Two new species of the family Pontellidae (Copepoda, Calanoida) from Arguni Bay, Kaimana, West Papua, Indonesia, with notes on their species-groups

Two new species of the family Pontellidae, Labidocera kaimanaensis and Pontella papuaensis, are described and illustrated from specimens collected in Arguni Bay, West Papua, Indonesia. L. kaimanaensis belongs to the L. detruncata species-group, is distinguishable from other species of this group by the very elongated Ur1 (urosomite 1) and the asymmetrical P5 in the female and the Pdg5 (pediger 5) and P5 in the male. P. papuaensis does not belong to any of the known five groups of Indo-West Pacific Pontella, in having Ur1 with a beak-like posterodorsal process and almost symmetrical Re’s (exopods) of P5 in the female, a rostrum with double convex lenses, the chela of the right P5 with a bilobed thumb, and the inner margin of that chela armed with a large process, in the male. The establishment of four new species-sub-groups of L. detruncata, i.e., L. d.-cervi, L. d.-farrani, L. d.-kaimanaensis, and L. d.-sinilobata, as well as the establishment of a P. papuaensis species-group, are proposed.

Eutarsopolipus burwelli sp. nov. and E. echinatus sp. nov. (Acari: Podapolipidae) are described from Nurus medius Darlington, 1961 (Coleoptera: Carabidae), a large burrowing carabid beetle found in the rainforests of coastal central Queensland, Australia. Eutarsopolipus burwelli belongs to the ochoai species group, which is herein refined, and E. echinatus is placed tentatively in the pterostichi species group. A revised key to the species groups of Eutarsopolipus is provided. The synhospitalic species of Eutarsopolipus are reviewed and synhospitality within the genus is discussed.

Two new species of the genus Agrisius Walker, 1855, A. orhanti Volynkin, Dubatolov & Kishida, sp. n. and A. leloii Volynkin, Dubatolov & Kishida, sp. n. are described from South Laos and Vietnam respectively. A. orhanti sp. n. belongs to the A. japonicus Leech, 1889 species-group. Whereas, the male genitalia structure of A. leloii sp. n. is intermediate between those of the A. japonicus and the A. guttivitta Walker, 1855 species-groups, therefore, it is assigned to a separated species-group (the A. leloii species-group). Agrisius dubatolovi Orhant, 2012 is downgraded as a subspecies of A. japonicus: Agrisius japonicus dubatolovi Orhant, 2012, stat. nov. Female genitalia of species of the A. japonicus and most of the A. guttivitta species-groups are illustrated for the first time.

The main goal of the present paper is to define the kozlovi-species group of the genus Trechus Clairville, 1806, one of the most species-rich groups of Chinese Trechus and to describe new species of this group from two neighboring areas in Sichuan Province. Description of species groups for Chinese Trechus is a way to get a more consistent view of the taxonomy of this extremely diverse genus. The kozlovi group includes many described species, which are widespread in Qinghai, Gansu and Sichuan provinces. In turn, the group can be split into several subgroups each embracing close allopatric relatives but much more material from various areas of China is required for such detailed classification. In the present work, we describe 9 new Trechus species belonging to this group, all collected in central and southern Sichuan, China: T. suopoensis sp. n. and T. gemaensis sp. n., both from the northern slopes of Mount Gema, E of Danba City, T. bianericus sp. n. and T. maoniu sp. n., both from the nortwestern slopes of the mountain massif located south of Bianer Village, WNW of Danba City, T. shangensis sp. n., T. mengensis sp. n., both from the upper valley of the small river located WSW of the village of Shangmeng, NW of Lixian City, T. cuspis sp. n. from the southern slope of Mount “5200” NW of Lixian City, three latter species from the left bank of the Zagunao River, T. qunlaishanicus sp. n. from the Qunlaishan mountains on the right bank of the Zagunao River and T. chiguguanensis sp.n. from the Chiguguan Pass.

AbstractTwo new species belonging to the genus Anastrepha, A. mayasp. nov. and A. relictasp. nov., are described. These species are noteworthy because they are closely related to A. tripunctata van der Wulp, an endemic Mexican species currently classified in the cryptostrepha species group, which may be the basal lineage of the genus. These new species come from several tropical Mexican localities and share several taxonomic characters found only in A. tripunctata. The eight known species of the cryptostrepha group are keyed, and a discussion of the phylogenetic relationships between this group and other species groups of Anastrepha is presented.

