Mezoneuron is a genus of 24 species that has often formerly been understood to belong within Caesalpinia s.l., but which on the basis of recent molecular evidence, along with a number of other segregates, is now considered a distinct genus. Mezoneuron is broadly distributed, with its centre of diversity in South East Asia, but with species also in Africa, Australasia, and Hawaii. This is the first study to conduct a complete revision of the genus across its geographical range. A key to the species is provided, along with full species descriptions, distribution maps, preliminary conservation assessments, and selected illustrations. This study examines the morphological evidence supporting the generic status of the group, particularly of the fruit type, which has traditionally been considered its defining feature.

SummaryThe genus Thalictrum L. in New Guinea is revised based on morphological evidence. Full descriptions of the genus and the four taxa recognised are given. Two species are recognised: Thalictrum papuanum, widespread across New Guinea, and a new species described here; T. umbraticola, endemic to west New Guinea. Two new varieties are described: Thalictrum papuanum var. acutisegmentum and T. papuanum var. laticarpellum. One new synonym of Thalictrum papuanum var. papuanum is established: T. papuanum var. oranjense. Keys to the taxa and distribution maps, as well as preliminary conservation assessments, are provided.

Several taxonomic treatments of Styrax (Styracaceae) exist in regional floras of Asia, but the Asian species of the genus have not been comprehensively revised since 1907. A treatment of the Asian taxa of S. series Cyrta with imbricate floral aestivation was accomplished in 2003. To complete the taxonomic revision of S. series Cyrta, we conducted a taxonomic revision of the species of the series with valvate aestivation of the corolla lobes. Our revision comprises 11 species with a combined distribution from eastern India through southern China and Malesia, Melanesia, and Micronesia, although the group is absent from the Philippines. We resurrected S. bracteolatus, S. rubifolius, and S. warburgii as species to be recognized, and we corrected the misapplication of S. finlaysonianus, previously used for a species in S. series Benzoin. Styrax finlaysonianus and S. warburgii are segregated from the broader concept of S. agrestis recognized in prior treatments. The circumscriptions of the heretofore poorly delimited species S. confusus, S. faberi, and S. fortunei are clarified and their possible introgressants discussed. We observed unique combinations of characters in some problematic specimens whose taxonomic status remains unresolved because only single specimens with either flowers or fruits were available; at least some of these may represent undescribed species. Lectotypes are designated for Cyrta agrestis, S. argyi, S. bracteolatus, S. calvescens, S. casearifolius, S. confusus var. microphyllus, S. dasyanthus, S. dasyanthus var. cinerascens, S. faberi, S. finlaysonianus, S. formosanus, S. fortunei, S. fukienensis, S. henryi, S. henryi var. microcalyx, S. iopilinus, S. philadelphoides, S. rostratus, S. rubifolius, S. serrulatus var. agrestis, and S. virgatus. A neotype is designated for S. warburgii. Keys, descriptions, distribution maps, and conservation assessments are provided for all species. Styrax agrestis, S. bracteolatus, and S. rubifolius are rare endemics of conservation concern, with highly restricted distributions.

AbstractA group of externally very similar, grey species of the genus Nemophora Hoffmannsegg, whose females possess a brush of dark scales at the middle of their antenna, is revised. Five species of this group, all distributed in South-East Asia, are recognized: N. griseella (Walsingham) sp. rev. [= cyphozona (Meyrick) syn. n. ; = tricrates (Meyrick) syn. n.] from India, Burma and Nepal; N. ichnodesma (Meyrick) comb. n. from India and W Malaysia; N. cassiterites (Meyrick) comb. n. from India only; N. askoldella (Millière) [= irroratella (Christoph) ; = niphites (Meyrick) syn. n.] from China, S Korea, Japan, Khabarovsk and Primorye regions of Russia; N. chionites (Meyrick) comb. n. from India and Thailand. Data on all primary types are provided; lectotypes are designated where necessary. The monophyly of the group and the relationships of its species are discussed. Keys to species based on external characters and male genitalia are provided; adults and male genitalia are described and illustrated.

A revision of Dehaasia (Lauraceae) in Sumatra is presented. Eight species are recognized, including two newly described species (D. bandaharense and D. pilosa). A key to the eight species, descriptions and distribution maps of each species and illustrations of newly described species are provided. A neotype for D. incrassata is designated.

Ten new species of Globba from Thailand and Vietnam are described and illustrated; Globba amnicola, G. amplectens, G. conferta, G. dasycarpa, G. grandis, G. hilaris, G. impar, G. nitida, G. verecunda and G. williamsiana. Distribution maps and IUCN provisional assessments of each species are provided.

Background and Aims: Wurdastom is a little-known neotropical genus, which is poorly represented in herbarium collections. A historical summary,discussion about the tribal position, taxonomic review, and a conservation assessment of each species of the genus was carried out.Methods: Wurdastom specimens of 17 herbarium collections from Colombia (CAUP, COAH, COL, CUVC, FMB, HUQ, PSO, UDBC, UPTC, VALLE), Ecuador (QCA, QCNE), and the United States of America (CAS, F, MO, NY, US) were reviewed, and relevant type collections available at JSTOR Global Plants were consulted. An identification key, descriptions, illustrations and distribution maps for each species were developed. IUCN guidelines and criterio were used for conservation assessments of each species.Key results: In total, 52 Wurdastom collections were found in the revised herbaria. A new species from Colombia is described and new isotypes from the VALLE Herbarium are reported here for the first time. Wurdastom is a small genus of trees and shrubs from central-west Colombia to northern Peru where it grows in Andean and humid lowland tropical forests. The genus, which is assigned to the tribe Cyphostyleae, is characterized by the acrodromous venation, barbellate trichomes on vegetative parts and inflorescences, multiflorous thyrsoid or pleiothyrsoid inflorescence, haplostemonousflowers, petals ≤1 cm long, inferior ovaries, and capsular fruits.Conclusions: Wurdastom includes eight neotropical species, most of them with restricted distributions. One species is assessed here as Threatened (W. sneidernii), two as Vulnerable (W. cuatrecasasii, W. dudleyi), and the rest are treated as Data Deficient.

