In recent years, we have been interested in the up-and-down prospects of academic societies, including both universities and academies. We have developed a University-Academy Coupling Model, which is built on the multi-agent simulation technique. In the artificial society, there exist both funding and "research seeds" that are requisite simultaneously for researchers to survive. The "seed" means a clue, source or new topic for his research activity. This paper focuses on how different efficiencies are observed in different types of organizing processes or personnel systems for research activity in universities.

Markets can show different types of dynamics, ranging from stable markets dominated by one or a few products, to fluctuating markets where products are frequently being replaced by new versions. This paper explores the dynamics of markets from a psychological perspective using a multi-agent simulation model. The behavioural rules of the artificial consumers, the consumats, are based on a conceptual meta-theory from psychology. The artificial consumers have to choose each period between different products. Products remain on the market for as long as their market share exceeds a minimum level. If not, it will be replaced by a new product. Simulation experiments are being performed with a population of consumats having different preferences. Results show that the dominating type of cognitive (choice) process has large consequences for the resulting market dynamics. Moreover, the size of the social network affects the market dynamics too.

With features of good interactivity and fast spread speed, unofficial networks play a significant role in knowledge transfer. Based on theories of communication networks and computational modeling method, the transfer situation of complex networks theory within Chinas learned societies, including its rising, spread and development, was modeled and then made simulation analysis by using the Blanche software. By comparing the analysis results with periodicals data from China National Knowledge Infrastructure, the effectiveness of the built model and the reliability of Blanche in multi-agent simulation research are all validated. Furthermore, the future development of complex networks theory in China is predicted as well.