Two new species of the family Leptochitonidae, Leptochiton pumilus sp. nov. and Terenochiton nomurai sp. nov. are described from the tropical and subtropical shallow waters of the West Pacific. L. pumilus from the Philippines and Papua New Guinea has a net-like sculpture on the shell which is rather rare feature in the genus. In this genus, so far only three species have hitherto been known in the tropical shallow waters, in contrast to more than 130 other extant species which are living in the deep cold waters and high latitudes. T. nomurai from Ryukyu Islands is the second representative of the genus Terenochiton Iredale, 1914 which was recently reinstated for Leptochiton norfolcensis (Hedley et Hull, 1912), and is characterized by having rudiments of the insertion plates in all valves. T. nomurai closely resembles the type species, but differs in the arrangement of the aesthete pores on the granules of the tegmentum, and less developed rudiments of the insertion plates. L. pumilus c Филиппин и Папуа – Новой Гвинеи имеет сетчатовидную скульптуру на раковине, что является довольно редким признаком в этом роде. В этом роде только три вида известны до настоящего времени в тропических мелководьях, в противоположность более чем 130 другим современным видам, которые живут в глубоких холодных водах и в высоких широтах. T. nomurai из островов Рюкю является вторым представителем рода Terenochiton Iredale, 1914, который был недавно восстановлен для Leptochiton norfolcensis (Hedley et Hull, 1912) и характеризуется наличием рудиментов инсерционных пластинок на всех щитках. T. nomurai сходен с типовым видом рода, но отличается расположением пор эстетов на зернах тегментума и менее развитыми рудиментами инсерционных пластинок. Pygmy grasshoppers (Tetrigidae) are a speciose group of complicated taxonomy, with many species requiring clarification on their species boundaries, and more still awaiting discovery. Two new species of Scelimena Serville, 1838 are described: (1) from S. discalis species group S. gombakensis sp. nov. and (2) from S. hexodon species group Scelimena marta sp. nov. Catalogue of Scelimenini genera (15) and species (100) is presented and taxonomy and biogeography of the tribe are discussed. New and resurrected combinations are: Falconius becvari (Buzzetti & Devriese, 2008) comb. nov. (of Gavialidium becvari), Gavialidium carli Hebard, 1930 comb. resurr. (of Bidentatettix carli), Indoscelimena india (Hancock, 1907) comb. nov. (of Scelimena india), Paragavialidium nodiferum (Walker, 1871) comb. nov. (of Platygavialidium nodiferum), Platygavialidium productum (Walker, 1871) comb. nov. (of Gavialidium productum), Scelimena hexodon (Haan, 1843) comb. resurr. (of Hexocera hexodon), Scelimena rosacea (Hancock, 1915) comb. resurr. (of Amphibotettix rosaceus), Tegotettix bufocrocodil (Storozhenko & Dawwrueng, 2015) comb. nov. (of Gavialidium bufocrocodil). New synonyms are: Gavialidium phangensum Mahmood, Idris & Salmah, 2007 syn. nov. (of Eufalconius pendleburyi), Gavialidium philippinum Bolívar, 1887 syn. nov. (of Platygavialidium productum comb. nov.), Hexocera Hancock, 1915 syn. nov. (of Scelimena), Paracriotettix Liang, 2002 syn. nov. (of Scelimena), Paracriotettix zhengi Liang, 2002 syn. nov. (of Scelimena melli), Scelimena mellioides Deng, 2016 syn. nov. (of Scelimena melli), Scelimena wuyishanensis Deng, 2016 syn. nov. (of Platygavialidium sinicum). The genus Scelimena is divided into six species groups. Eucriotettix neesoon Tan & Storozhenko nom. nov. is new name for homonym Eucriotettix guentheri Tan & Storozhenko, 2017. Finally, a tabular key to 15 Scelimenini genera, based on 16 morphological characters, is presented.

Members of the family Coralliidae, known as precious corals, are ecologically and economically important deep-sea or-ganisms. However, these organisms are currently threatened by commercial harvesting. In order to create and implementeffective conservative strategies, taxonomic knowledge of conservative targets is necessary, but unfortunately the taxon-omy of precious corals in this family is still ambiguous. This study provides a review of 15 Coralliidae species from thenorthern West Pacific region and a key to species identification. In addition, descriptions of two new species, Coralliumcarusrubrum n. sp. and C. taiwanicum n. sp., as well as a redescription of C. sulcatum Kishinouye, 1903 are included.Corallium carusrubrum n. sp. is distributed on seamounts off northeastern Taiwan. The autozooids of C. carusrubrum n.sp. are retractile and each can be fully withdrawn into the cortex thereby causing a mound on the surface which is shortand cylindrical rather than typically hemispherical; additionally, there are no long spindles in their tentacles. Coralliumtaiwanicum n. sp. is distributed in an area off southwestern Taiwan. It has special unique 8-radiates with an oval shapeand large projections. Corallium sulcatum is distributed from an area off southwestern Taiwan to western Japan. It hasbeen harvested and traded for decades, but there were no illustrations in its original description, hence a redescription of this species is provided.

The pini species group in the genus Typhlodromus Scheuten, which includes 10 species, is described and discussed. Two new species are proposed: Typhlodromus bisoni, which was identified as T. pini previously, and Typhlodromus mahri. The generic concepts of various authors concerning the species in the pini group are discussed and a key to and descriptions of the adult females of the group are given.

Abstract Two new species of the genus Anthaxia Eschscholtz, 1829 are described: A. (Haplanthaxia) phobos sp. nov. (Thailand) and A. (H.) deimos sp. nov. (China, Laos, Thailand). Anthaxia (H.) phobos species-group is defined and a review of all the currently defined species-groups in the subgenus Haplanthaxia Reitter, 1911 is provided. New species are illustrated and the newly defined species-group is differentiated from previously defined groups.

A list of 13 species of the family Scythrididae collected during 29.IV.– 04.V.2000 in Tunisia is presented. Two new species are described: Scythris kefensis sp. n. and S. spectatorella sp. n.. Both of them are small, dark moths belonging to the subfasciata species-group. S. aciella Bengtsson, 1997 and S. azrouensis Bengtsson, 1997 are recorded for the first time from Tunisia. Further notes on these and some other taxa are given.
