Exploration of Serbian bryophyte flora considerably intensified during last decades, which brought valuable new data on species distribution for the country. Compiled chorological data from Bryo database allowed preparing updated list of moss species occurring in Serbia. Recent taxonomic and nomenclatural changes were taken into account, and taxa critically approached. Total of 638 species and 35 infraspecific taxa are reported for the country. List of taxa includes data on their presence in separate regions and counties of the country.

An annotated list of 31 moss species from the Polica Range in the Beskidy Zachodnie Mountains, Polish Western Carpathians, is provided. Of these, 15 species represent new records for this mountain range, while 16 species have so far been considered to be very rare or rare in this area. Tortula mucronifolia Schwägr. is excluded from the moss flora of the Polica Range and the Beskidy Zachodnie. Bucklandiella affinis is recorded for the second time in the Polish Western Carpathians. This species along with Schistidium trichodon var. trichodon is a new addition to the moss flora of the Beskidy Zachodnie, whilst Ditrichum pusillum, Meesia uliginosa and Schistidium elegantulum represent second records of the species concerned in these mountains. Four species of moss, Schistidium elegantulum, S. trichodon var. trichodon, Bucklandiella affinis, Syntrichia latifolia and Meesia uliginosa are known to occur exclusively in the Polica Range within the Beskid Wysoki. Distribution of all species in the study area is mapped and for some species distribution maps in the Polish Carpathians are provided. The moss flora of the Polica Range consists currently of 278 species and 5 varieties. The diversity of the moss flora in the Beskidy Zachodnie is discussed. The richest muscoflora has the Beskid Wysoki (355 species, 1 subspecies and 11 varieties) which is followed by the Beskid Śląski (304 species and 3 varieties), the Gorce (286 species and 9 varieties) and the Beskid Mały (260 species and 8 varieties). Within the Beskid Wysoki Range the richest moss flora has the Babia Góra massif (280 species, 1 subspecies and 11 varieties) and Polica Range (278 species and 5 varieties).

The background to and status of the genus Searsia F.A.Barkley (Anacardiaceae) is discussed and reasons given as to why it is the correct name for those Old World species in the Rhus complex fonnely regarded as subgenus  Thezera (DC.) K.Koch (section Gerontogeae Engl.). An annotated list of all the accepted 111 species and 28 fiirther infraspecific taxa in Searsia is presented, and where necessary, new combinations are made and types are designated.

The presented annotated list of 103 moss species is based on the results of bryofloristic investigation carried out in summer 2007 in the south-eastern part of Buryatia. Seven species are new for the moss flora of Buryatia: Dichodontium pellucidum, Didymodon hedysariformis, Grimmia anodon, Fissidens viridulus, Ortotrichum pallens, Rhodobryum ontariense, Schistidium liliputanum; three species: Haplocladium angustifolium, Jaffueliobryum latifolium, Plagiomnium acutum, are rare and included in the Red Data Book of Republic of Buryatia. The records of very rare species Bryoerythrophyllum inaequalifolia, Hilpertia velenovsyi and Lindbergia brachyptera are very interesting (Afonina, 2008).

The first annotated list of mosses of the planned Kaita Nature Reserve with 139 species and 1 variety was compiled. Rare species (Leucodon sciuroides, Philonotis caespitosa, Schistidium apocarpum, Sphagnum annulatum, Sphagnum inundatum, Splachnum rubrum et al.) have been found. One species (Orthotrichum speciosum) is listed in Red Data Book of the Murmansk Region (Krasnaya…, 2003). Half of the recorded moss species often occur throughout the Murmansk Region. The lists of mosses of the planned Kaita Nature Reserve and two neighboring protected areas (Lapland and White Sea part of Kandalaksha Strict Nature Reserves) were compared.

The original checkelist of mosses for Paraguay listed 137 species for the country, based on literature reports. An updated checklist has been compiled here, with corrections and additional names added from recent literature records, and in some cases from herbarium records. A total of 240 moss species, including 8 infraspecific taxa, from 94 genera and 38 families are now recorded for Paraguay. This total includes 8 published nomina nuda and 9 taxa that are listed as present in the country but which lack any specific locality reference. Forty-three taxa are apparent endemics to Paraguay and warrant further taxonomic evaluation. The 240 taxa now recorded for Paraguay are listed here along with relevant bibliographical or locality references. A supplementary list of synonyms is also included.

The mainly Southeast Asian genus Pseudodissochaeta (Melastomataceae, Dissochaeteae) is revised based on a study of herbarium collections. The relationships of Pseudodissochaeta to Dissochaeta and Medinilla are discussed and some important characters distinguishing it from its relatives, including habit, leaf base and margin and floral characters, are provided. Five species are recognized without any infraspecific taxa. A key to the species, descriptions of each species, distribution (maps), ecology, habitat, images and a list of the specimens examined are given.

In the Republic of Bashkortostan, 13 epilithic moss species belonging to the genus Grimmia Hedw. have been found. An annotated list of species with information about the number of findings in different vegetation zones and a brief description of habitat conditions, as well as distribution map of species are provided. In study area, Grimmia species are more common in areas with volcanic rocks outcrops, i. e. the central part and the eastern slope of the Southern Urals, as well as in the Bashkir Trans-Urals. Habitat conditions of G. laevigata, G. longirostris and G. muehlenbeckii differ significantly by temperature and humidity. The species G. plagiopodia G. teretinervis, G. alpestris, G. anomala and G. tergestina are rare in Bashkortostan and recommended to be included in the appendix to the Red Data Book of the republic.
