Intergenerational programs have long been identified as a way of promoting health and well-being for participants. Continuing such programs during pandemic restrictions is challenging and requires a novel approach. This community case study describes the use of co-design to create a high-level intergenerational program model, adapt it to specific community needs, and deliver it virtually with the aid of modern communication technology. Interviews conducted after the program had finished indicated that despite the challenges and limitations of the virtual environment, meaningful connections were achieved across three generations. The high-level program model may serve as a basis for other programs wanting to explore this area.

Background: Increased awareness of the individual therapist’s vital contribution to treatment processes and outcome, and the potential role of training and supervision in this respect, warrants a close look at the empirical and theoretical literature on teaching and learning of therapists and counselors. Methods: A scoping review of the literature will be conducted based on an overarching research question: when authors have reported on learning processes and acquisition of knowledge and skills in psychotherapy/counseling and supervision/training literature over the past 30 years (since 1990), what evidence, concepts, theories, and models have they reported? A comprehensive search strategy is carried out to identify publications indexed in Scopus, PsycINFO, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials. Publications will be sorted according to four categories: (1) conceptual/theoretical; (2) empirical (quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods); (3) review, meta-synthesis or -analysis; (4) training program/model description. Procedures for the upcoming scoping review of conceptual/theoretical, empirical, and training program/model description publications will be outlined. Conclusion: Besides clarifying existing perspectives, practices, and evidence, and documenting the shifting trends of the field during the past three decades, this scoping review identifies knowledge gaps that point to vital future directions for research and theory development. Moreover, the comprehensive scoping lays the foundation for subsequent, more focused systematic reviews that address identified key research topics more specifically.

In the practice of developing geothermal fields, there is a need to find the dependence between the flow parameters. When transporting a steam-water mixture, it is necessary to determine the conditions that ensure the stability in the pipeline. At domestic geothermal energy, the hydraulic calculation of steam-water mixture pipelines was carried out using the computer program MODEL created by the authors of this work. New challenges and the emergence of the theory of stability led to the creation of a mathematical model SWIP (Stream-Water Inclining Pipeline). This article presents the stages of creating a new model by the authors that meets modern requirements.

Abstract In the practice of developing geothermal fields, it is necessary to forecast the flow parameters of the well and the pressure drop in the pipeline and need to decide on the optimal design for stable operation of the pipeline. At domestic facilities of geothermal energy, the hydraulic calculation of the steam-water mixture pipelines was carried out using the computer program MODEL developed by the authors of this work. New challenges and the emergence of stability theory led to the creation of the mathematical model SWIP (Steam-Water Inclining Pipeline). This paper presents a comparative analysis of two options for implementing the new model.

Abstract Primary Subject area Developmental Paediatrics Background With more than 28 million individuals of refugee or asylum-seeking background globally, the current situation has been described as one of the largest humanitarian crises of all time. Families of refugee background have complex, multigenerational mental health and developmental needs that are not accounted for in current programming frameworks. Difficulties in resettlement have been further compounded by COVID-19-related lockdowns, straining parental mental health and placing children at an increased risk for developmental or behavioural problems. Providing appropriate support services and educational resources that address the multigenerational concerns of families of refugee background will address these challenges, allowing for improved parental mental health, family cohesion, and developmental outcomes for children. Objectives To gather data about the experiences, resources, referral pathways and barriers that impact the experience of parents of refugee background in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and to develop a novel, multi-dimensional parenting program model using Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) principles. Design/Methods This was a qualitative community-based participatory study using a formative research framework, in accordance with COREQ guidelines. In-depth interviews (IDIs) were conducted with parents of refugee background and care providers that work closely with this population. Data were recorded, transcribed, and coded using deductive and inductive coding methods by two independent coders. A peer debriefing strategy was used to verify the coding approach and interpretation of findings in accordance with the RATS (relevancy, appropriateness, transparency and soundness) guidelines for qualitative research. Results A total of 20 IDIs were conducted (7 parents and 13 care providers). The main topics that were identified to be incorporated into the program include features of child development, how to address resettlement issues, child advocacy, and parenting in the Canadian context. Participants felt that tackling the language barriers, addressing the overlapping responsibilities of the mothers attending the sessions, providing incentives, increasing awareness of the program, and using an anti-racist and anti-oppressive approach is key to the program’s success. Participants emphasized the need for trauma-informed mental health support within the program model. Conclusion This study describes the key considerations for a novel parenting program for families of refugee background, by engaging them as key stakeholders in the program design process. Future iteration of this project would involve a pilot and evaluation of the program.
