Five mercury complexes were synthesized by condensation of mercuric chloride with different biologically active amines. In the present study D-amphetamine, L-amphetamine, DL-amphetamine, methyl-amphetamine, ephedrine, and tyramine were used where a stereoisomeric effect was observed during the formation of the mercury complexes. The complex compound synthesized from DL-amphetamine was found to be a mixture of the mercury complexes of D-amphetamine and L-amphetamine, and the difference in their solubilities was utilized for their separation. The estimation of the carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen content, the determination of the amount of chlorine and mercury, and measurements of the infrared absorption spectra at 700–3500 cm−1 indicated the ratio of 2:1 for amine to mercury in these coordination compounds. Further characterization of these mercury complexes was done by ultraviolet absorption spectra and conductance measurements.

In this paper the synthesis and the study of some complex compounds of Fe(III) with ligands derived from: 2-(4-chloro-phenylsulfanyl)-1-(2-hydroxy-3,5-diiodo-phenyl)-ethanone (HL1), 1-(3,5-dibromo-2-hydroxy-phenyl)-2-phenylsulfanyl-ethanone(HL2), and 2-(4-chloro-phenylsulfanyl)-1-(3,5-dibromo-2-hydroxy-phenyl)-ethanone (HL3) is presented. The characterization of these complexes is based on method as: the elemental chemical analysis, IR and ESR spectroscopy, Mssbauer, the thermogravimetric analysis and X-ray diffraction. Study of the IR and chemical analysis has evidenced that the precipitates form are a complexes and the combination ratio of M:L is 1:2. The central atoms of Fe(III) presented paramagnetic properties and a octaedric hybridization. Starting from this precipitation reactions, a method for the gravimetric determination of Fe(III) with this organic ligands has been possible. Based on the experimental data on literature indications, the structural formulae of the complex compounds are assigned.

The paper deals with the determination of the characteristic strength and the Weibull modulus m of Si3N4 and SiC ceramic materials using conventional four-point bending and unconventional contact tests between opposite rollers and opposite spheres. Ceramographic and fractographic methods were used for the characterization of strength degrading defects represented by processing flaws and by cracks of different types arising during the loading. The processing flaws influenced the Weibull parameters mainly in the bending mode, and the strength and its scatter in contact modes was influenced by lateral, median and contact end cracks, originated during the contact test using rollers, and by cone cracks originated during the contact test using spheres.

The synthesis of complex compounds of 4 - [(2,4-dimethoxybenzyl) amino] benzoic acid (HL) with ions of samarium (III), europium (III), terbium (III), gadolinium (III) and dysprosium (III). According to the data of elemental analysis and thermogravimetry, the obtained complexes are hydrates of the composition LnL3 · nH2O, where n = 0-2. The area of their thermal stability is in the range from 100 ° С to 150 ° С. Electronic and infrared absorption spectra of the ligand and complexes with rare-earth metal ions have been measured. According to the IR spectra, the coordination of the ligand with the metal ion occurs at the carboxyl group. The carboxyl group is bidentate coordinated. To excite luminescence, a line of a mercury lamp with a wavelength of 248 nm was used. The highest luminescence intensity is observed for the coordination compounds Eu3 +, Tb3 +, Sm3 +, and Dy3 +.

This paper presents the results of scientific research related to the electrochemical behavior of the complex preparation Enoxil. It was established that the oxidation-reduction process of Enoxil is quasireversible. The reactivity of Enoxil obtained from alcohol soluble enotannins is more pronounced, compared to that obtained from standard enotannins. The dependence of cathodic current intensity on Enoxil concentration is linear. This can be used to establish Enoxil concentration in solution. Cyclic voltamograms were used to establish reduction and oxidation potential and the formal redox potential on platinum electrode in sodium perchlorate aqueous environment. These features can be used for identification and determination of Enoxil in pharmaceuticals.
