ZSM-5 zeolite was synthesized by sourcing silica from wheat husk ash and was converted into its protonated form following careful, conventionally accepted ion-exchange method and calcinations. The H-ZSM-5 zeolite (Si/Al ratio = 30) prepared was appropriately characterized by XRD, FT-IR, SEM, TEM, TG-DTA, CV, and so forth, and evaluated as recyclable catalyst in selective organic transformations including three- and four-component reactions. The catalytic activity of the zeolite sample supposedly relates to increased density of the accessible acid sites.

Ag+/ZSM-5 catalysts were prepared by an ion-exchange method. UV-irradiation of theAg+/ZSM-5 catalysts in the presence ofN2Oled to the photocatalytic decomposition ofN2OintoN2andO2at 298 K. Investigations of the effective wavelength of the irradiated UV-light for the reaction as well as the in-situ characterization of the catalysts by means of UV-Vis, photoluminescence and FT-IR spectroscopies revealed that the photoexcitation of theAg+−N2Ocomplexes formed between gaseousN2Oand the isolatedAg+ions exchanged within the zeolite cavities plays a significant role in the reaction.

The intercalation of calcein into Mg/Al-NO3-LDHs and Zn/Al-NO3-LDHs by co-precipitaiton and ion-exchange method has been investigated. The obtained intercalation compounds were characterized by XRD, FT-IR and TG-DSC techniques. The results show that the original interlayer nitrate ions can be replaced by the organic anions under the controlled conditions. From the XRD data, the guest size and the orientation of anions between the layers were determined and after intercalation the interlayer spaces of the materials are expanded to 1.81 nm. FT-IR and DSC/TG curves reveal the presence of a complex system of supramolecular host-guest interaction and the increase of thermal stability of materials and the photochemical properties of compounds were studied by UV-Vis adsorption spectroscopy. These results indicate that the confinement of the UV absorbents in their anionic form within the restricted space of the interlayer region of LDHs is in favor of guest-host and guest-guest interactions, so that the UV aborption range and ability of the intercalation compounds are changed.

The nickel hexacyanoferrate decorated titanium oxide nanotube (NiHCF@TNT) was prepared by ion exchange method by mixing of nickel ion modified titanium oxide nanotube with a known amount of potassium ferricyanide under stirring over a period of 5 h. The resulting product was isolated and then characterized with XRD, FT-IR and SEM. The electrochemical behaviour of NiHCF@TNT was investigated by cyclic voltammetry using chitosan as stabilizing agent. The electrocatalytic property of chitosan protected NiHCF@TNT was carried out on electrochemical oxidation of paracetamol and caffeine simultaneously. The proposed method may be applied for the electrochemical detection of paracetamol in drug samples. _______________________________________________________________________________

Co3(PO4)2, AlPO4 and the binary system Co3(PO4)2-AlPO4 with different compositions were prepared by the coprecipitation method. The structural properties of these samples were determined using XRD, DTA and FT-IR techniques. The textural properties were determined from the adsorption of nitrogen at 77 K. The surface acidity was measured by a calorimetric titration method. The samples were tested as catalysts in the dehydration of ethanol and isopropanol using a pulse microcatalytic technique. The data obtained from XRD and FT-IR indicate the amorphous structures of the prepared catalysts. An increase in Co3(PO4)2 content led to a decrease in the surface area and in the total pore volume and an increase in the mean pore radius. The surface acidity of the catalyst depends on the chemical composition; the surface acidity increased with an increase in the AlPO4 content. The dehydration temperature and the distribution of acid sites are important parameters in determining the selectivity and activity of the catalyst.
