Modifying the existing two-way street into a one-way street can alleviate the traffic congestion in a megacity and has the characteristics of economy saving, convenience, and quickness. However, at present, the setting of one-way street in China is mostly determined by human experience and lack of scientific basis. In this context, a one-way street network planning model is established in this paper. According to this model, the optimal method of adding a one-way street on the existing traffic network is found, solved by genetic algorithm. The abstract things are quantified, and some feasible, specific, efficient implementation steps to design a one-way street network are provided for the traffic control department. In addition, taking the traffic in the core area of Tongzhou New City as an example, this paper uses the one-way street planning model to construct the actual street network model and the one-way street network model in the core area of the Tongzhou New City and compares their simulation results. The results show that using the one-way street planning model to modify part of the two-way street into a one-way street in the core area of the Tongzhou New City can indeed improve the traffic operation of the area.

Nowadays, Underground space exploitation is one of the directions of the main focus in the construction of Hangzhou. This paper comprehensively introduces the schematic design of the underground space exploitation of Hangzhou east station, combined with the underground space development project of the core area in Hangzhou eastern new city zone. Firstly, the background of the surrounding area is discussed to illuminate the important status of the core area of eastern new city zone in Hangzhou’s future construction. Then, the holistic design concept and construction goal of the underground space exploitation of the core area are presented, and its functions and layout are clarified focusing on the railway construction and circumjacent exploitation project of Hangzhou east station. Lastly, the executive plan about the underground space exploitation of the core area of Hangzhou eastern new city zone is expatiated comprehensively.

Recovering height information from a single aerial image is a key problem in the fields of computer vision and remote sensing. At present, supervised learning methods have achieved impressive results, but, due to domain bias, the trained model cannot be directly applied to a new scene. In this paper, we propose a novel semi-supervised framework, StyHighNet, for accurately estimating the height of a single aerial image in a new city that requires only a small number of labeled data. The core is to transfer multi-source images to a unified style, making the unlabeled data provide the appearance distribution as additional supervision signals. The framework mainly contains three sub-networks: (1) the style transferring sub-network maps multi-source images into unified style distribution maps (USDMs); (2) the height regression sub-network, with the function of predicting the height maps from USDMs; and (3) the style discrimination sub-network, used to distinguish the sources of USDMs. Among them, the style transferring sub-network shoulders dual responsibilities: On the one hand, it needs to compute USDMs with obvious characteristics, so that the height regression sub-network can accurately estimate the height maps. On the other hand, it is necessary that the USDMs have consistent distribution to confuse the style discrimination sub-network, so as to achieve the goal of domain adaptation. Unlike previous methods, our style distribution function is learned unsupervised, thus it is of greater flexibility and better accuracy. Furthermore, when the style discrimination sub-network is shielded, this framework can also be used for supervised learning. We performed qualitatively and quantitative evaluations on two sets of public data, Vaihingen and Potsdam. Experiments show that the framework achieved superior performance in both supervised and semi-supervised learning modes.

It is necessary to develop a high homogeneous, low power consumption, high frequency and small-size shim coil for high precision and low-cost atomic spin gyroscope (ASG). To provide the shim coil, a multi-objective optimization design method is proposed. All structural parameters including the wire diameter are optimized. In addition to the homogeneity, the size of optimized coil, especially the axial position and winding number, is restricted to develop the small-size shim coil with low power consumption. The 0-1 linear programming is adopted in the optimal model to conveniently describe winding distributions. The branch and bound algorithm is used to solve this model. Theoretical optimization results show that the homogeneity of the optimized shim coil is several orders of magnitudes better than the same-size solenoid. A simulation experiment is also conducted. Experimental results show that optimization results are verified, and power consumption of the optimized coil is about half of the solenoid when providing the same uniform magnetic field. This indicates that the proposed optimal method is feasible to develop shim coil for ASG.

This article examines how female conditioning and sexual repression affect the woman’s sense of self, womanhood, identity and her place in society. It argues that the woman’s body is at the core of the many sites of gender struggles/ politics. Accordingly, the woman’s body must be decolonised for her to attain true emancipation. On the one hand, this study identifies the grave consequences of sexual repression, how it robs women of their freedom to choose whom to love or marry, the freedom to seek legal redress against sexual abuse and terror, and how it hinders their quest for self-determination. On the other hand, it underscores the need to give women sexual freedom that must be respected and enforced by law for the overall good of society.

This study examined Residents’ evaluation of turning transport infrastructure (road) to spaces for holding social ceremonies in the indigenous residential zone of Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria. Upon stratifying the city into the three identifiable zones, the core, otherwise known as the indigenous residential zone was isolated for study. Of the twenty (20) political wards in the two local government areas of the town, fifteen (15) wards that were located in the indigenous zone constituted the study area. Respondents were selected along one out of every three (33.3%) of the Trunk — C (local) roads being the one mostly used for the purpose in the study area. The respondents were the residents, commercial motorists, commercial motorcyclists, and celebrants. Six hundred and forty-two (642) copies of questionnaire were administered and harvested on the spot. The Mean Analysis generated from the respondents’ rating of twelve perceived hazards listed in the questionnaire were then used to determine respondents’ most highly rated perceived consequences of the practice. These were noisy environment, Blockage of drainage by waste, and Endangering the life of the sick on the way to hospital; the most highly rated reasons why the practice came into being; and level of acceptability of the practice which was found to be very unacceptable in the study area. Policy makers should therefore focus their attention on strict enforcement of the law prohibiting the practice in order to ensure more cordial relationship among the citizenry, seeing citizens’ unacceptability of the practice in the study area.

AbstractIn this paper we devise a generative random network model with core–periphery properties whose core nodes act as sublinear dominators, that is, if the network has n nodes, the core has size o(n) and dominates the entire network. We show that instances generated by this model exhibit power law degree distributions, and incorporates small-world phenomena. We also fit our model in a variety of real-world networks.

This paper studies the displacement and efficiency of a Purcell’s three-link microswimmer in low Reynolds number regime, capable of moving by the implementation of a motion primitive or gait. An optimization is accomplished attending to the geometry of the swimmer and the motion primitives, considering the shape of the gait and its amplitude. The objective is to find the geometry of the swimmer, amplitude and shape of the gaits which make optimal the displacement and efficiency, in both an individual way and combined (the last case will be referred to as multiobjective optimization). Three traditional gaits are compared with two primitives proposed by the authors and other three gaits recently defined in the literature. Results demonstrate that the highest displacement is obtained by the Tam and Hosoi optimal velocity gait, which also achieves the best efficiency in terms of energy consumption. The rectilinear and Tam and Hosoi optimal efficiency gaits are the second optimum primitives. Regarding the multiobjective optimization and considering the two criteria with the same weight, the optimum gaits turn out to be the rectilinear and Tam and Hosoi optimal efficiency gaits. Thus, the conclusions of this study can help designers to select, on the one hand, the best swimmer geometry for a desired motion primitive and, on the other, the optimal method of motion for trajectory tracking for such a kind of Purcell’s swimmers depending on the desired control objective.
