Stroke is a common and disabling global health-care problem, which is the third most common cause of death and one of the main causes of acquired adult disability in many countries. Rehabilitation interventions are a major component of patient care. In the last few years, brain stimulation, mirror therapy, action observation, or mental practice with motor imagery has emerged as interesting options as add-on interventions to standard physical therapies. The neural bases for poststroke recovery rely on the concept of plasticity, namely, the ability of central nervous system cells to modify their structure and function in response to external stimuli. In this review, we will discuss recent noninvasive strategies employed to enhance functional recovery in stroke patients and we will provide an overview of neural plastic events associated with rehabilitation in preclinical models of stroke.

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan aktivitas siswa dalam pembelajaran Akidah Akhlak melalui Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah di kelas IX E MTsN Olak Kemang Kota Jambi. Penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang dilakukan dua siklus yang terdiri dari: perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 32 siswa kelas IX E MTsN Olak Kemang Jambi. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan lembar observasi dan catatan lapangan. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif. Dari hasil penelitian ini diketahui bahwa pembelajaran akidah akhlak dengan pembelajaran berbasis masalah dapat meningkatkan aktivitas belajar di kelas IX E MTsN Olak Kemang Kota Jambi. Hasil analisis data menunjukan bahwa terjadi peningkatan aktivitas belajar siswa untuk setiap indikator yang diteliti. Peningkatan aktivitas siswa yang dimaksud adalah terjadinya peningkatan aktivitas siswa selama proses pembelajaran berlangsung. Siswa aktif merespon pertanyaan guru, mengemukakan alasan, menjelaskan kepada teman, mempresentasikan hasil diskusi kelompok dan membuat kesimpulan Kata Kunci: Aktivitas Siswa, Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah, Akidah Akhlak Abstract [Tittle: Improving Student’ Activity In Akidah Akhlak Course Through Problem Based Learning Approach]. This research was aimed to improve students’ activity in Akidah Akhlak through Problem Based Learning (PBL)at MTsN Olak Kemang Jambi city.This was a classroom action research which was conducted in two cycles in which each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation and reflection. The subject of this research was the third year students of MTsN Olak Kemang Jambi that consisted of 32 students. In collecting the data, the researcher used observation sheet and field note. The data then was analyzed descriptively.The result of the research showed that the use of PBL approach could improve students’ activity in Akidah Akhlak at MTsN Olak Kemang Jambi. After applying PBL approach, the students had a willingness to answer teacher’s questions, give opinions and plain them to the peers, present the result of the discussion and take conclusion. The main objective is an interpretation of the island parody, in particular a logical reconstruction of the parodying argument that stays close to the text. The parodied reasoning is identified as the proof in the second chapter of the Proslogion, more specifically, this proof as it is represented by Gaunilo in the first chapter of his Liber pro insipiente. The second task is a detailed comparison between parodied and parodying argument as well as an account of their common structure. The third objective is a tentative characterization of the nature and function of parodies of arguments. It seems that parodying does not add new pertinent points of view to the usual criticism of an argument.

Background: Limited studies concern the influence of obesity-induced dysregulation of adipokines in functional recovery after stroke neurorehabilitation. Objective: To investigate the relationship between serum leptin, resistin, and adiponectin and functional recovery before and after neurorehabilitation of obese stroke patients. The adipokine potential significance as prognostic markers of rehabilitation outcomes was also verified. Methods: Twenty obese post-acute stroke patients before and after neurorehabilitation and thirteen obese volunteers without-stroke, as controls, were examined. Adipokines were determined by commercially available enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits. Functional deficits were assessed before and after neurorehabilitation with the Barthel Index (BI), modified Rankin Scale (mRS), and Functional Independence Measure (FIM). Results: Compared to controls, higher leptin and resistin values and lower adiponectin values were observed in stroke patients before neurorehabilitation and no correlations were found between adipokines and clinical outcome measures. Neurorehabilitation was associated with improved scores of BI, mRS, and FIM. After neurorehabilitation, decreased values of Body Mass Index (BMI) and resistin together increased adiponectin were detected in stroke patients, while leptin decreased but not statistically. Comparing adipokine values assessed before neurorehabilitation with the outcome measures after neurorehabilitation, correlations were observed for leptin with BI-score, mRS-score, and FIM-score. No other adipokine levels nor BMI assessed before neurorehabilitation correlated with the clinical measures after neurorehabilitation. The forward stepwise regression analysis identified leptin as prognostic factor for BI, mRS, and FIM. Conclusions: Our data show the effectiveness of neurorehabilitation in modulating adipokines levels and suggest that leptin could assume the significance of biomarker of functional recovery.

Recovery of lower extremity (LE) function in chronic stroke patients is considered a barrier to community reintegration. An adequate training program is required to improve neural and functional performance of the affected LE in chronic stroke patients. The current study aimed to evaluate the effect of somatosensory rehabilitation on neural and functional recovery of LE in stroke patients. Thirty male and female patients were recruited and randomized to equal groups: control group (GI) and intervention group (GII). All patients were matched for age, duration of stroke, and degree of motor impairment of the affected LE. Both groups received standard program of physical therapy in addition to somatosensory rehabilitation for GII. The duration of treatment for both groups was eight consecutive weeks. Outcome measures used were Functional Independent Measure (FIM) and Quantitative Electroencephalography (QEEG), obtained pre- and post-treatment. A significant improvement was found in the FIM scores of the intervention group (GII), as compared to the control group (GI) (p < 0.001). Additionally, QEEG scores improved within the intervention group post-treatment. QEEG scores did not improve within the control group post-treatment, except for “Cz-AR”, compared to pretreatment, with no significant difference between groups. Adding somatosensory training to standard physical therapy program results in better improvement of neuromuscular control of LE function in chronic stroke patients.
