Contribution to the subfamily Ophioninae (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) of Southern Europe with the description of one new genus and 15 new species

This paper presents the descriptions of four new species of the genus Enicospilus Stephens, 1835 and ten species of Ophion Fabricius, 1798: Enicospilus (Allocamptus) izquierdoae sp. nov., E. borderai sp. nov., E. erebus sp. nov., Ophion albanicus sp. nov., O. anatolicus sp. nov., O. canariensis sp. nov., O. castilloae sp. nov., O. cypriotus sp. nov., O. incarinatus sp. nov., O. trochantellatus sp. nov., O. mediterraneus sp. nov., O. pusillus sp. nov., O. rugipleuris sp. nov. and Ophion ziczac sp. nov. Additionally, a new genus Nyxia gen. nov. and its only known species Nyxia shawi sp. nov. is decribed from Portugal. Enicospilus arcuatus (Brullé, 1846) syn. nov. and Enicospilus hannibalis (Kohl, 1905) syn. nov. are junior synonyms of Enicospilus inflexus (Ratzeburg, 1844). Enicospilus ramidulops Scaramozzino, 1986 syn. nov. is a junior synonym of Enicospilus bimaculator Aubert, 1979. The mainly Afrotropical species Enicospilus antefurcalis (Szépligeti, 1908) is a new record for the Palaearctic realm. A short discussion on the presumed diversity of Western Palaearctic Ophioninae is given.

Hudepohlellus Chemsak & Hovore, 2010, a monotypic genus, is considered a junior synonym of Monneellus Hüdepohl, 1985 and M. semilunatus (Chemsak & Hovore, 2010) is a new combination. Kozlovellus bicolor, a new genus and new species of Rhopalophorini is described from Costa Rica.

Orbitolina daviesi Hofker, 1966 (family Orbitolinidae) was validly described and thoroughly illustrated from Thanetian limestones of Pakistan. Although its attribution to the genus Orbitolina d’Orbigny and any phylogenetic relationships with the Cretaceous taxa have been refuted shortly afterwards, the species has not been taxonomically revised since then. Karsella hottingeri Sirel, 1999 was established as new genus and new species from the Thanetian of Turkey, without taking into account J. Hofker’s publication. The original description and genus diagnosis of Karsella has meanwhile been emended to include the occurrence of a radial zone with septula that follow a zig-zag pattern and associated linear arrangement of the foramina, as well as a complex embryo. Orbitolina daviesi clearly displays these features and is here considered a species of the genus Karsella Sirel. Karsella hottingeri is regarded as a subjective junior synonym of O. daviesi Hofker and therefore, the only species of the genus is given as a new combination: Karsella daviesi (Hofker). From a suprageneric viewpoint, the two Paleogene genera Karsella Sirel and Cushmania Silvestri display a complex embryo and might belong to a new subfamily of the Orbitolinidae, phylogenetically different and unrelated to the lower-mid Cretaceous Orbitolininae.

Abstract. Three new species and one new genus of adherent foraminiferans have been found within bivalve borings in cobbles from the Faringdon Sponge-gravel (Upper Aptian) of south-central England. The new genus and species, Lapillincola faringdonensis is a uniserial textulariine with an initial planispiral coil and a multiple aperture. Lapillincola gen. nov. is a remarkable homeomorph of Arenonina Barnard, which was originally described as an agglutinated form. Arenonina is shown here to actually be calcareous and perforate, and thus a junior synonym of Rectocibicides Cushman & Ponton. Acruliammina parvispira sp. nov. is another uniserial textulariine with an initial coil. Bullopora ramosa sp. nov. is an adherent polymorphinid with a branching, irregular series of adherent chambers. These foraminiferans may have used the bivalve borings as spatial refuges from the abrasive, high energy environment of the Sponge-gravel.

