Background:Finite element analysis has been universally employed for the stress and strain analysis in lower extremity prosthetics. The socket adapter was the principal subject of interest due to its importance in deciding the knee motion range. Objectives:This article focused on the static and dynamic stress analysis of the designed hybrid adapter developed by the authors. A standard mechanical design validation approach using von Mises was followed. Four materials were considered for the analysis, namely, carbon fiber, oil-filled nylon, Al-6061, and mild steel.Study design:The paper analyses the static and dynamic stress on designed hybrid adapter which incorporates features of conventional male and female socket adapters. The finite element analysis was carried out for possible different angles of knee flexion simulating static and dynamic gait situation. Methods:Research was carried out on available design of socket adapter. Mechanical design of hybrid adapter was conceptualized and a CAD model was generated using Inventor modelling software. Static and dynamic stress analysis was carried out on different materials for optimization. Results:The finite element analysis was carried out on the software Autodesk Inventor Professional Ver. 2011. The peak value of von Mises stress occurred in the neck region of the adapter and in the lower face region at rod eye–adapter junction in static and dynamic analyses, respectively.Conclusions:Oil-filled nylon was found to be the best material among the four with respect to strength, weight, and cost.Clinical relevanceResearch investigations on newer materials for development of improved prosthesis will immensely benefit the amputees. The study analyze the static and dynamic stress on the knee joint adapter to provide better material used for hybrid design of adapter.

Using the mechanical design of the software Solid works to established the 280 t LF the ladle furnace transportation car frame three dimensional model, and by using the finite element analysis of software Cosmos/works to static analysis for the frames, revealing that the frame of structure stress and strain distribution map of the frame, and also reveals that dangerous points and dangerous sections. Using resistance strain gauge to measure 280 t ladle transportation car frame, it is concluded that the frame of stress and strain distributions. Through the electrical measurement test the results were compared with finite element analysis results, further proof that the finite element analysis of the accuracy of the results provides theory basis for the optimization design of the frames.

The bioengineering and medical and biomedical fields are ever closer, and they manage to obtain surprising results for the development of new devices. The field of simulations and studies in silica has undergone considerable development in recent years, favoring the advancement of medicine. In this manuscript, a study was carried out to evaluate the force distribution on the implant components (In-Kone® Universal) and on the peri-implant tissues subjected to loading. With the finite element analysis and the Von Mises method, it was possible to evaluate this distribution of forces both at 0 degrees (occlusal force) and at 30 degrees; the applied force was 800 N. The obtained results on this new type of connection and on all the implant components are satisfactory; the distribution of forces appears optimal even on the peri-implant tissues. Surely, studies like this help to obtain ever more performing devices, improving both the clinic and the predictability of rehabilitations.

In order to validate the pin-hole-output mechanism of FA cycloid drive force analysis theory, and based on the study on the basis of the contact problem, this article used the international advanced finite element analysis software ANSYS, established the output dowel pin and cycloid gear pin hole's contacting finite element model, and analyzed the static three-dimensional contact analysis. The calculation results coincided with the proposed pin-hole-output mechanism with gap dynamic stress analysis method, proved the correctness of the stress analysis theory.

Propeller is one of the critical parts in garbage powder mixer and affect significantly to the performance. In order to obtain a more reasonable structure, force analysis and stress analysis is carrier out for the propeller based on the actual working condition. Optimal design for the propeller is implemented by the results of stress analysis. To verify the rationality and feasibility of this mechanism, the finite element analysis for the propeller is performed by using the ANASYS software. The simulation results show that the maximum stress of the propeller is on the joint of blade and rod. The optimized propeller is satisfied with the strength requirements.

The paper describes and compares selected failure and plasticity conditions of concrete. The CEB-FIB condition, the von Mises plasticity condition with modification for concrete and the Chen-Chen condition are studied. The conditions are compared in 2D and two of these conditions are also used for numerical analysis of a deep beam. The software BSA is chosen for the analysis in the paper. The software BSA is based on the finite element method.

Abstract Recycling plastic waste can help reduce plastic waste, which is the world’s largest problem. The first solution is a plastic crusher machine, which converts plastic packaging into pellets, especially for plastics made from polyester, which is often used in bottle packaging. An integral part of the crushing machine is the crushing blade, which determines the design and analysis of the blade. The finite element analysis method is widely used in engineering analysis. Its results can provide useful information for the analysis of manufacturing processes. A rectangular blade and a star-shaped blade are the two types to consider. The analytical results obtained on the blade of the crusher machine in the rectangular shape that was given loads by 200 N, 400 N, and 600 N are 1.285 × 103 N/m2, 2.570 × 103 N/m2, and 3.855 × 103 N/m2, respectively. We obtained the displacements are 1.080 × 10-6 mm, 2.160 × 10-6 mm, and 3.241 × 10-6 mm, respectively. The maximum von mises stress result on consecutive star-shaped blades are 8.890 × 102 N/m2, 1.778 × 103 N/m2, and 2.667 × 103 N/m2. The displacement obtained are 1.211 × 10-6 mm, 2.422 × 10-6 mm, and 3.633 × 10-6 mm. The results of this analysis indicate that for the star blade, the shape is better than for the rectangular blade at the same time, and for the star blade, the stress is smaller than for the rectangular blade. Based on this simulation, the safety factor is 15, which means that it is more than 1, which means that it is safe.

Aim: To study the stress distribution in Class 2 Inlay of various materials on Mandibular Molar. Background: Inlays are fabricated using different materials like gold, porcelain or a cast metal alloy. Difference in the modulus of elasticity of the material and tooth structure would lead to generation of stresses leading to failure of the restoration or loss of tooth structure. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a mathematical tool for stress analysis in a structure. Von Mises stress being the combination of normal and shear stresses which occur in all directions. This stress has to be given diligent importance while considering the type and material of restoration to achieve long-term success. Methodology: In our study, stress analysis was performed on the mandibular first molar using a stress analysis software (ANSYS). A computer model of mandibular first molar was generated along with generation of an inlay volume using a FEA software preprocessor. The models with the class 2 inlays of different materials were subjected to 350N and 800N load simulating normal masticatory force and bruxism respectively. Maximum and minimum stresses were calculated for each model separately. Results: Von Mises stress distribution for different materials for normal masticatory forces and bruxism were studied and evaluated. Conclusion: The study revealed the maximum and minimum stresses imposed over the tooth and the restoration and provides insight into the areas which are more prone to fracture under the occlusal load.
