We report on the analyses of fluctuation induced excess conductivity in the - behavior in the in situ prepared MgB2 tapes. The scaling functions for critical fluctuations are employed to investigate the excess conductivity of these tapes around transition. Two scaling models for excess conductivity in the absence of magnetic field, namely, first, Aslamazov and Larkin model, second, Lawrence and Doniach model, have been employed for the study. Fitting the experimental - data with these models indicates the three-dimensional nature of conduction of the carriers as opposed to the 2D character exhibited by the HTSCs. The estimated amplitude of coherence length from the fitted model is ~21 Å.

Coronal mass ejections (CMEs) represent one type of the major eruption from the Sun. Their interplanetary counterparts, the interplanetary CMEs (ICMEs), are the direct manifestations of these structures when they propagate into the heliosphere and encounter one or more observing spacecraft. The ICMEs generally exhibit a set of distinctive signatures from the in-situ spacecraft measurements. A particular subset of ICMEs, the so-called Magnetic Clouds (MCs), is more uniquely defined and has been studied for decades, based on in-situ magnetic field and plasma measurements. By utilizing the latest multiple spacecraft measurements and analysis tools, we report a detailed study of the internal magnetic field configuration of an MC event observed by both the Solar Orbiter (SO) and Wind spacecraft in the solar wind near the Sun-Earth line. Both two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) models are applied to reveal the flux rope configurations of the MC. Various geometrical as well as physical parameters are derived and found to be similar within error estimates for the two methods. These results quantitatively characterize the coherent MC flux rope structure crossed by the two spacecraft along different paths. The implication for the radial evolution of this MC event is also discussed.

Resistivity measurements in external applied magnetic field up to 8.5T have been performed on Bi2Sr2CuO6+δ/CaCuO2 superconducting superlattices obtained by MBE. The magnetic field (H) vs. temperature (T) phase diagrams have been determined and the experimental data have been compared with that obtained in the case of Bi2Sr2CuO6+δ thin films deposited with the same technique. A reduction of the anisotropy has been obtained in the case of the superlattices with respect to the case of Bi2Sr2CuO6+δ thin films and a three dimensional behavior has been observed by paraconductivity measurements.

A detailed account of the nonmagnetic thermodynamic properties of the two-dimensional, anisotropic, antiferromagnetic, triangular Ising lattice, in the absence of a magnetic field, is presented. The notion of a disorder temperature, TD, is introduced via the exact integral formula for the logarithm of the partition function per spin, and the energy and entropy per spin are evaluated explicitly at TD. Study of the theoretical specific heat curves, and of graphs of the percentage of energy and entropy below the Néel point, shows that the close-packed antiferromagnetic triangular lattice has a qualitatively different behavior from two-dimensional loose-packed lattices. It is suggested that a similar situation will occur in three-dimensional close-packed lattices, and therefore that it is important to use a close-packed Ising model for comparison with experimental data on antiferromagnets which have close-packed lattice structure, or loose-packed lattice structure with higher neighbor interactions.
