(1) Owing to their resistance resources, nurses can reduce the effects of stress, increase their commitment to work and improve their functioning in the face of challenges in the workplace. The aim of this study was to determine the mediatory role of a general sense of coherence and a sense of comprehensibility, manageability and meaningfulness correlated with global self-esteem and the perceived stress intensity in a group of Polish nurses aged 45–55 years. (2) The research using the diagnostic survey method was conducted on a group of 176 nurses (M = 49.1; SD = 3.1) working in seven hospitals located in Olsztyn (Poland). The following were used for data collection: Perceived Stress Scale - PSS-10, Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale and Antonovsky’s Sense of Coherence (SOC-29) Questionnaire. (3) According to 21.02% of the nurses, their stress level at the workplace was low, 44.89% reported it was medium and 34.09% reported it was high. The self-esteem of nearly half of the nurses included in the study (48.30%) was at a medium level, 31.82% felt it was high and 19.89% felt it was low. The mediation analysis showed that a general sense of coherence and a sense of comprehensibility, manageability and meaningfulness have a mediator status in a correlation between global self-esteem and stress intensity. However, their mediatory role is partial. It is desirable for safe work environment promotion programmes to reinforce nurses’ personal resources, which can be helpful in coping with stressors.

AbstractConfronted with an emerging infectious disease at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the medical community faced concerns regarding the safety of autopsies on those who died of the disease. This attitude has changed, and autopsies are now recognized as indispensable tools for understanding COVID-19, but the true risk of infection to autopsy staff is nevertheless still debated. To clarify the rate of SARS-CoV-2 contamination in personal protective equipment (PPE), swabs were taken at nine points in the PPE of one physician and one assistant after each of 11 full autopsies performed at four centers. Swabs were also obtained from three minimally invasive autopsies (MIAs) conducted at a fifth center. Lung/bronchus swabs of the deceased served as positive controls, and SARS-CoV-2 RNA was detected by real-time RT-PCR. In 9 of 11 full autopsies, PPE samples tested RNA positive through PCR, accounting for 41 of the 198 PPE samples taken (21%). The main contaminated items of the PPE were gloves (64% positive), aprons (50% positive), and the tops of shoes (36% positive) while the fronts of safety goggles, for example, were positive in only 4.5% of the samples, and all the face masks were negative. In MIAs, viral RNA was observed in one sample from a glove but not in other swabs. Infectious virus isolation in cell culture was performed on RNA-positive swabs from the full autopsies. Of all the RNA-positive PPE samples, 21% of the glove samples, taken in 3 of 11 full autopsies, tested positive for infectious virus. In conclusion, PPE was contaminated with viral RNA in 82% of autopsies. In 27% of autopsies, PPE was found to be contaminated even with infectious virus, representing a potential risk of infection to autopsy staff. Adequate PPE and hygiene measures, including appropriate waste deposition, are therefore essential to ensure a safe work environment.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore the experiences of nurses who have suffered from hurt feelings in their relationships with medical personnel in intensive care units (ICUs).Methods: Data were collected from May 2019 to August 2020 through individual in-depth interviews with 8 ICU nurses. Verbatim transcripts were analyzed using the MAXQDA program, employing a phenomenological method designed by Colaizzi. Results: Four theme clusters and nine themes were identified. The themes cluster that emerged were as follows: high-handedness from a lack of understanding and consideration, not being respected as a professional, having to endure sadness alone, and strategies for accepting pain. Conclusion: In ICUs, nurses are being emotionally wounded, resulting in a variety of hurt feelings, not only by doctors, but also by other nurses. Nurses were heavy-hearted because they wanted the participants to do their part and care for critically ill patients proficiently. However, they did not treat ICU nurses as specialized professionals. The participating nurses said they felt pressure, fear, and intimidated. In addition, they felt lonely because their head nurses, seniors, or colleagues did not protect or support them. This study helped develop a program to decrease the nurses’ emotional distress and create a safe work environment where they respected and cared for each other without undergoing anguish.

