The paper proposes a redefinition of the rules of critical sociology in the context of peripheral countries, among them Poland and also Russia and other countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The proposed theoretical model refers to the notions of cultural and political capital as understood and defined by Pierre Bourdieu. The cultural capital in particular is believed to be the key and most stable dimension of inequality in Poland, as well as an important source of inequalities in other dimensions. It has been suggested that critical sociology of the Polish periphery should focus its interests precisely on this issue. At the same time the position that overlooks the cultural dimension of inequalities and treats interests defined in terms of culture as “irrational” is considered to be a manifestation of “Orientalism” and lack of respect for the important social resources of the population.

Luс Boltanski visited Russia in September, 2019, to support the publication of the Russian translation of his book Mysteries and Conspiracies: Detective Stories, Spy Novels and the Making of Modern Societies. It was his second visit to Russia, where he delivered three lectures. The first lecture was dedicated to Mysteries and Conspiracies. The second lecture was dedicated to his last book Enrichment: A Critique of Commodities, which he wrote with Arnaud Esquerre. The third lecture focused on the relationship between the critical sociology of the Pierre Bourdieu school, and the pragmatic sociology of critical capacity promoted by Luc Boltanski together with his long-time collaborator, Laurent Thevenot, within their Group of Political and Moral Sociology. In this review of the two different approaches, he revisited the theme of his 2009 book On Critique: A Sociology of Emancipation which proclaimed the then-new theoretical synthesis. Mysteries and Conspiracies, published three years later, became the first demonstration of the practical implementation of this new model. On September 14, 2019, Luс Boltanski had an extensive talk with Oleg Kharkhordin wherein he clarified some issues of these lectures. The first part of this interview which was devoted to Mysteries and Conspiracies was published by the Russian on-line edition of gorky.media. Here, we publish the second part of this long interview covering the late writings of the famous French sociologist, the issues explored by his book On Critique, and the beginnings of his academic career when he was an active participant of the Pierre Bourdieu school.

Valérie par Valérie opens new critical paths which are fertile, though difficult to unpack. Published under the enigmatic and collective name La Rédaction, this book – whose main (or only) author seems to be Christophe Hanna – develops what we could call a viral critique, which seeks to occupy dominant ideologies to undermine them from within rather than oppose them with a new ideology. This article aims firstly to define Hanna's viral critique, based on his own theoretical works and Guy Debord's notion of spectacle as a social and economic mechanism. It then analyzes the specific form taken by that critique in Valérie par Valérie, where the author opposes the separation of literary and non-literary forms, as well as contemporary ultracapitalism and its political-economic ramifications. Finally, the ethical implications of this type of implicit critical exercise are explored through semioethics, in order to determine the efficiency of Hanna's project.

This paper provides us with an understanding of Bourdieu's theory. How the tolerance between Muslims and Hinduism comes as a religion that upholds the values of tolerance. The Islam and Hinduism communities of Lingsar are able to fortify and form harmony and even become a direction for religions outside the village of Lingsar that still form a harmony between both communities of Islam and Hindu. In Lingsar village there are two different Islam and Hindu religious communities but in their daily life they are able to create a peaceful and harmonious life. Thus Lingsar Village should be used as a village that maintains tolerance in religious attitude. The study looked at Bourdeiu's viewpoint of habitus, ranging from the concept of harmony to society, the advent of Islam and Hinduism in Lombok, and the harmonious relation between Islam and Hinduism in the ritual frame and festival of the show.
