Henckelia inaequalifolia, a new species in the genus Henckelia of the family Gesneriaceae is described here. The detailed morphological description, photographic illustration and geographical distribution of the new species are provided. Its morphological affinities between related species are also discussed in this paper.

In this study, Fritillaria arsusiana (Liliaceae) is described and illustrated as a new species from Hatay province in southern Anatolia, Turkey. It is related to F. amana and F. hermonis by habitus features and broadly campanulate flowers, but differs mainly by its bulb shape and size, smaller leaf and flower features, and flower colour. It has also been morphologically compared with F. wendelboi, F. pinardii, and F. latakiensis. The detailed description, diagnostic characters, original photographs, geographical distribution, habitat and phenology, etymology, conservation status, and identification key of the new and the related species are presented in this study. IUCN conservation status of F. arsusiana is suggested as Critically Endangered (CR).

We describe a new species of Gomesa (Oncidiinae, Orchidaceae), Gomesa caatingana, with restricted distribution on caatinga inselbergs in Paraíba and Pernambuco States, Brazil. Morphological and karyological characters of the new species were compared with those of Gomesa flexuosa, which is morphologically the most closely related species. Differences in geographical distribution, habit, flower morphology and chromosome number support description of this new species.

A new species, Muscari fatmacereniae Eker sp. nov. (Asparagaceae), is described from Turkey. The diagnostic characters, description, detailed illustration, original photographs and geographical distribution of the new species are given. The conservation assessment, observations and taxonomic comments on the new species are also presented. The new species is compared with the closely related species M. armeniacum and M. botryoides.

Myrcia arenaria, a new species of Myrcia sensu lato, is described, illustrated and compared with related species. The species is recognized by a combination of characters, which include elliptic to oval foliar blades, flower buds tearing at anthesis into 3 irregular lobes or 5 regular lobes; lobes  obovate, apiculate, sericeous at the base and flowers without petals. This taxon seems to be restricted to the coastal areas of northeastern Brazil, growing in the restingas located in the states of Alagoas, Bahia, Pernambuco, and Sergipe. Additionally, we also proposed the synonymization of Marlierea leal-costae with Psidium amplexicaule. We also present a map showing the geographical distribution of the species.

A new species of freshwater Amphipod, Gammarus topkarai sp. nov., collected from Ivriz Creek, Tarsus Province, South Anatolia, is described and illustrated. The new species belongs to Gammarus pulex-group and shows similar characteristic features with Gammarus agrarius G. S. Karaman, 1973. Absence of well developed dorsal elevations on the urosome segments, smaller body length and relatively lower endopod/exopod ratio of third uropod are the most obvious features differ from G. agrarius. A detailed morphological description and illustrations of new species are given and differences from related species are discussed. An updated identification key of Gammarus taxa reported from Turkey, up to date, was also presented.

AbstractThe new corticolous lichen fungus Platythecium seychellense is described from the Seychelles. Morphological characters as well as distribution and resemblance to related species are discussed. The species is characterized by a crustose, grey-green, smooth thallus lacking lichen substances, elongate and slender apothecia having flat, red-brown discs and grey 3-septate ascospores. A world key to all currently known species in the genus is presented.

Morphologically, this new species is characterized by the combination of an inflated and regularly 6-lobed fruiting calyx with erect, triangular, aristate, and hooked lobes. We studied the quill mite fauna of the family Syringophilidae, associated with bee-eaters. We examined 273 bird specimens belonging to nine closely related species of the genus Merops, representing two phylogenetic sister clades of a monophyletic group. Our examination reveals the presence of two species of the genus Peristerophila, as follows: (1) a new species Peristerophila mayri sp. n. from Merops viridis in the Philippines, M. leschenaulti in Nepal and Sri Lanka, and M. orientalis in Sri Lanka; and (2) P. meropis from M. superciliosus in Tanzania and Egypt, M. persicus in Sudan, Tanzania, Liberia, Senegal, Kenya, and D.R. Congo, M. ornatus in Papua New Guinea, M. philippinus in Thailand, Indonesia and Sri Lanka, and M. americanus in the Philippines. The prevalence of host infestations by syringophilid mites varied from 3.1 to 38.2%. The distribution of syringophilid mites corresponds with the sister clade phylogenetic relationships of the hosts, except for P. meropis associated with Merops americanus. Possible hypotheses for the host lineage shift are proposed.

A new species, Queskallion saetosumsp. nov., is described herein from Sichuan Province, China. It is diagnosed from a closely related species, Q. tangi Smetana, 2015. Color images and line drawings of the adult of the new species, as well as its genitalia are provided. In addition, a checklist of species, an updated key to species and a geographical distribution map of all known species in the genus Queskallion Smetana are included.

In this paper, a new species, Muscari tauricum sp. nov. is described and illustrated from Southern Turkey. It has similar morphological characters to M. aucheri and M. bourgaei except for its broad and several leaves, pyramidal raceme, patent and longer pedicels, small fertile flowers, and early flowering time that distinguish the new species from other Muscari species. A complete morphological description and illustration are given, including comments on karyotypes. The morphological differences among the new species and related species are also discussed.
