The method used in this research is quantitative method with several tests namely reliability analysis, classical assumption deviation test and linear regression. Based on the results of primary data regression processed using SPSS 20, multiple linear regression equations were obtained as follows: Y = 1,031 + 0.329 X1+ 0.712 X2.In part, the conflict variable (X1)has a significant effect on the employee's work spirit (Y) at PT. Medan Technical Benefits. This means that the hypothesis in this study was accepted, proven from the value of t calculate > t table (3,952 < 2,052). While the variable termination of employment (X2) has a significant influence on the work spirit of employees (Y) in PT. Medan Technical Benefits. This means that the hypothesis in this study was accepted, proven from the value of t calculate > t table (7,681 > 2,052). Simultaneously, variable conflict (X1) and termination of employment (X2) have a significant influence on the morale of employees (Y) in PT. Medan Technical Benefits. This means that the hypothesis in this study was accepted, as evidenced by the calculated F value > F table (221,992 > 3.35). Conflict variables (X1) and termination of employment (X2) were able to contribute an influence on employee morale variables (Y) of 94.3% while the remaining 5.7% was influenced by other variables not studied in this study. The Covid-19 pandemic that has been going on since March 2020 in Indonesia until the time this research was conducted has had a tremendous impact on all industries, including health services in general and hospitals in particular. The economic impact on health care institutions caused by the decline in patients at the beginning of the pandemic and the necessity to prepare personal protective equipment so that they must carry out efficiency and the risk of contracting disease for health workers and workers in hospitals can create feelings of insecurity (job insecurity). These feelings affect work morale (employee morale) and psychological barriers (psychological strain) of nurses as the frontline and can trigger a desire to resign (turnover intention). The online questionnaire was filled out by 110 nurses who worked in hospitals in Jakarta, Indonesia in the period leading up to the 1-year period of the Covid-19 pandemic (February-April 2021) faced by Indonesia. Classical Assumption Test with SPSS and PLS-SEM was used to determine the effect of job insecurity on turnover intention with employee morale and psychological strain as mediating variables. From the test results, it was found that job insecurity positively affects the turnover intention of nurses who work in hospitals in Jakarta. Employee morale mediates the relationship between job insecurity and turnover intention, while psychological strain is not proven to mediate this relationship. In conclusion, the turnover intention of nurses working in hospitals in Jakarta 1 year after the pandemic can be influenced by job insecurity conditions. Hospital management and policy makers also need to consider the moral and psychological aspects of health workers, especially nurses as one of the health workers on the front line

PurposeThis paper aims to demonstrate the value of combining the strategic planning process with psychoanalytically informed interpretation through an exploratory case study.Design/methodology/approachThe authors present their experiences and findings from a consulting engagement that began as a strategic planning assignment and soon evolved into an opportunity to explore unconscious forces inhibiting organizational change. The authors, trained in both areas, chose to infuse the two into a combined process that ultimately benefited the organization and suggested novel ways to think about the common process of strategic planning going forward.FindingsThe organization's strategic planning process was considerably enhanced, and its outcomes sustained, by illuminating the unconscious forces at work, particularly as they pertain to issues of power and authority in a male organizational culture found to have a profound negative influence upon the quality of the work environment and employee morale. Findings suggest that without a psychoanalytically informed approach, strategic planning would have failed to produce sustainable change.Research limitations/implicationsWhile the findings reported are from a single case study, the themes explored are likely shared across multiple organizations. There is, therefore, significant potential in combining strategic planning with a psychoanalytic approach to improve organizational effectiveness and employee morale.Originality/valueAlthough common in organizations, strategic planning is rarely augmented with psychoanalytic insights. This case study is the first of its kind to show how the two interventions may complement each other.

This paper shows that debt undermines relational incentives and harms worker morale. We build a dynamic model of a manager who uses limited financial resources to simultaneously repay a creditor and motivate a worker. If the manager can divert or misuse revenue, then debt makes the manager less willing to follow through on promised rewards, leading to low worker effort. In profit-maximizing equilibria, the firm prioritizes repaying its debts, leading to gradual increases in effort and wages. These dynamics can persist even after debts have been fully repaid. Consistent with this analysis, we document that a firm’s financial leverage is negatively related to measures of employee morale, wages, and productivity.
