Lepanthes marielana, a new orchid species of the eastern Andes of Colombia, is described and illustrated. The new species is similar to Lepanthes clausa, also from the eastern Andes, but it can be distinguished by the echinate floral bracts, the light yellow with a central claret blotch flowers, the blades of the lip subfalcate with the apices surrounding the apex of the column and by the lip appendix subtriangular to oblong. Taxonomic and ecological notes are given.

A new species of Cribraria, described herein as C. bicolor, appeared in moist chamber cultures on samples of the bark of Eucalyptus sp. collected at two localities in Australia. The morphology of representative specimens was examined by light and scanning electron microscopy, and micrographs of relevant morphological details of sporocarps and spores are provided. The species has a number of distinct and unique morphological features, including a glossy bright-violet globose sporotheca and a two-colored long stalk which is bright-red over the lower one-third and light yellow or lemon-yellow over the upper two-thirds. The combination of these characteristics as well as a shallow calyculus which is dark-violet when viewed under a dissecting microscope and bright red in transmitted light when mounted in lactophenol makes C. bicolor a well-defined morphospecies when compared to all other species of Cribraria. The stability of the taxonomic characters of the species was confirmed by an examination of a number of specimens.

The orchid flora of Myanmar is highly diverse but as yet poorly known in the continental Asia, which is largely a result of periods of past instability and political isolation of the country. Also the remoteness of many orchid-rich areas and the difficulties of investigation in rugged terrain have also played a role (Ormerod & Kumar, 2003; Kurzweil & Lwin, 2014). According to recent estimates about 800 orchid species are distributed in Myanmar (Kurzweil & Lwin, 2014), which were probably underestimated. Many new distribution records and new species have been published in the last few years (Ormerod, 2002, 2006, 2012; Ormerod & Kumar, 2003, 2008; Ormerod & Wood, 2010; Nyunt, 2006; Kurzweil et al., 2010; Kurzweil & Lwin, 2012a,b; Tanaka et al. 2011).

Puya colcaensis is described and illustrated as a new species found in the Province of Caylloma (Arequipa) in southern Peru. This species has a compound inflorescence, bluish-green flowers, with pedicels smaller than 1.5 cm, which are exceeded by the floral bracts, and sepals with dense stellate trichomes. It is similar to P. araneosa and P. adscendens.

Habenaria luquanensis from Yunnan Province is described and illustrated. This new species most closely resembles H. delavayi in having a basal leaf rosette, flowers with a concave and abaxially keeled dorsal sepal and linear petals. It is distinguished by herbaceous, loosely arranged rosette leaves (versus tightly adpressed to each other), a lip which is 3-lobed only to 1/3–1/4 from the base and has narrowly oblong lateral lobes (versus deeply 3-lobed nearly to the base with linear-cuneate lateral lobes). Another similar species is H. finetiana, but this species can be distinguished by its cauline leaves, longer floral bracts, petals forming a hood with the dorsal sepal, a lip which is 3-lobed only in the upper half and  rhombic, serrate lateral lobes, a spur which is nearly as long as the ovary, and central rostellum lobe not clearly visible.

Dendrobium mizanii, a new species to science belonging to Dendrobium Sect. Calcarifera was discovered in a summit region of a disturbed montane forest in Setiu, Terengganu, and named after His Majesty Sultan of Terengganu, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin. A description, illustration, field and comparison with the closely related species D. crocatum from Peninsular Malaysia and D. doloissumbinii from Borneo are provided here.

Odontochilusputaoensis, a new species of Orchidaceae, is described and illustrated from Putao Township, Kachin State, Myanmar.Odontochilusputaoensisis close toO.duplex, but can be easily distinguished from the latter by having a light yellow lip, a bisaccate hypochile with a small, erect, blade-like and emarginate callus within each sac, a mesochile with a pair of dentate-pectinate flanges and a bilobed epichile with a pair of widely diverging lobes that are erect and concave. An identification key to the Southeast Asian species ofOdontochilusand colour photographs ofO.putaoensisare provided. A preliminary conservation assessment according to the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria is given for the new species.

In this study, we describe a new orchid species, Goodyera malipoensis, from Yunnan, China. We have performed morphological and molecular analyses on this new species. A detailed comparison between the newly discovered orchid and other members of Goodyera was conducted. The new plant is characterized by having a dense brownish green pubescence on the peduncle. Its ovate-lanceolate petal is unique in Goodyera genus. The hypochile is deeply concave-saccate, and inside there are two papillose rows on each side. These features distinguish the new orchid from all other known species of Goodyera. The molecular study based on nuclear ribosomal ITS sequence data and morphological differences support G. malipoensis as a distinct species.

The new species Salvia wixarika from Sierra Madre Occidental region (northern Jalisco, Mexico) is here described and illustrated. This is one of the few Mexican species characterized by having corollas entirely white. It is morphologically related to S. sphacelifolia but differs by the absence of glandular-capitate hairs, leaf shape, floral bract length, pedicel length, number of veins in the upper calyx lip, filament length, connective and style length. It is also similar to S. collinsii but differs in size and duration of floral bracts, pedicel length, calyx width, corolla length, lower lip size, filament length, connective length, theca and style length. Additionally, the updated descriptions of S. collinsii and S. sphacelifolia are provided.

A new orchid, Calanthe tsiana, is described from southeastern Yunnan, China, based on morphological and DNA evidence. In morphological comparisons, C. tsiana is similar to C. arisanensis, but it differs in having subspatulate petals and falcate-obovate lateral lobes of lip with one ridge on the disk. The phylogenetic analyses based on nuclear ribosomal ITS and plastid DNA (rbcL, matK and trnL-trnF) place C. tsiana with C. arisanensis as sister species and support C. tsiana as a new species.

After examining morphological, molecular and genome-size evidence, we describe and illustrate a new orchid species, Apostasia fogangica, from Guangdong, China. Morphological comparisons indicate that A. fogangica is similar to A. shenzhenica, although the habit, leaves, inflorescences and fruit shapes and sizes differ. Comparison of the genome sizes in Apostasioideae show that A. fogangica is 1C=0.952 pg, which is double the size of A. shenzhenica but close to that of A. wallichii. Molecular analyses from combined nuclear and plastid datasets (ITS, matK and trnL-F) indicate that A. fogangica is sister to A. nipponica plus A. shenzhenica. The morphological, genome-size and molecular evidence support the hypothesis that A. fogangica is a new species.
