Abstract Charybdis (Archias) hongkongensis Shen, 1934 was collected from the Indian coast of the Bay of Bengal and this is the first record from Indian waters. The distinct key characters of this species are: a relatively more produced last antero-lateral tooth, strongly convergent postero-lateral margins, and a smooth, rounded, reduced apex of the male first gonopod. This is the ninth member of Charybdis (Archias) Alcock, 1899 from Indian waters. The species is diagnosed and figured herein.

A new record of Plectropomus pessuliferus (Serranidae: Epinephelinae) wasdocumented based on morphological characters and DNA barcoding. The species was collectedduring a regular survey for making an inventory of reef associated fishes in Saint Martin`sIsland, Bangladesh. This is the first report of roving coral grouper from the marine waters ofBangladesh validated by morpho-meristic analysis and DNA barcoding. This is also the firstreport from the northern Bay of Bengal.

Abstract. This paper reports what we believe to be the first record of allogromiid foraminifers from coastal Indian waters. Two species from the Vellar Estuary on the east coast of India south of Madras are described and placed in a new genus Vellaria. The foraminifers live at or near the sediment-water interface and are characterised by the development of a flared, conical or trumpet-shaped apertural structure which apparently serves to attach the test to small sand grains. Allogromiids are delicate and inconspicuous organisms which may be more widespread in esturine and brackish water settings than is currently realised.

The present study reports a new record of two marine fishes Filimanus similis (Feltes 1991) and Naso unicornis (Forsskål 1775) from Bangladesh waters. The specimens were collected from Saint Martin’s Island and Cox’s Bazar fish landing canter, Bangladesh. The specimens were diagnosed by analyzing their morphometric characters and DNA barcoding. The study also reports Naso as the first species of the genus ever recorded in the marine waters of Bangladesh.

The irregular urchin, Metalia persica (Mortensen, 1940), a heart urchin of the family Brissidae, is reported for the first time from the southeastern coast of India. A single specimen was collected from fishing by-catch at Chinna Neelankarai (12º 56’ 29.7” N, 80º 15’ 36.6” E),  Chennai on April 5, 2018. Metalia persica was previously recorded only from the Persian Gulf (Arabian Gulf). This study records Metalia persica for the first time from Indian waters, in the Bay of Bengal, and elucidates features of the anal fasciole.

As part of survey of a BS (hons) study tour conducted by the Department of Zoology, University of Dhaka, two specimens of box crab were caught with a beach seine net from the northern beach in front of the Hotel Prince Heaven (20038’07.50”N & 92019’34.68”E) on new moon of 07th December 2012.  Those box crabs were identified as the Two Striped Box Crab Calappa bilineata Ng, Lai & Aungtonya, 2002 which is turned out as a new record for Bangladesh and a record for the northern part of the Bay of Bengal.

Abstract Porcellana persica Haig, 1966 was collected from off the Kerala coast, Arabian Sea, India. This is the first record of both the genus and the species from Indian waters. The taxonomic characters are similar to the findings of Haig (1966), who described the species, and possibly this is the first detailed report on the species after her original description.

A Callichiridae ghost shrimp species Corallianassa coutierei (Nobili, 1904) is recorded and described here for the first time from the Indian waters. Formerly, five species under the family Callichiridae were recorded from different coastal waters of India. In addition, C. coutierei was infested with several copepods. Additional description of C. coutierei with key characters and distribution status is given for this species. A comprehensive checklist of the infraorder Axiidea is prepared based on previous records from Indian waters.

Eurypanopeus orientalis was first reported in 1939 by Sakai in the Sagami bay coast of Japan. This is the first record in Indian Coast which expands in its known range.

Parafimbrios has been reported in Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. In this paper, based on morphological and molecular data, Parafimbrios lao was reported as the first record of a genus and species of odd-scaled snake in China. This record extends the extent of occurrence to 65,000 km2 and the area of occurrence to 20 km2.
