Revision of Australian Parathyginus with description of two new species, along with first detailed description of aedeagus in the family Heterogastridae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Lygaeoidea)

The Australian species of the small heterogastrid genus Parathyginus Scudder, 1957 have been reviewed, resulting in the establishment of the junior subjective synonymy of P. doddi (Distant, 1918) with P. signifer (Walker, 1872), and the description of two new species, P. australis sp. nov. and P. acuminatus sp. nov. A redescription of the genus is provided with emphasis on male and female genitalia characters, along with a key to all included Australian species. Male genitalia, particularly the details of the aedeagus, have been rarely studied in this genus or for that matter the family Heterogastridae particularly due to the difficulty in inflating the inflatable sections. In this study, therefore, an attempt was made to fully inflate and describe the aedeagus of all the species included in this contribution, as well as of Heterogaster urticae (Fabricius, 1775), the type species of the oldest genus Heterogaster Schilling, 1829, of the family Heterogastridae.

The Prabhasa Moore, 1878 genus-group is reviewed. The male and female genitalia of Prabhasa venosa Moore, 1878, the type species of the genus, are described and illustrated for the first time. Two new genera, Macohasa Dubatolov, Volynkin & Kishida, gen. nov. and Chinasa Dubatolov, Volynkin & Kishida, gen. nov. and two new species, Macohasa cernyi Dubatolov, Volynkin & Kishida, sp. nov. and Chinasa sapa Dubatolov, Volynkin & Kishida, sp. nov. are described for Prabhasa venosa sensu authors. Seven new combinations are established: Zadadra plumbeomicans (Hampson, 1894), comb. nov., Zadadra monastyrskyi (Dubatolov, 2012), comb. nov., Macohasa orientalis (Hampson, 1905), comb. nov., Macohasa tetraspila (Černý, 2009), comb. nov., Macohasa dimorpha (Hampson, 1918), comb. nov., Chinasa costalis costalis (Moore, 1878), comb. nov. and Chinasa costalis bicoloriceps (Strand, 1916), comb. nov.

The Oriental Pantheinae genus Donda Moore, 1882 is revised. The type-species of the genus—Donda eurychlora (Walker, 1858) is recognized as a complex of species. Two new species, Donda continentalis sp. n. from Thailand, China, and Vietnam and D. sundana sp. n. from Indonesia are described. Two species, D. thoracica Moore, 1882 and D. striatovirens Moore, 1883, are excluded from the genus Donda. The status of two taxa, D. ornata Moore, 1883 and D. lichenoides (Hampson, 1894) remains open. The imagines, male and female genitalia are illustrated. The checklist of the genus Donda is presented.

AbstractThe new genus Archepandemis, with type-species Parapandemis borealis Freeman, 1965, is described. Two new species, A. coniferana from British Columbia and Alberta and A. morrisana from New Brunswick, are distinguished from A. borealis by characters of maculation and especially of male and female genitalia.

The genus Thyridosmylus Krüger (Neuroptera: Osmylidae) belongs to the subfamily Spilosmylinae based on the type species Osmylus langii Mclachlan 1870 (Krüger 1913). The genus has 19 species mainly distributed in Asia, especially in China where there are 14 species: Thyridosmylus polyacanthus sp. nov., Thyridosmylus trimaculatus sp. nov., Thyridosmylus minoroides Yang, 1987, Thyridosmylus laetus Yang, 1988, Thyridosmylus pulchrus Yang, 1988, Thyridosmylus medoganus Yang, 1988, Thyridosmylus similaminor Yang, 1992, Thyridosmylus trifasciatus Yang, 1993, Thyridosmylus triypsiloneurus Yang, 1995, Thyridosmylus maolanus Yang, 1993, Thyridosmylus qianus Yang, 1993, Thyridosmylus fuscus Yang, 1999, Thyridosmylus vulgatus Yang, 1999 and Thyridomsylus pallidius Yang, 2002. Three species are described from India (Thyridosmylus langii (McLachlan 1870), Thyridosmylus perspicillaris (Gerstaecker, 1885), Thyridosmylus pustulatus Kimmis 1942) while another two species are known from Madagascar (Thyridosmylus marmoratus Fraser, 1955 and Thyridosmylus punctulatus (Navás, 1933)). Gerstaecker (1885) described one subspecies Thyridosmylus perspicillaris perspicillaris Gerstaecker and Kimmins (1942) erected three additional subspecies, Thyridosmylus langii angustus Kimmins, 1942, Thyridosmylus perspicillaris fenestratus Kimmins, 1942, Thyridosmylus perspicillaris minor Kimmins, 1942. However due to rampant variation in colouration and venation, the valid status of these subspecies is doubted and they are provisionally treated as synonyms herein. Thyridosmylus is characterised by fuscous and maculate forewings and largely hyaline hind wings, moderately sized and usually ochreous body, costal cross-veins simple and radial field with numerous cross veins (not including gradates). In the male genitalia, the anal plate generally elevates into a fingerlike process on the dorsal margin, and parameres are commonly arcuate in lateral view. Female genitalia usually have a broad anal plate, while the gonapophysis lateralis is finger-like or coniform in lateral view. In this paper, two new species are described from China. Terminology follows Tjeder (1957) and New (1986). All the type specimens are deposited in the Entomological Museum of China Agricultural University (CAU), Beijing.

