Recruiters and researchers of TMT (top management teams) tend to emphasize the human capital and social capital of the executive in the interfirm migration, but they ignore the role of the former employer’s prestige. We address this issue to argue that the former employer’s organizational prestige attracts the recruiter’s attention to the TMT, and we propose that the TMT from high-prestige organization attracts high rewards than the TMT from a low-prestige organization. We used data from the biotechnology sector on 1,468 TMTs, their 1,482 hiring events, 783 recruiters, 168 source employers—in the interfirm movement of the TMTs from 1997 to 2005. We used three measures for predictors of the organizational prestige of the former employer, and the regression analysis shows some reflections of those predictors of rewards of the hired executive. The result shows that the organizational age, size, and alliance network of the former employer emit value signals to the recruiter. These components of organizational prestige predict increase in the rewards after controlling for the human capital of the TMT. The study contributes to organizational context as a predictor of value, institutional theory, and general implications for practice and policy.

Focusing on the interface between CEOs and top management teams (TMTs), we argue that CEO self-monitoring positively impacts a firm's pursuit of corporate entrepreneurship through the intervening role of TMT behavioral integration. We additionally argue that the impact becomes stronger as the firm's discretionary slack decreases because decreased slack creates an organizational context more favorable to the influences of both CEO self-monitoring and TMT behavioral integration. Results based on multisource (CEOs and TMTs) and multiwave data from 110 firms support the model and associated hypotheses.

Intangible issues, which are often very difficult to be quantified become more and more the field of interest of social sciences. There are many research works demonstrating that various types of knowledge, institutions, social networks, and social relations have a great influence on human activities as for efficient achievement of the actors’ goals. This paper relates expert knowledge (shaping professional qualification) to human capital and tacit knowledge (understood as a broader, general, and contextual knowledge) to cultural capital. Both forms of capital exist in their primary form only in concrete individual persons. Concerning collective persons (firm, community), cultural and human capitals are transformed into intellectual capital. Work with specific knowledge, tacit knowledge and capitals corresponding to them shows the role of social networks and social capital in their organization. Using the analysis of two farms based on natural experiment, the paper demonstrates the role of tacit knowledge and cultural capital (opposing to the overestimated role of expert knowledge and human capital). The conclusions outline social determination of both types of knowledge through social networks and social capital needed for an efficient work of a farm.

The purpose of this study is to analyze: 1) the effect of social capital on the existence of brass handicraft small industries, 2) the effect of transaction costs on the existence of brass handicraft small industries, 3) the influence of transaction costs moderated by social capital on the existence of brass small handicraft industries in Klungkung Regency. The study was conducted in Klungkung Subdistrict which consisted of Kamasan Village, Gelgel Village, Tojan Village, and Budaga Village. Samples were taken with a quota of 75 craftsmen and were interviewed, using accidental sampling. Analysis using Moderating Regression Analysis (MRA). The results of the analysis concluded that: 1) Social capital has a very significant impact on the existence of the brass handicraft industry in Klungkung Regency. The better the social capital, the smaller brass handicraft industry will exist. 2) Transaction costs are very significant for the existence of the brass handicraft industry in Klungkung Regency. The cheaper the transaction costs, the smaller the brass craft industry, the more efficient it can be. 3) Social capital moderates the significant role of transaction costs to the existence of a small brass handicraft industry in Klungkung Regency. The stronger social capital can increase transaction costs so that businesses become efficient, the brass craft industry will increasingly exist


This study aims to investigate and analyze the role of organizational context on workplace incivility and turnover intention. The research sample was 120 employees who work at the company engaged in the service industry. Multiple regression analysis was used to test the research hypotheses. The results found that organizational context influences workplace incivility, which in turn increases turnover intention. As a consequence, it is important for the organization to enhance alertness towards the occurrence of the employees’ workplace incivility. Internalization and implementation of values of the organizational context can be utilized to manage employees’ work performance

The purpose of research include studying the characteristics of social capital in the communities especially poor fishermen fishing in the coastal areas, Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan, studying characteristic of social networks and institutional owned by poor households, which is the primary vehicle for empowerment, and to analyze the contribution and role of social capital to welfare of fishermen households in Kecamatan Koto IV Tarusan Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan, and to formulate and create a model for institutional development for the empowerment of poor fishermen.The regression results obtained influence SC (social capital) on the level of social welfare is positive, the higher the social capital of the area, the higher the welfare seaboard district. Kec. Koto XI Tarusan. So also with the HC (human capital) suggests that increased education will improve the welfare of the community. Effect of land will provide opportunities to increase the welfare of society. Variable Z (number of household members) suggests that the increase in the number of family members will reduce the level of social welfare.