Introduction: Investigations of accidents in industry have shown that various factors affect the occurrence of accidents. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the prevalence of occupational accidents with individual and occupational factors in the industrial work environment of Qom province. Methods: This descriptive study was performed based on the incidents registered in the Labor Inspection Office of Qom Province in 2017. All cases were selected and 1048 cases were reviewed according to the accurate registration of incidents. Necessary parameters were extracted from accident reporting forms and their frequency and frequency percentage were analyzed by SPSS 18 software. Results: The highest number of accidents was in the age range of 20-30 years with less than 5 years of work experience. The lowest number of accidents was related to bachelor's degree and higher. In addition, a high number of victims (41.5%) were involved in construction activities. In the study of the working population, the highest number of accidents was related to workshops with a staff number of 10-24. In investigating the causes of accidents, 33.2% of accidents were identified as lack of safety training and 24.2% as lack of safe work procedures. In the group of equipment causes, the highest share of accidents was due to the lack of proper equipment and in relation to human causes, the main reason for the accident was the non-stopping of the device during repair. Conclusion: The results of the present study showed that demographic and occupational factors, such as age, work experience, and type of industry were very important in the occurrence of industrial accidents. In addition, it was found that managerial, equipment and human causes each have an effective role in the occurrence of accidents, which can be significantly reduced using more supervision by managers and recruiting safety and health officials, and finally observing safety principles in all areas of work.

Contextual nuance holds value for occupational health and safety, particularly as workplace challenges and solutions become more complex. However, disciplines that inform occupational safety and health vary in the degree to which they target breadth and depth of understanding. The future of work presents challenges related to work, the workplace, and the workforce, and an appreciation of the context of industry will ready researchers and practitioners with the most informed solutions. Broadly developed solutions for future of work challenges may flounder without an appreciation for the context of industry, as evidenced by two examples provided in this review. As occupational safety and health disciplines answer the call provided by the future of work, this review provides an account for the value of industry context and recommendations for achieving both breadth and depth of scientific inquiry and practical reach.

Over the past five years, work accident cases in Indonesia have continued to increase and reached the highest point in 2020 of 177,000 cases. This proves that steps are needed to reduce the number of work accidents by conducting a risk assessment in accordance with the main objective of K3, namely creating a safe work environment by conducting qualitative and quantitative assessments. This study aims to design a proposed improvement in the PAM JAYA building construction project by identifying the existing hazards and determining the level of risk using the Hazard of Operability Study method. The HAZOP method was chosen because its work is systematic, structured, thorough, and very suitable to be applied to the system newly implemented, in this study the PAM JAYA building construction project which has only been running for several months. This study finds 5 findings of extreme risk level hazards, 12 findings of highrisk level hazards, 2 findings of medium risk level hazards, and 1 finding of low risk level hazardsin the PAM JAYA building construction project. The suggestions for improvement given in this study are based on five hierarchies of risk control, such as Elimination, Substitution, Engineering, Administrative Control, and Use of PPE

Abstract. The research shows results of a medical and legal assessment on teachers rights of implementation to health and safe work during remote work. The driver of the transition to telecommuting was the COVID-19 pandemic; the urgency of distancing resulted in an increase in professional risks, a decrease in the quality of work and life of teachers. A survey was carried out of 436 respondents from 22 constituent entities of the Russian Federation in order to develop proposals for improving the legislation and organizing the protection of the health of teachers on the basis of studying their opinions. The data obtained by the authors confirm the hypothesis put forward by them about the insufficiency of legal regulation of remote work and the protection of workers' health, the unpreparedness of workers to self-regulation of the quality of work. It leads to the conclusions about the need to strengthen the role of the state in the regulation of teachers work and to ensure the protective function of labor law in terms of protecting the health of teleworkers, as well as a qualitative change in the normative regulation of preventive medical examinations of teachers.