This study provides a taxonomic revision for Ceropegia sec. Huernia in the flora of Saudi Arabia. Forty-eight quantitative and qualitative morphological characters were analysed using principal component analysis (PCA), principal coordinates analysis (PCoA) and the unweighted pairs group using mean average (UPGMA) to separate and help delimit taxa. We proposed to reduce the number of names reported in Saudi Arabia from 11 to four species: C. arabica comb. nov.,C. Khalidbinsultanii comb. nov., C. laevis and C. lodarensis. This study also suggested reducing two of Plowes’ new names to a variety level under C. lodarensis (var. foetida comb. nov. and var. rubrosticta comb. nov.). A key to the species, detailed morphological descriptions, illustrations, distribution maps, ecology, etymology and preliminarily conservation assessments following IUCN criteria are provided.

The genus <em>Canthyporus</em> Zimmermann, 1919, is revised. A total of 35 species are recognized, all of them distributed within the Ethiopian Region, and with a centre of diversity in the South African Western Cape province. Descriptions of all species are given together with illustrations of habitus and male and female genitalia. A key to species (males), distribution maps, and ecological information are provided. Four new species are described from South Africa: <em>Canthyporus aenigmaticus</em> n.sp., <em>C</em>. <em>nimius</em> n.sp., <em>C. turneri</em> n.sp., and <em>C. wewalkai</em> n.sp. The species <em>C. congener</em> Omer-Cooper, 1956, is regarded as valid and not as a junior synonym of<em> C. canthydroides</em> (Régimbart, 1895). Lectotypes are designated for the following ten names:<em> C. alvei</em> Omer-Cooper, 1965, <em>C. consuetus </em>Omer-Cooper, 1965, <em>C. latus</em> Omer-Cooper, 1965, <em>C. lowryi </em>Omer-Cooper, 1965, <em>C. nebulosus</em> Omer-Cooper, 1965, <em>C. similator</em> Zimmermann, 1923, <em>C. simulator</em> Guignot, 1959, <em>C. testaceus</em> Zimmermann, 1923, <em>Hydroporus collaris</em> Boheman, 1848, and <em>Hydroporus hottentottus</em> Gemminger &amp; Harold, 1868. A parsimony analysis based on 32 morphological characters found 28 shortest trees. Monophyly of the genus <em>Canthyporus</em> is supported mainly by the presence of an anterior ligula on the ventral side of the elytron. Four species groups are recognized within the genus: (1) <em>canthydroides</em> group, including ten species in Namibia and South Africa; (2) <em>exilis</em> group, including four species in Lesotho and South Africa; (3) <em>hottentottus</em> group, including 18 species from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe; and (4) <em>lateralis</em> group, including three species from South Africa.

Abstract—Rogiera (Guettardeae, Rubiaceae) is a Neotropical genus distributed from Mexico to northern South America that includes shrubs, treelets, or trees, which were previously treated in the taxonomically controversial and confused Rondeletia complex. Rogiera can be recognized among other Rubiaceae by the combination of multiflowered inflorescences, heterostylous flowers, quincuncial corolla aestivation, a hairy ring at the corolla mouth, and capsular fruits with loculicidal dehiscence. Despite the recent taxonomic circumscription of Rogiera there is not a comprehensive taxonomic treatment to it. Moreover, regional floristic treatments disagree on the species circumscriptions, with discrepancies in the number of species of Rogiera from 11 to 20. Based on molecular and morphological evidence studied on field and herbarium specimens, we present a taxonomic revision of Rogiera. We recognize ten species; Mexico is the center of diversity with nine species, four of them endemic. An identification key, descriptions, distribution maps, nomenclatural history, phenological data, and illustrations of all the species in the genus are provided for the first time. Several names required lecto- or epitypifications designated here.

Bidessus migrator Sharp, 1882, so far assigned to Clypeodytes Régimbart, 1894, and widely distributed in Australia and New Guinea, is re-described. Based on morphological and molecular evidence, it is here transferred to Leiodytes Guignot, 1936. Bidessus loriae Régimbart, 1892 is found to be a junior subjective synonym of L. migrator. We describe the following new species: Leiodytes surianiae sp. nov. (eastern New Guinea, northeast coast of Queensland), and Leiodytes wattsi sp. nov. (southern New Guinea and Darwin area to northern Queensland). We delineate the species using characters such as male genital structure and beetle size, shape and color pattern. Mitochondrial Cox1 data for 27 individuals, representing all three Australasian species, were generated and revealed clusters congruent with the morphological evidence. In Australia Leiodytes only occurs in the tropical and subtropical northern part of the continent. None of the species is endemic to Australia. The species are mainly lentic, occurring in seasonal swamps, flooded meadows and pools of intermittent rivers and temporary creeks.