Spiniphallelusebertisp. nov. (Iran) and Spiniphallellusnaumannisp. nov. (Afghanistan) are described. The position of the genus within the subfamily Anomologinae is briefly discussed, as is the degree of development of the gnathos in the male genitalia of two species within the same genus. A key to all Spiniphallellus species is given, and adults and male and female genitalia of the new species are illustrated. Introduction The genus Spiniphallellus was established for three species of Gelechiidae, respectively from the deserts of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan (S.desertus Bidzilya & Karsholt, 2008), mountains of Kazakhstan (S.stonisi Bidzilya & Karsholt, 2008) and mountains of Turkey (S.fuscescens Bidzilya & Karsholt, 2008). Recently an additional new species, S.chrysotosella Junnilainen, 2016, was described from Bulgaria, Turkey and Georgia. The first three species are externally very similar, but can easily be separated by their genitalia. S.chrysotosella looks externally quite distinct from the other species both by its wingspan and wing pattern, but its genitalia match well the configuration for the genus, being most similar to those of S.fuscescens. The host plant is known only for S.desertus, whose larva feeds on Rheum sp. (Polygonaceae) in Kazakhstan (Falkovitsh and Bidzilya 2009). The adults of S.chrysotosella were observed around Jasminumfruticans L. (Oleaceae) in all three localities where this species was recorded (Junnilainen 2016). As a result of studying collected material in the Staatliches Museum für Naturkunde in Karlsruhe, five plain coloured, rather narrow-winged greyish black specimens of Gelechiidae were discovered amongst material from Afghanistan and Iran. Their assignment to the genus Spiniphallellus was proved by the study of the genitalia. It turned out that they represent two different species, which do not match any known species in the genus. Their description is given below.

Based on the collection of the Zoological Research Institute and Museum Alexander Koenig, Germany, Bonn, two new species of the genera Lygephila Billberg, 1820 and Apopestes Hübner, [1823] are described from China. The new taxa belong to the subfamily Catocalinae, tribe Toxocampini: Lygephila stueningi, sp. n., Lygephila longicoecum sp. n., and Apopestes curiosa sp. n. The new subgnenus Sinocampa, subgen. n. (type species Lygephila longicoecum, sp. n.) of the genus Lygephila is described. The adults and male and female genitalia are illustrated, and distribution maps of the new species are presented.

In the present paper, two new genera of the Prabhasa Moore, 1878 / Zadadra Moore, 1878 generic complex are described: Dentadra gen. nov. (Type species: Prabhasa flavicosta Moore, 1878) and Prabadra gen. nov. (Type species: Prabadra occidentalis sp. nov.). Additionally, two new species are described: Prabadra occidentalis sp. nov. (NE India and N Thailand) and Zadadra confusa sp. nov. (Nepal, NE India, Bhutan and W China). The new synonymy is established: Zadadra distorta Moore, 1872 = Zadadra neodistorta Joshi, Kirti & N. Singh, 2015, syn. nov. Two new combinations are established: Dentadra flavicosta (Moore, 1878), comb. nov. and Prabadra monastyrskii (Dubatolov, 2012), comb. nov. The lectotype is designated for Lithosia distorta Moore, 1872. Adults, male and female genitalia are illustrated. A checklist of the Prabhasa / Zadadra generic complex is provided.

The spider genus Austrochilus comprises only six species known from Chile and Argentina. Here, we describe a new species, Austrochilus parwis sp. n., based on a single male and several females. The new species was found in Chile (Region IX) and, based on characters in the male and female genitalia, seems to be closely related to A. forsteri Grismado, Lopardo & Platnick, 2003. The female genitalia were investigated using X-ray microscopy, revealing for the first time the internal organization of austrochiline female genitalia. Furthermore, we provide a comparative documentation of the male genitalia of austrochilines based mainly on type material, and comment on the recently proposed nomenclatorial changes to the family name Austrochilidae.

The study of specimens, collected by David Agassiz in several African countries and in Madagascar, together with some specimens collected by Wolfram Mey, enabled not only the confirmation of some country records, but also the description of two new species (Epermenia (Calotripis) larseni and E. (C.) albofasciata), the description of the hitherto unknown female genitalia of Epermenia minuta Gaedike, 2004 and Ochromolopis namibica Gaedike, 2004 and the male genitalia of Ochromolopis xeropa (Meyrick, 1909). Two first records (Africepermenia tanzanica Gaedike, 2004 and Phaulernis montuosa Gaedike, 2013) for Zimbabwe and one for Kenya (Epermenia triacuta Gaedike, 2013) were made. A distribution list showing hitherto known occurrence of the family in the Afrotropics is presented.
