Background In industrial disasters, early detection of problems and crisis management are critical for saving the lives of people and reducing the impact of disasters. Purpose In this study, we design a special gateway system that bridges the gap between different communication protocols and enables legacy supervisory control and data acquisition systems to function early detection systems for potential industrial disasters. Methods The system uses a new queue mechanism to substantially improve the problem of data loss found in conventional supervisory control and data acquisition systems and utilizes identification (ID) prioritization to enable early detection of problems. The proposed system is implemented and tested on a Linux-based, 3G-capable Modbus gateway system. Modbus is used as the communication protocol and 3G technology is utilized to provide high-speed wireless data transfer components. The Modbus gateway device uses an ARM-based EP9302 processor and has digital input/output, relay outputs, and RS485 outputs. Conclusion This study is significant as it is the first work to show the application of the priority query execution method for Modbus gateway devices.

To improve data transmission performance of the data acquisition card, a design of high-speed data transmission system is proposed in the thesis. Using FPGA of programmable logic devices, adopting Verilog HDL of hardware description language, the design of modularization and DMA transmission method is implemented in FPGA. Eventually the design implements the data transmission with high-speed through PCI Express interface. Through simulation and verification based on hardware system, this design is proved to be feasible and can satisfy the performance requirements of data transmission in the high-speed data acquisition card applied in high-speed railway communication. The design also has some value of application and reference for a universal data acquisition card.

Visible light communication technology is a emerging wireless and optical communication technology developed after invention and application of white LED.In this paper, we have a research based on indoor visible light communication system of lighting white LED,discuss of the visible light communication channel characteristics, detailedly analysis of the indoor visible light communication link. This paper focuses on the modulation and demodulation method applied to visible light communication. In the past visible light communication is mainly used off keying modulation, however, the data transfer speed is limited due to the influence of ISI .This paper presents a solution based on OFDM modulation and demodulation, to reduce the impact brought from inter-symbol string under high data transfer speed.Based on data analysis and computer simulation, the program presented in this paper can be used as indoor lighting and high-speed data transmission. Finally, give scheme to achieve visible light communication modulation and demodulation, provide a theoretical basis for further experiments.

The interface presented in this paper performs a synchronized sampling of all eight common-mode or differential analog inputs with a high sampling rate. This is a low cost interface, entirely controlled by the PC104 CPU. The paper is focused on design and operation aspects of the synchronized analog-to-digital conversion module. This interface is recommended for high speed data acquisition systems and finds its utility in energetic systems, for monitoring the power quality and for recording different specific transient events. Some programmable electronic modules which perform analog and digital signal acquisition in energetic systems already contain a PC104 interface with synchronized sampling of analog inputs; some experimental results are also presented in this paper.

The Propulsion Systems Laboratory at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Glenn Research Center is one of the premier U.S. facilities for research on advanced aeropropulsion systems. The facility can simulate a wide range of altitude and Mach number conditions while supplying the aeropropulsion system with all the support services necessary to operate at those conditions. Test data are recorded on a combination of steady-state and high-speed data-acquisition systems. Recently a number of upgrades were made to the facility to meet demanding new requirements for the latest aeropropulsion concepts and to improve operational efficiency. Improvements were made to data-acquisition systems, facility and engine-control systems, test-condition simulation systems, video capture and display capabilities, and personnel training procedures. This paper discusses the facility’s capabilities, recent upgrades, and planned future improvements.

The interface presented in this paper is recommended for high speed data acquisition systems; it performs a synchronized sampling of all common-mode or differential analog inputs with a high sampling rate. This is a low cost interface, entirely controlled by the PC104 CPU. Programmable electronic modules that contain such PC104 interfaces can be found running in the energetic system from Romania; these dedicated equipments perform the analog and digital signal acquisition for monitoring and recording different specific transient events. Some experimental results obtained using the disturbance monitoring device PC-08/104 are also presented in this paper.
