Artificial intelligence (AI) has existed formally as a field of science and technology for over thirty years. 109634808801200264Nevertheless, it has no precise definition due to it's diversity. Over the years Al has developed into three principal branches: expert systems, natural language communication, and robotics. Expert systems (ES) among the three branches is currently attracting much attention and is of most interest to many professionals as well as organizations. However, the development of expert systems—the computer programs that emulate the thinking processes of human brain in solving problems—is very complex and extremely costly. Although the current applications of ES are mainly is space exploration, it should be noted that some of the greatest opportunities for expert systems in the hospitality industry lie in small, routine, everyday tasks like departmental budget analysis, shift scheduling, credit verification, and room assignment.

Purpose The hospitality industry experienced an unanticipated challenge from the COVID-19 pandemic. However, research in this area is scarce. Accordingly, this study aims to unfold a three-angled research agenda to intensify the knowledge advancement in the hospitality sector. It proposes a theoretical framework by extending the protection motivation theory (PMT) to explain the guest’s intent to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics as a protective measure in reaction to COVID-19. Design/methodology/approach The research is centered on outlining the pertinent literature on hospitality management practices and the guest’s transformed behavior during the current crisis. This study intends to identify a research agenda based on investigating hospitality service trends in today’s changing times. Findings The study sets out a research agenda that includes three dimensions as follows: AI and robotics, cleanliness and sanitation and health care and wellness. This study’s findings suggest that AI and robotics may bring out definite research directions at the connection of health crisis and hospitality management, taking into account the COVID-19 crisis. Practical implications The suggested research areas are anticipated to propel the knowledge base and help the hospitality industry retrieve the COVID-19 crisis through digital transformation. AI and robotics are at the cusp of invaluable advancement that can revive the hotels while re-establish guests’ confidence in safe hotel practices. The proposed research areas are likely to impart pragmatic lessons to the hospitality industry to fight against disruptive situations. Originality/value This study stands out to be pioneer research that incorporated AI and robotics to expand the PMT and highlights how behavioral choices during emergencies can bring technological revolution.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of how artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics can and will be utilized by the hospitality industry, providing a glimpse of what their use will look like in 2030. Design/methodology/approach The paper reviewed both academic and trade literature to provide an overview of how robots will affect the hospitality industry during the 2030s. Findings Experts predict that by 2030, robots will make up about 25 per cent of the “workforce” in the hospitality industry. The paper also explains the industry challenges the robots will solve, as well as other benefits they provide. One of the findings is that the adoption of robots by the industry will be a disruptive paradigm shift. It will create successful new hospitality companies while putting others out of business. Finally, this paper discusses how to keep the hospitality in hospitality businesses, when machines replace employees. Originality/value This paper is one of the first to discuss the disruption that robots will cause in the industry. One of the findings is service delivery systems will need to be redesigned to maximize the benefits of robots, while still maintaining the hospitality of a customer service orientation.

The diagnosis process is the first step to knowing a type of disease. This type of disease caused by mosquitoes is one of the major viruses (MAVY), dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) and malaria. Sometimes not everyone can find the virus that is carried by this mosquito, usually children who are susceptible to this virus because the immune system that has not been built perfectly is perfect. To know for sure which virus is infected by mosquitoes, it can diagnose by seeing symptoms perceived symptoms. Expert systems are one of the most used artificial intelligence techniques today because expert systems can act as consultations. In this case the authors make a system to start a diagnosis process with variable centered intelligent rule system (VCIRS) methods through perceived symptoms. With the facilities provided for users and administrators, allowing both users and administrators to use this system according to their individual needs. AbstractThe rapid advances in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics will have a profound impact on society as they will interfere with the people and their interactions. Intelligent autonomous robots, independent if they are humanoid/anthropomorphic or not, will have a physical presence, make autonomous decisions, and interact with all stakeholders in the society, in yet unforeseen manners. The symbiosis with such sophisticated robots may lead to a fundamental civilizational shift, with far-reaching effects as philosophical, legal, and societal questions on consciousness, citizenship, rights, and legal entity of robots are raised. The aim of this work is to understand the broad scope of potential issues pertaining to law and society through the investigation of the interplay of law, robots, and society via different angles such as law, social, economic, gender, and ethical perspectives. The results make it evident that in an era of symbiosis with intelligent autonomous robots, the law systems, as well as society, are not prepared for their prevalence. Therefore, it is now the time to start a multi-disciplinary stakeholder discussion and derive the necessary policies, frameworks, and roadmaps for the most eminent issues.

AbstractThis paper presents a survey of machine induction, studied mainly from the field of artificial intelligence, but also from the fields of pattern recognition and cognitive psychology. The paper consists of two parts: Part I discusses the basic principles and features of the machine induction process; Part II uses these principles and features to review and criticize the major supervised attribute-based induction methods. Attribute-based induction has been chosen because it is the most commonly used inductive approach in the development of expert systems and pattern recognition models.

A control program was designed with Unity 5 virtual reality application in the automotive and robotics field. Thus, a virtual model of a robotic car was tested in a virtual reality program. After optimization, the smart controller was implemented on a specific model of the automated Chevrolet Camaro. The main objective of the present paper is to design a control program model to be tested in virtual reality and in a real-size car. Results concerning the virtual modeling of an automated car and its artificial intelligence controls have been presented and discussed, outlining the forces, torques, and context awareness capabilities of the car.

This article provides information about the prospects and limitations of the Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems as they relate to training systems and educational programs. The article describes the potential benefits of expert systems and how it can be gainfully employed in training environment, industry, and business management to perform complex jobs. The limitations of the applications of the Artificial Intelligence are discussed as some tend to believe that human mind and computers think alike and AI machines can function like a real expert in every aspect of training and education.