Three new species of holothuroids from the Antarctic Peninsula and Bellingshausen Sea are described, with O’Loughin & Manjón-Cabeza as authors: dendrochirotids Cucumaria dudexa sp. nov., Psolicrux iuvenilesi sp. nov.; myriotrochid Myriotrochus hesperides sp. nov. Parathyonidium incertum Heding is discussed. Two synonymies for Antarctic holothuroids are formalised: Caespitugo citriformis Gutt is a junior synonym of Thyone scotiae Vaney; Caespitugo diversipes Gutt is a junior synonym of Cucumaria psolidiformis Vaney. Cucumaria armata Vaney is removed from inclusion in the Cucumaria georgiana (Lampert) group, and is a junior synonym of Cucumaria psolidiformis Vaney. A synonymy of Cucumaria aspera Vaney with Psolidium (Cucumaria) coatsi Vaney is rejected; Cucumaria aspera Vaney is referred to the Cucumaria georgiana (Lampert) group. Cucumaria conspicua Vaney is removed from synonymy with Psolidium (Cucumaria) coatsi Vaney, and is a junior synonym of Cucumaria psolidiformis Vaney. Thyone scotiae Vaney is referred to Crucella Gutt. Caespitugo Gutt is a junior synonym of Crucella Gutt. A new genus Cucamba O’Loughlin is erected; Cucumaria psolidiformis Vaney is referred to Cucamba O’Loughlin. A synonymy of Staurocucumis grandis (Vaney) with Staurocucumis turqueti (Vaney) is confirmed. The referral of Pseudocolochirus mollis Ludwig & Heding to Psolidiella Mortensen is confirmed. Lists of contemporary synonymies for Antarctic holothuroid species and generic referrals for Antarctic dendrochirotid species are provided. A table of holothuroid species collected from the Antarctic Peninsula and Bellingshausen Sea by the Spanish BENTART–2003 and BENTART–2006 cruises is provided.

Betapista dekkerae, new genus and new species, is described. The generic diagnoses for Laphania and Scionides are improved after inspection of the holotypes of the type species. Eupolymnia heterobranchia (syn., E. crescentis) is redescribed. Additions to the descriptions, based on study of type material, are made for Laphania boecki (new record, Northeast Pacific), Neoamphitrite robusta (syn., Scionides dux), Neoleprea californica and N. spiralis, Pista brevibrunchiata (new record, British Columbia [B.C.], Washington [WA], Japan) and P. fratrella, and Polycirrus californicus (new record, B.C., WA, syn., P. perplexus). Other additions to the descriptions are provided for Amaeana occidentalis (new record, B.C.) and Pista cristata. Two further Pista species (one from the Skagerrak) and five Polycirrus species are charcterized but not named. Other new records are Lanassa venusta venusta (B.C.), Lysilla loveni, and Neoleprea japonica (the two latter for Northeast Pacific). Lysilla pacifica, Pista fasciata, and P. fratrella are shown not to be members of the fauna of British Columbia and Washington. Presumably, neither is Polycirrus caliendrum. New observations on the types of the Antarctic Polycirrus kerguelensis and Ereutho kerguelensis are noted.Key words: Betapista n.g., Neoleprea, new records, Northeast Pacific, Pista, Polycirrus, Scionides, Terebellidae

A collection of microcaddisflies from sites on the Cuito, Cuanavale, Cuembo, Cuando, Cubango, and Lungue Bungo Rivers in Angola has yielded seven new species and led to new records for a further five species. The new species include Hydroptila cuembica sp. nov., Hydroptila moxica sp. nov., Oxyethira palisada sp. nov., Orthotrichia ferreirae sp. nov., Or. meyi sp. nov., and Or. mlamboi sp. nov., and another species for which we erect a new genus, Aenigmatrichia asymmetrica gen. et sp. nov. The new records are for Catoxyethira kunenica Mey & de Moor 2019, Hydroptila brigittae Gibon 1987b, Hydroptila cruciata Ulmer 1912, Hydroptila maoae Gibon, Guenda, & Coulibaly 1994, Oxyethira sechellensis Malicky 1993, and a larva identified as that of a species of Tricholeiochiton. Beyond the known Angolan microcaddisfly fauna we resolve several taxonomic problems: We refer to Orthotrichia a species described by Jacquemart in Hydroptila, to become Orthotrichia trifurcata (Jacquemart 1962), comb. nov., with Orthotrichia hydroptiloides Wells & Andersen 1995 (from Tanzania) as a junior synonym; and we recognise Orthotrichia kivuensis Jacquemart 1956 (from Bukana, on Lake Kivu) as a junior synonym of Or. sanya Mosely 1948a from the Orange and Fish rivers. A list is given of the 16 microcaddisfly species now known from Angola: Representation is probably typical of sand and silt-based streams and pools, with the exception of Catoxyethira and Orthotrichia.

