Abstract Background: The Environmental service profession is hazardous, partially because of the work's inherently dangerous nature. Thus, injuries, accidents, and illnesses result in substantial financial and social losses. The most common immediate cause of these work-related incidents is unsafe work-behavior; the first step in taking steps to prevent unsafe behavior is to recognize the factors promoting it. The goal of this study was to (a) investigate the attitudes and perceptions of safety among the employees and safety managers of Corona virus treatment hospitals in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and (b) identify the factors that inhibit safe work behaviors.Methods: Two qualitative data collection approaches, namely key informant interviews and individual in-depth interviews, were used to collect data for this study. Twenty-five participants were recruited from three Corona virus treatment facilities using a modified convenience sampling strategy, and interviews were conducted to gain a detailed understanding of factors that serve as barriers to safe work behavior. The interviews were recorded and transcribed in Amharic (the local language) and then translated into English. Open Code 4.02 was used for thematic analysis.Results: Poor safety management and supervision, unsafe work environment, and perceptions, skills, and training level of employees were established as the major factors associated with the prevailing unsafe work behavior among environmental service employees.Conclusions: The present study showed that different types of personal and environmental factors may discourage safe work behavior among environmental service workers. To minimize or remove these risk factors for unsafe behaviors, the individual's obligation is important, but the role of management is critical in providing resources for safe work behavior.

The aim of this research is to find out and analyze the influence of individual factors, psychological factors and organizational factors partially on the performance of the Cleanliness Task Force employees, to know and analyze the influence of individual factors, psychological factors and organizational factors simultaneously on employee performance and to find out and analyze among individual factors, psychological factors and organizational factors that have a dominant influence on the performance of the Cleaning Task Force employees at the Balangan District Environmental Office. The population in this study was the cleanliness task force of the Environmental Agency of Balangan Regency with a total of 145 people and the research sample of 31 respondents or 22% of the total population and the method used in the sampling of this study used the census method. This type of data, is an associative research with quantitative paradigms with the application of SPSS and multiple regression analysis. The results of the first hypothesis are known to individual factors, psychological factors and organizational factors partially significant effect on the performance of Cleanliness Task Force employees, the second hypothesis testing is known to individual factors, psychological factors and organizational factors have a significant effect simultaneously on the performance of Cleaning Task Force employees and third hypothesis testing is known that the results of the research that partially tested were stated and proved in this study that psychological factors had a dominant influence on the performance of the Cleaning Task Force employees at the Environmental Service Office of Balangan Regency.Keywords: Individual Factors, Psychological Factors, Organizational Factors And Performance

The construction industry involves one of the most hazardous occupation for workers due to complex management processes, environmental issues, work pressure and heavy and complicated equipment involved in modern construction projects. Despite the advancement of technology in the construction industry, an escalating number of fatal accidents occur because of the human errors and the unsafe behaviours. In this research, an analysis for previous studies has been conducted to define all safety behavioural factors in construction industry for improving the safety performance in construction industry. All the studies were categorised in accordance with their methodologies, analytical methods, variables, and the findings in order to build an effective conceptual framework. The framework comprises of three main categories that incur direct impact toward the safety behaviour in construction industries, namely: (a) organizational factors, (b) safety climate factors, and (c) individual factors. Each category has own variables which make a total of 16 factors for all categories. The framework facilitates to assess the effectiveness of a construction industry, identify the deficiencies and the weakness, and create procedures to manage the accident in future by controlling the safety behaviour of employees.

Purpose – Relocation of utilities is a major source of delay in Indian infrastructure projects. This delay is particularly critical in road and bridge construction projects. The purpose of this paper is to identify the various factors and also the interrelationships between the factors which influence the delays in the relocation of utilities. Design/methodology/approach – Case studies were conducted on 11 road and bridge projects in India with varying levels of complexity and size. Factors causing relocation delays were identified using computer aided qualitative analysis methodology. Cognitive mapping technique was used to map the interrelationships between the factors and to identify the critical delay factors. Findings – Factors affecting delays were identified across two groups, namely, technical and organizational factors. The study offers insights into the kinds of interactions of factors that can lead to delays in a project. The critical factors causing delays were identified as slow response from utility agencies, difficulty in identification of underground utilities, lack of information on underground utilities and conflict between agencies. Research limitations/implications – The limitations of the study are that the interview respondents are not evenly distributed among the type of organizations which may have induced some bias in responses. The impact of the utility relocation delays on the overall project delay has to be detailed further. Practical implications – The interrelationships between factors has the potential to help the officials of highway department, contractors, utility agencies and others understand how various interactions/linkages of factors contributes to delays in utility relocations. Recommendations are provided for the practical use and to reduce the impact of delays. Originality/value – Utility relocation has received very little attention in the extant literature and this paper seeks to contribute to knowledge in this area by identifying the linkages between factors and the critical factors of utility relocation delays in India.

Deciding whether bid for the construction project is classic risk-based decision-making that is crucial to the survival and prosperousness of construction companies. More contractors are adopting group bidding decision-making to reduce the number of incorrect decisions. However, previous related studies mainly focus on project factors that overlook the members of bidding groups and the interaction between bidding group members. The aim of this paper, therefore, is to investigate the potential factors that influence group bidding decision-making for construction projects. Twenty factors relating to individual, group, and organizational levels are identified through a literature review and interviews with experienced practitioners. A questionnaire survey of 203 Chinese international contractors is conducted to obtain the importance of the factors involved. The results of the ranking analysis indicate 14 critical factors, among which “risk perception” and “team decision preference” are regarded as the two most significant. Moreover, 20 factors can be classified into five groupings: (1) values and strategic goals, (2) collaboration and learning orientation, (3) consensus reaching, (4) risk awareness, and (5) empowerment and development, with risk awareness having an especially strong influence. This research deepens the understanding of factors belonging to different organizational levels that need to be highlighted during the group bidding decision-making process and provides strategies for bidding groups and their companies to improve their decision performance.
