Previous research conducted by the author revealed a clear preference for profile and half profile view in paintings of secular persons. Frontal view (full-face or en face) was usually restricted to representations of Christ. In this paper, the results will be applied to the study of the paintings of one particular artist: the German-born fifteenth-century painter Hans Memling. Adopting methods from traditional art history as well as cognitive psychology, the aim is to show how Memeling's systematic distinction between sacred and profane, using the frontal view only for representations of Christ, can be explained by reference to psychological studies on the effects and values usually associated with the frontal view of a face. The chemical properties of catalysts often depend on the size, shape and structure of the supported metal particles. To characterize these morphological features and relate them to catalysis is one of the main objectives for HREM study of catalysts. However, in plan view imaging, details of the shape and structure of ultra-fine supported particles (<2nm) are often obscured by the overlapping contrast from the support, and supported sub-nanometer particles are sometimes even invisible. Image simulations may help in the interpretation at HREM images of supported particles in particular to extract useful information about the size, shape and structure of the particles. It should also be a useful tool for evaluating the imaging conditions in terms of visibility of supported particles. P. L. Gai et al have studied contrast from metal particles supported on amorphous material using multislice simulations. In order to better understand the influence of a crystalline support on the visibility and apparent morphological features of supported fine particles, we have calculated images of Pt and Re particles supported on TiO2(rutile) in both plan view and profile view.

This study aims to determine the emotional intelligence of female students who wear the full face veil. This research uses a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The sampling technique was carried out with a total sampling of 38 students who wore the veil from several universities in Indonesia. The research instrument uses a Likert-shaped Emotional Intelligence Scale owned by Dika Sahputra. Questionnaires are distributed online through the Google Forms application from November 2019 to January 2020. The results showed that in general the emotional intelligence of students who wore the full face veil was in the high category. These results can be used as a basis for making programs for guidance and counseling services in tertiary institutions, as well as being the basis for policy making for university leaders and the government towards female students and women who use the full face veil

Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) enable the creation of videos in which a person appears to say or do things they did not. The impact of these so-called “deepfakes” hinges on their perceived realness. Here we tested different versions of deepfake faces for Welcome to Chechnya, a documentary that used face swaps to protect the privacy of Chechen torture survivors who were persecuted because of their sexual orientation. AI face swaps that replace an entire face with another were perceived as more human-like and less unsettling compared to partial face swaps that left the survivors’ original eyes unaltered. The full-face swap was deemed the least unsettling even in comparison to the original (unaltered) face. When rendered in full, AI face swaps can appear human and avoid aversive responses in the viewer associated with the uncanny valley.
