With the rapid development and extensive application of Web services, various approaches for Web service recommendation have been proposed in the past. However, the traditional methods only utilize the information of the user-service rating matrix but ignore the trust relations between users, so their recommendation precision is often unsatisfactory, and, furthermore, most of these methods lack the ability to distinguish the credibility of recommendation. To address the problems, we proposed a personalized service recommendation based on trust relationship. In particular, our approach takes into account user experience, interest background, recommendation effect, and evaluation tendency in the formalization of trust relationship, and moreover it can filter out useless or suspected services by exploiting trust relationships between users. To verify the proposed approach, we conducted experiments by using a real-world Web services set. The experimental results show that our proposed approach leads to a substantial increase in the precision and the credibility of service recommendations.

Web services are increasingly utilized in people’s daily lives to achieve various functionalities. Trustworthiness has become a critical factor for service provision and governance. The lack of effective trust establishment mechanisms impedes the deployment of diverse trust models for web services. One important issue is that collaborating organizations need mechanisms to bridge extant relationships among cooperating parties. Meanwhile, a trust establishment mechanism for web services must ensure privacy and owner control at all times due to the subjectivity of trust relationships. As an alternative and complementary approach to direct trust establishment, we describe an indirect trust establishment mechanism to bridge and build new trust relationships from extant trust relationships with privacy protection. Another issue is the lack of mechanisms that can directly establish trust relationships with privacy-preserving capabilities for web services. Current web service technologies encourage a service requester to reveal all its private attributes in a pre-packaged digital credential to the service provider to fulfill the requirements for verification. This may lead to privacy leakage. We propose a mechanism whereby the service requester discovers the service provider’s requirements from a web service policy document, then formulates a trust primitive by associating a set of attributes in a pre-packaged credential with a semantic name, signed with the requester’s digital signature, to negotiate a trust relationship. Thus the service requester’s privacy is preserved because only those attributes required to build a trust relationship are revealed.

The number of web services increased exponentially in the past decade. Identifying a set of best candidates from vast services is the first step of composite service recommendation. Much of the previous work focused on the accuracy and efficiency in service matchmaking and optimization. Little attention was paid to the logs of web service execution, which contain diverse information such as service functionality, QoS record, execution order, etc. In this paper, we present how we apply Bayesian approach in analyzing service execution logs and then recommend an optimized service sequence based on the original service sequence. Compared with the existing methods, the approach has two main advantages: first, the resulting service sequences are more robust and compatible; second, the result has higher (both explicit and implicit) quality. The authors also propose three algorithms that are based on the recommendation approach. At the end, the authors show the experiment results to illustrate how this work helps facilitate composite service recommendation.

Peer-to-Peer systems enables the interactions of peers to accomplish tasks. Attacks of peers with malicious can be reduced by establishing trust relationship among peers. In this paper we presents algorithms which helps a peer to reason about trustworthiness of other peers based on interactions in the past and recommendations. Local information is used to create trust network of peers and does not need to deal with global information. Trustworthiness of peers in providing services can be describedby Service metric and recommendation metric. Parameters considered for evaluating interactions and recommendations are Recentness, Importance and Peer Satisfaction. Trust relationships helps a good peer to isolate malicious peers.

In recent years, the number of web services grows explosively. With a large amount of information resources, it is difficult for users to quickly find the services they need. Thus, the design of an effective web service recommendation method has become the key factor to satisfy the requirements of users. However, traditional recommendation methods often tend to pay more attention to the accuracy of the results but ignore the diversity, which may lead to redundancy and overfitting, thus reducing the satisfaction of users. Considering these drawbacks, a novel method called DivMTID is proposed to improve the effectiveness by achieving accurate and diversified recommendations. First, we utilize users’ historical scores of web services to explore the users’ preferences. And we use the TF-IDF algorithm to calculate the weight vector of each web service. Second, we utilize cosine similarity to calculate the similarity between candidate web services and historical web services and we also forecast the ranking scores of candidate web services. At last, a diversification method is used to generate the top- K recommended list for users. And through a case study, we show that DivMTID is an effective, accurate, and diversified web service recommendation method.

