex search string. Variations of this string were used in Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature and MEDLINE.Results2193 articles were filtered and assessed for suitability (n=44). Factors relating to effectiveness and efficiency were identified using consensus. The factors listed most often were improved outcomes (20%), preferred modality (10%), ease of use (9%), low cost 8%), improved communication (8%) and decreased travel time (7%), which in total accounted for 61% of occurrences.ConclusionThis review identified a variety of factors of association between telehealth and patient satisfaction. Knowledge of these factors could help implementers to match interventions as solutions to specific problems.

Abstract Introduction The COVID-19 pandemic has witnessed an increased reliance on telemedicine. Patient satisfaction is a key indicator of whether telephone consultations deliver high-quality care. This study evaluates patient perceptions of telephone consultations conducted in a single plastic surgery outpatient department. Method Structured telephone interviews using an adapted Telehealth Usability Questionnaire and the NHS Friends and Family Test were conducted in 98 patients who had undergone outpatient telephone consultations with a plastic surgeon. 13 questions explored domains of usefulness, interaction quality, reliability, patient satisfaction, and future use of telehealth. Results 72 of 98 (73%) completed the survey. Male(49):Female(23). Mean age 59 (range 17-91). 50.4% Strongly agreed (SA) and 24.3% agreed (A) to questions addressing usefulness of the platform. For interaction quality; 63% SA and 21% A. 47% disagreed with questions pertaining to reliability. Overall, 75% were either SA/A for satisfaction and 81% would use telehealth again. No significant difference was found in domain scores when comparing sex or age groups. Conclusions Overall, patient perceptions were positive towards the usefulness and interaction quality of telephone consultations. However, reliability scored poorly. Most patients were satisfied with the care provided. Comparison to other telehealth mediums e.g. video consultation and patient safety studies are needed.

We investigated the ease of use and usefulness as a measure of patient satisfaction, compliance, clinical benefit and its mutual relationships concerning a teletreatment application for chronic pain. Fifty-two subjects with neck and shoulder pain received and completed a four-week myofeedback-based teletreatment intervention. Prior to the onset of the intervention (at baseline) and immediately after the intervention they were asked to fill in questionnaires to measure discrepancies (gap scores) between expectations and experiences with the ease of use and usefulness of the treatment, as well as pain intensity and pain disability. In addition, the actual use of the system (i.e. the volume of muscle activity data available on the server) was logged. The subjects reported a significantly higher score on ease of use after the intervention compared to baseline, suggesting that the equipment was easier to use than they expected. Compliance was associated with clinical benefit. There was no significant relation between patient satisfaction and compliance. Patient satisfaction is a key indicator of how well the telemedicine treatment met expectations and compliance is important because of its association with clinical outcomes.

Asphyxia is an insult to the fetus or newborn due to lack of oxygen or lack of perfusion to various organs.1 National Neonatology Forum of India has defined asphyxia as gasping or ineffective breathing or lack of breathing at 1 min of life.2Birth asphyxia is one of the most important causes of neonatal brain injury whose incidence ranges from 3.7 to 9/1000 deliveries in the west.3 With the advent of therapeutic hypothermia (TH), improved outcomes are being reported in moderate HIE. TH, however, has not demonstrated improvement in outcomes related to severe HIE. . This has led clinicians and researchers to continue evaluating complementary and/or alternative therapies for infants with HIE. In this review, we will discuss current and emerging therapies in the management of HIE, other than hypothermia. With issues of access to health care and the burden of birth asphyxia shifting to developing and least developed nations, there is a need for alternative and supplementary neuroprotective agents. Low cost and easy availability along with ease of use would assist in ensuring that these therapies have global applicability. So global efforts must be taken to increase such studies as birth asphyxia is causing more morbidity & mortality globally.

Introduction: Depression is considered as one of the most serious health issues worldwide, and the search for the most effective and safe treatments for depression is essential. Aromatherapy with lavender have attracted the attention of many researchers due to their low cost and ease of use, so this study was conducted to review of the effects of aromatherapy with lavender essential oil on depression. Methods: This systematic review study was conducted by searching the databases (SID, Magiran, Google-Scholar, Medline via PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science) by using the keywords such as depression, Lavandula, Lavender, and Aromatherapy, as well as applying OR and AND operators to the end of January 1, 2020 A.D. The inclusion criteria were: 1) Interventional studies that determined keywords were in the title or keywords of the article, 2) aromatherapy was conducted through inhalation or massage, 3) the full text of paper was accessible, and 4) published in English or Persian. Finally, the information obtained from articles was extracted using a checklist. Results: Out of 278 studies, 9 studies were included to the systematic review process after screening and eliminating duplicate papers according to the purpose of the study. Aromatherapy with lavender essential oil was conducted on the patients suffering from migraine, patients with the acute coronary syndrome, patients undergoing hemodialysis, community-dwelling older adult, and postpartum depression. The results obtained from some studies showed the positive effect of aromatherapy with lavender essential oil on depression whereas some studies did not report the effect of aromatherapy with lavender on depression significantly. Conclusion: It seems that aromatherapy with lavender probably can be used as a complementary, simple, and inexpensive method to improve mild and moderate depression. It is recommended to earmark using a collaborative approach and make use of interdisciplinary and psychology specialists as well as complementary medicine in applying aromatherapy with lavender essential oil.
