Abstract We study charm production in charged-current deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) using the xFitter framework. Recent results from the LHC have focused renewed attention on the determination of the strange-quark parton distribution function (PDF), and the DIS charm process provides important complementary constraints on this quantity. We examine the current PDF uncertainty and use LHeC pseudodata to estimate the potential improvement from this proposed facility. As xFitter implements both fixed-flavor- and variable-flavor-number schemes, we can compare the impact of these different theoretical choices; this highlights some interesting aspects of multi-scale calculations. We find that the high-statistics LHeC data covering a wide kinematic range could substantially reduce the strange PDF uncertainty.

This paper described the application of a diffraction system based on X-ray area detector on pole figure measurement as well as corresponding computation of orientation distribution functions and the principle of rapid measurement texture. The impact of calculates the orientation distribution function on the conditions of the two-dimensional X-ray diffraction was analyzed; this was illustrated by an example of deep drawing steel sheets texture measurement. ̙̈́˰͇̱̓˰̶̴̿̾ͅ˰̸̱̈́̈́˰̷̱̹͂̿̈́̈́̾˰̸̵̈́˰͇̈́̿˽̴̵̹̹̱̼̽̾̓̿̾˰̴̵̵̳̈́̈́̿͂˰̈́̿˰̸̵̈́˰̵̱̹̱̀̀͂̿̀͂̈́˰̂θ position then fix it, reduce the sample rotation; the texture determination time can be significantly reduced. Reduce the Measuring range of angle χ˰̴̱̾ φ˰̴̵̿̓˰̾̿̈́˰̶̶̵̱̳̈́˰̸̵̈́ calculation of orientation distribution function, it also can significantly reduce the measurement of diffraction data. Several technical problems appeared on the on-line determination of texture based on an X-ray two-dimensional detector system and the possibility to improve the measurement speed and accuracy in the industrial production applications were then discussed.

AbstractThe extraction of the strange quark parton distribution function (PDF) poses a long-standing puzzle. Measurements from neutrino-nucleus deep inelastic scattering (DIS) experiments suggest the strange quark is suppressed compared to the light sea quarks, while recent studies of $$W^\pm /Z$$ W ± / Z boson production at the LHC imply a larger strange component at small x values. As the parton flavor determination in the proton depends on nuclear corrections, e.g. from heavy-target DIS, LHC heavy ion measurements can provide a distinct perspective to help clarify this situation. In this investigation we extend the nCTEQ15 nPDFs to study the impact of the LHC proton-lead $$W^\pm /Z$$ W ± / Z production data on both the flavor differentiation and nuclear corrections. This complementary data set provides new insights on both the LHC $$W^\pm /Z$$ W ± / Z proton analyses and the neutrino-nucleus DIS data. We identify these new nPDFs as nCTEQ15WZ. Our calculations are performed using a new implementation of the nCTEQ code (nCTEQ++) based on C++ which enables us to easily interface to external programs such as HOPPET, APPLgrid and MCFM. Our results indicate that, as suggested by the proton data, the small x nuclear strange sea appears larger than previously expected, even when the normalization of the $$W^{\pm }/Z$$ W ± / Z data is accommodated in the fit. Extending the nCTEQ15 analysis to include LHC $$W^\pm /Z$$ W ± / Z data represents an important step as we advance toward the next generation of nPDFs.

The deficit of subnational budgets and deceleration capital investments in multiple Russian regions increase the relevance of research aimed at improvement of tax incentivizing practice of the regional investment process. The studies focused on determination of the impact of socioeconomic and institutional factors upon the efficiency of investment tax expenses obtained wide circulation within the foreign scientific literature. The subject of this article is the assessment of sensitivity of the efficiency of regional tax expanses towards investment attractiveness of the types of economic activity carried out by the residents of territories of advanced socioeconomic development, created in the subjects of Far Easter Federal District. The scientific novelty and practical values of this research consists in substantiation of the reasonableness of assessment of investment attractiveness of the types of economic activity that are stimulated by tax incentives. Methodology for assessing investment attractiveness is proposed and tested. The conclusion is made that in case of low investment attractiveness of the type of economic activity, which was planned to support by tax incentives, it is required to conduct and additional analysis to avoid unjustified tax expanses.