This chapter reports on our experience of designing and implementing an architecture for protecting enterprise-grade Web service applications hosted by ASP.NET. Security mechanisms of Microsoft ASP.NET container—a popular hosting environment for Web services—have limited scalability, flexibility, and extensibility. They are therefore inade-quate for hosting enterprise-scale applications that need to be protected according to diverse and/or complex application-specific security policies. To overcome the limitations of ASP.NET security, we developed a flexible and extensible protection architecture. Deployed in a real-world security solution at a financial organization, the architecture enables integra-tion of ASP.NET into the organizational security infrastructure with reduced effort on the part of Web Service developers. Throughout this report, we discuss our design decisions, suggest best practices for constructing flexible and extensible authentication and authoriza-tion logic for Web Services, and share lessons learned.

In recent years, the number and size of Web services on the Internet have a rapid development. Industry and academia start to study the web service. In Internet resources, if the web cannot be found, the web service will become meaningless. So for web services, large-scale managements and problems are the keys of the study of Internet service resources. This paper studies large-scale distributed web services in network resources based on SOA architecture ideas. It also designs the unified management and organization system of ideological and political education which treat the ideological and political education as the content. It proposes SN network resource service model of ideological and political education. With the development and popularization of the Internet today, the study on Internet resources of ideological and political education in this paper provides a theoretical reference for the innovation of the ideological and political education.

Web service recommendation is one of the key problems in service computing, especially in the case of a large number of service candidates. The QoS (quality of service) values are usually leveraged to recommend services that best satisfy a user’s demand. There are many existing methods using collaborative filtering (CF) to predict QoS missing values, but very limited works can leverage the network location information in the user side and service side. In real-world service invocation scenario, the network location of a user or a service makes great impact on QoS. In this paper, we propose a novel collaborative recommendation framework containing three novel prediction models, which are based on two techniques, i.e. matrix factorization (MF) and network location-aware neighbor selection. We first propose two individual models that have the capability of using the user and service information, respectively. Then we propose a unified model that combines the results of the two individual models. We conduct sufficient experiments on a real-world dataset. The experimental results demonstrate that our models achieve higher prediction accuracy than baseline models, and are not sensitive to the parameters.

With the rapid development of Web services technology, more and more Web services emerged in the network. Service consumer attached importance to the functional properties of services, also more and more emphasis on non-functional properties, namely Quality of Service. The Ultimate goal is meet consumer the demand of QoS. Therefore, service providers paid more and more attention to quality of services to meets the needs of users. This takes into account the options to meet the functional requirements and the QoS requirements, and designed a Web service selection framework. At the same time, QoS attributes can be added or deleted the number, so it is an extendible framework. The results show that the framework could select the appropriate service for users.

Normally web services are classified by the quality of services; however, the term quality is not absolute and defined relatively. The quality of web services is measured or derived using various parameters like reliability, scalability, flexibility, and availability. The limitation of the methods employing these parameters is that sometimes they are producing similar web services in recommendation lists. To address this research problem, the novel improved clustering-based web service recommendation method is proposed in this paper. This approach is mainly dealing with producing diversity in the results of web service recommendations. In this method, functional interest, quality of service (QoS) preference, and diversity features are combined to produce a unique recommendation list of web services to end-users. To produce the unique recommendation results, we propose a varied web service classification order that is clustering-based on web services’ functional relevance such as non-useful pertinence, recorded client intrigue importance, and potential client intrigue significance. Additionally, to further improve the performance of this approach, we designed web service graph construction, an algorithm of various widths clustering. This approach serves to enhance the exceptional quality, that is, the accuracy of web service recommendation outcomes. The performance of this method was implemented and evaluated against existing systems for precision, and f-score performance metrics, using the research datasets.

A web service is a programmatically available application logic exposed over the internet and it has attracted much attention in recent years with the rapid development of e-commerce. Very few web services exist in the field of mathematics. The aim of this paper is to seamlessly provide user-centric mathematical web services to the service requester. In particular, this paper focuses on mathematical web services for prepositional logic and set theory which comes under discrete mathematics. A sophisticated user interface with virtual keyboard is created for accessing web services. Experimental results show that the web services and the created user interface are efficient and practical.
