Helichus cordubensis Berg, 1885 is redescribed based on type material and new material. A lectotype is designated for this species. Male genitalia are illustrated for the first time.

Males of Zamora granulata Roewer, 1928—a species known from Zamora, Ecuador—are reported for the first time. Thestudy of this species, especially the male genitalia, along with all species of Zamorinae Kury, 1997, allowed to reach thefollowing conclusions: 1) Zamora vulcana Kury, 1997, from Cotopaxi, Ecuador, does not belong to Zamora and istransferred to Rivetinus Roewer, 1914; 2) Zamora granulata, the name-bearer of Zamorinae, is not an Agoristenidae andtherefore Zamorinae is placed in Cranaidae; 3) Zamorinae is redefined based on previously unavailable information frommale genitalia; (4) some genera hitherto placed in Zamorinae which present a combination of a generalized gonyleptoidhabitus plus an agoristenid genitalia (which includes Globibunus Roewer, 1912 and Rivetinus), are placed in Globibuninaesubfam. nov. Based on the examination of the holotype of Prostygnus vestitus Roewer, 1913 (from Ecuador, notColombia, nor Venezuela), and new material of Cutervolus albopunctatus Roewer, 1957, the Prostygninae are restrictedto Cutervolus Roewer, 1957 and Prostygnus Roewer, 1913, with distribution accordingly restricted to southern Ecuadorand northern Peru. Iconographic complements are made on the type species of these two genera, and their male genitaliaare illustrated for the first time. All other Prostygninae are considered Gonyleptoidea incertae sedis. Emended diagnoses are provided for Globibuninae, Prostygninae and Zamorinae.

The adult morphology of male Paramorganiella adventurosa Tonnoir is redescribed on the basis of new material from Tasmania. Details of the male genitalia are described and figured for the first time. The female is described for the first time. Special attention is paid to the clypeus and maxillary palpus, both sexually dimorphic, of which the anatomy is extensively illustrated and discussed with respect to possible function and in the context of palpal modifications found in other Mycetophilidae. Anatomy suggests the palpi of males function as a mechanical tool rather than a probing organ, which is unique among Mycetophilidae and Diptera. Various functional hypotheses are discussed in the context of sexual selection.

A complete list of the type material of Mordellidae described by Achille Costa is provided. Mordellistena picipes Costa, 1854 stat. restit. is restored as a valid species and a diagnostic description of the lectotype is given. Natirrica meridionalis Costa, 1854 is proposed as a new synonym of Mordellistena humeralis (Linnaeus, 1758). Lectotypes and paralectotypes are designated for the following taxa: Tomoxia bucephala Costa, 1854; Mordella coronata Costa, 1854 (= Variimorda villosa (Schrank, 1781)); M. interrupta Costa, 1854 (= Variimorda villosa (Schrank, 1781)); M. brevicauda Costa, 1854 (= M. brachyura Mulsant, 1856); M. perspicillata Costa, 1854 (= Mediimorda bipunctata Germar, 1827); M. viridescens Costa, 1859; Variimorda basalis (Costa, 1854); Mordellistena stricta Costa, 1854 (= M. pumila (Gyllenhal, 1810)); M. picipes Costa, 1854; M. confinis Costa, 1854; M. minima Costa, 1854; Natirrica meridionalis Costa, 1854 (= Mordellistena humeralis (Linnaeus, 1758)). The male genitalia of the Variimorda basalis lectotype are illustrated here for the first time. Photographs of the labels are provided for the type specimens.

A revision of the Central American species of the genus Brachiacantha was undertaken to update the knowledge of the Central American species of the genus. Material of several collections was reviewed, using original descriptions and keys, and comparing with the type material. Twenty-five species of the genus Brachiacantha were found in Central American material, including nine new species: B. nubes Nestor-Arriola, Toledo-Hernández and Solís, sp. nov., B. dentata Nestor-Arriola, Toledo-Hernández and Solís, sp. nov., B. isthmena Nestor-Arriola, Toledo-Hernández and Solís, sp. nov., B. aurantiapleura Nestor-Arriola, Solís and Toledo-Hernández, sp. nov., B. invertita Nestor-Arriola, Toledo-Hernández and Solís, sp. nov., B. papiliona Nestor-Arriola, Toledo-Hernández and Solís, sp. nov., B. tica Nestor-Arriola, Toledo-Hernández and Solís, sp. nov., B. hexaspina González, Větrovec and Nestor-Arriola, sp. nov., and B. mimica Nestor-Arriola and Toledo-Hernández, sp. nov. Nomenclatural changes include Brachiacantha gorhami (Weise), comb. nov., B. guatemalensis (Gorham), comb. nov., and Brachiacantha duodecimguttata Leng, syn. nov. for B. lepida Mulsant. The male genitalia of the species B. fenestrata Gorhan, B. octostigma Mulsant, B. aperta Weise, and B. cachensis Gorhan are described and illustrated for the first time. New records include B. indubitabilis Crotch and B. bipartita Mulsant (Costa Rica and Guatemala), B. gorhami (Weise) (El Salvador), and B. cachensis Gorham (Panamá). A key to the species is included.