The prime objective of the study is to highlight the role of the capital mix (financial capital, social capital, human capital) on women micro-enterprise success with moderating role of previous work experience. Women owned micro-enterprise success is less as compared to the male owned micro-enterprsie, particularly in Pakistan. Rate of faliure in women micro-enterpeise is more, that is the reason women community is one of the most vulnerable group worldwide. It is evident from literature that less attention has been paid to highlight the importance of three types of capital for women micro-enterprise. To adress this issue, the current study adopted quantitative research approach and based on cross-sectional research design. Primary data was collected by using 5-point Likert scale. Questionnaires were distributed among the owners of women micro-enterprise in Pakistan by using area cluster sampling. SmartPLS 3 was used to analyze the data. It is found that financial capital, social capital and human capital has significant positive relationship with women micro-enterprise success and previous work experience moderates the relationship. Hence, this study contributed by developing a unique framework for women micro-enterprise success. It will be beneficial for practitioners to enhance women micro-enterprise success rate.

Kemiskinan merupakan salah satu permasalahan mendasar yang telah menjadi perhatian utama berbagai negara di dunia termasuk Indonesia. Agar pengentasan kemiskinan berjalan efektif tentunya perlu diketahui dan diukur kuat pengaruh faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kemiskinan. Faktor-faktor tersebut diantaranya adalah modal SDM dan modal sosial. Untuk mengukur kontribusi faktor-faktor tersebut digunakan analisis regresi. Variabel bebas pada penelitian ini bersifat kategorik biner (1=miskin, 0=tidak) sehingga analisis regresi yang bisa digunakan adalah analisis regresi logistik dan probit. Penelitian ini menggunakan regresi probit untuk mengetahui pengaruh modal sosial dan modal SDM terhadap kemiskinan. Pada analisis regresi probit, asumsi yang harus dipenuhi adalah tidak adanya korelasi antara variabel bebas dan error pada model, apabila hal tersebut tidak terpenuhi maka akan muncul permasalahan yang disebut dengan endogenitas yang mengakibatkan hasil taksiran parameter yang dihasilkan bias. Pada penelitian ini diperoleh informasi bahwa variabel modal sosial merupakan variabel endogen sehingga digunakan metode Two Probit Least Square (2PLS) untuk mengatasi permasalahan endogenitas yang terjadi. Berdasarkan hasil regresi probit dengan menggunakan metode 2PLS diperoleh tiga variabel bebas yang berpengaruh negatif terhadap peluang rumah tangga menjadi miskin, variabel-variabel tersebut adalah modal sosial, lama sekolah dan umur. Sedangkan variabel ukuran rumah tangga berpengaruh positif terhadap peluang rumah tangga menjadi miskin di Indonesia. [Poverty is one of the fundamental problems. It has been a major concern of governments in various countries around the world, including Indonesia. In order for poverty alleviation to be effective, it is necessary to know and measured strongly the influence of factors affecting poverty. These factors include human capital and social capital. To measure the contribution of these factors is used regression analysis. The independent variables in this study are binary categorical (1=poor, 0=no) so that regression analysis that can be used is logistic and probit regression analysis. This research uses probit regression to know the influence of social capital and human capital to poverty. In the probit regression analysis, the assumption that must be met is the absence of correlation between the independent variable and error in the model, if it is not fulfilled then the problem will arise called endogeneity which can lead to bias parameter. In this study obtained information that social capital variable is an endogenous variable, so Two Probit Least Square (2PLS) method used to overcome the problem of endogeneity that happened. Based on the results of probit regression using 2PLS method obtained three independent variables that negatively affect the probability of households to be poor, these variables are social capital, school, and age. While the variable size of households positively affects the probability of households being poor in Indonesia.]