The genus Minagenia Banks, 1934 is reported for the first time from Australia. A new species, M. lasallei Decker, Rodriguez & Pitts, sp. nov. (Australia: from Queensland to Tasmania), is described and illustrated. A key to the four species from the Australasian and Oriental regions is given. Three species are removed from Asian Minagenia: granulosa Tsuneki, 1989, comb. nov., to the genus Priocnemis Schiødte, 1837; pempuchiensis Tsuneki, 1989, comb. nov., to the genus Nipponodipogon Ishikawa, 1965; and assimilis Smith, 1861, comb. nov., to the genus Dichragenia Haupt, 1950. Minagenia alticola Tsuneki, 1989 is a member of an undescribed genus. Placement of this species is maintained in Minagenia until the new genus can be described in a future work. Minagenia brevicornis (Banks, 1934) is redescribed.

The Yponomeutidae of the Afrotropical region are revised. The generic name Trisophista Meyrick is restored, stat. rev. Three new synonymies are established: Trisophista pauli Viette, 1967 is a junior synonym of Yponomeuta strigillata Zeller,1852 syn. nov., Yponomeuta parvipunctus Gershenson & Ulenberg, 1998 is a junior synonym of Y. sistrophora Meyrick, 1909, and Paraswammerdamia malgasella Viette, 1954 is a junior synonym of Yponomeuta subplumbella Walsingham, 1881, syn. nov. A new genus Dukeia is described. 21 new species are described: Cedestis nathani, Kessleria africana, Swammerdamia tobii, Xyrosaris louisae, X. lucae, Yponomeuta alexi, Y. atricatoa, Y. capensis, Y. dhofarensis, Y. gnophera, Y. griseomacula, Y. ioni, Y, malagasella, Y. melanephos, Y. nephella, Y. onyxella, Y. orocola, Y. oromiensis, Y. staudei, Y. superplumbella and Y. zambesica.

The taxonomy of several genera of the tribe Dicerurini (subfamily Porricondylinae) is revisited, induced by the discovery of 11 new species in Malaise catches of various provenances. The bulk of the specimens interpreted here is of Swedish origin. Species described as new to science are Desertepidosis grytsjoenensis sp. nov. (from Sweden), D. robusta sp. nov. (Sweden), Linnaeomyia pratensis sp. nov. (Czech Republic), Neurepidosis ekdalensis sp. nov. (Sweden), N. emarginata sp. nov. (Sweden, Czech Republic), N. hybrida sp. nov. (Sweden), Tetraneuromyia brevipalpis sp. nov. (Sweden, Slovak Republic), T. discrepans sp. nov. (Sweden), T. errata sp. nov. (Sweden), and T. lapponica sp. nov. (Sweden). A new genus, Gardenforsia gen. nov., is introduced for G. oelandica sp. nov. (Sweden), a new species with regressive male morphology. The generic definitions of Desertepidosis Mamaev & Soyunov, 1989 (including Ubinomyia Mamaev, 1990 syn. nov. as new junior synonym) and Linnaeomyia Jaschhof & Jaschhof, 2015 are revised. A key to males of Desertepidosis is presented. New information on the morphology and geographic distribution is provided for Linnaeomyia hortensis Jaschhof & Jaschhof, 2015; Tetraneuromyia bulbifera Mamaev, 1964; and T. lamellata Spungis, 1987.

Samples of Bryozoa were collected during an epibenthic sledge survey (Canal0209) of the Menorca Channel between Menorca and Mallorca in the Balearic Islands in 2009. Twenty-nine species were identified, including a new genus of Calloporidae (Barrosia) and a new species of Fenestrulina, described herein. A lectotype is designated for Coronellina fagei (Calescharidae). Cribellopora simplex, a species of Lacernidae generally considered to be a junior synonym of Cribellopora trichotoma, is redescribed on the basis of the holotype and newly collected material.