The species belonging to the subgenus Molopsis Schatzmayr, 1943 of genus Tapinopterus Schaum, 1858 are revised. Thestudy is based on 372 specimens and includes, for each taxon, diagnosis, description (only for the new species), references,new distributional records and illustrations. Morphological characters of the male and female genitalia are widely used todelimit the separate species, the significance of some non-gonapophyseal genital structures of the females for the system-atics of Molopsis is explicitly emphasized. For the first time, the male genitalia of T. molopiformis, T. molopinus, T. wie-demanni, and T. rebellis, including also newly described species, as well as female genitalia of Molopsis are described andillustrated. All available type material is listed and represented by habitus photographs.As a result, 9 monotypic species of Molopsis are recognized. Tapinopterus rebellis (Chaudoir, 1868) and T. rebelliskumanensis (Reitter, 1884), formerly assigned to Molopsis are recognized as outgroup-taxa. The following new speciesare described: T. (Molopsis) aenigmaticus sp.nov. (Asian Turkey, „Armenia“ imprecise locality), T. (Molopsis) chaudoirisp.nov. (Asian Turkey, Bursa Villayet, Uludağ Mt., Sakarya (Adapazari) Villayet, Gökdağ Mt.), T. (Molopsis) oyukluensissp.nov. (Asian Turkey, Konya Villayet, Fasihan Pass), and T. (Molopsis) relegatus sp.nov. (Asian Turkey, Bolu Villayet,Mengen env., Dorukhan Pass). The spider genus Austrochilus comprises only six species known from Chile and Argentina. Here, we describe a new species, Austrochilus parwis sp. n., based on a single male and several females. The new species was found in Chile (Region IX) and, based on characters in the male and female genitalia, seems to be closely related to A. forsteri Grismado, Lopardo & Platnick, 2003. The female genitalia were investigated using X-ray microscopy, revealing for the first time the internal organization of austrochiline female genitalia. Furthermore, we provide a comparative documentation of the male genitalia of austrochilines based mainly on type material, and comment on the recently proposed nomenclatorial changes to the family name Austrochilidae.

As part of an ongoing revision of the largest gonyleptid subfamily, Pachylinae, we examined Juticus furcidens Roewer, 1943. This is an elusive species mentioned only in catalogues after its description. In this paper, we redescribe it according to modern standards, including its male genitalia for the first time, which exhibit typical features of the gonyleptid K92 clade. Considering also other features from the body and appendages, we transfer J. furcidens to Gonyleptinae, and we discuss its relationships with other Gonyleptinae sensu stricto. In addition, we present a new record besides those of the type material, clarifying the hitherto imprecise distribution.

The study of the type material of Onthophagus viviensis d’Orbigny, 1905 and Onthophagus laevatus d’Orbigny, 1902 (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Scarabaeinae: Onthophagini) revealed that these two species described from Africa are instead two South American Onthophagus Latreille, 1802. The male of O. viviensis is described for the first time and its systematic position within the O. curvicornis species complex of American Onthophagus is discussed. In addition, Onthophagus laevatus new synonym is established as junior subjective synonym of Onthophagus curvicornis Latreille, 1812. Photographs of the type material examined, pictures of the body and male genitalia of O. viviensis and O. curvicornis, and an updated map of the geographic distribution of these two South American species is provided. A neotype is designated for O. curvicornis and lectotypes are designated for O. laevatus, O. minax Kirsch, 1866 and O. viviensis.

The Palaearctic species of the genus Trichardis Hermann, 1906 are reviewed. A new species, T. lehri sp. nov., is described. A new synonymy is established: T. leucocoma (van der Wulp, 1899) = T. afanasievae Lehr, 1964, syn. nov. The male of T. mongolica V. Richter, 1972 is described for the first time. External features and the male genitalia of T. lehri sp. nov., T. leucocoma (van der Wulp, 1899) and T. mongolica V. Richter, 1972 are illustrated with photographs.
