Abstract Background Electronic health record (EHR) systems often face user resistance in hospitals, which results in a failure to acquire their full benefits. To implement the EHR successfully, it is crucial to reduce nurses’ resistance to use the system. This study aimed to investigate the factors associated with nurses’ resistance to use the EHR system. Methods A descriptive correlational study was conducted with nurses working at four university hospitals in Korea using self-administered questionnaires to measure user resistance behavior, resistance to change, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, perceived value, colleagues’ opinions, self-efficacy for change, and organizational support for change. Path analysis was performed to examine direct and indirect association with user resistance behavior. Results A total of 223 nurses completed the questionnaires. All seven factors were found to be significantly associated with user resistance, either directly or indirectly. The total effect on user resistance behavior was highest in resistance to change (0.65), followed by perceived usefulness (− 0.33); both had direct but no indirect effects. Conversely, self-efficacy for change (− 0.25), perceived value (− 0.21), colleagues’ opinions (− 0.16), perceived ease of use (− 0.16), and organizational support for change (− 0.05) had indirect but no direct effects. Conclusions The study examined the factors associated with nurses’ user resistance behavior after the implementation of a new EHR system. These findings could help hospitals develop better EHR implementation strategies to reduce user resistance behavior among the nursing staff.

BACKGROUND Electronic health record (EHR) systems often face user resistance in hospitals, which results in a failure to acquire the full benefits of EHR systems. It is crucial to reduce nurses’ resistance to use the EHR to implement the system successfully. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to investigate the factors associated with nurses’ resistance to use the EHR system. METHODS A descriptive correlational study was conducted on nurses working at four university hospitals implementing a new EHR within 2 years. Path analysis was performed with seven factors affecting user resistance behavior. RESULTS All seven factors were found to be significantly associated with user resistance, whether directly or indirectly. The total effect on user resistance behavior was highest in resistance to change (0.65), followed by perceived usefulness (-0.33), which both have direct but no indirect effects. Conversely, Self-efficacy (-0.25), perceived value (-0.21), colleagues’ opinion (-0.16), perceived ease of use (-0.16), and organizational support (-0.05) were found to have indirect but no direct effects. CONCLUSIONS The study explored the factors affecting nurses’ user resistance behavior after the implementation of a new EHR system. These findings could help hospitals develop better EHR implementation strategies to reduce user resistance behavior among the nursing staff.

The aim of this study is to predict the perspective of the end-user's resistance for using HRIS application in the context of public healthcare sector in Saudi Arabia. It attempts to open the black box of dispositional resistance to change (DRTC) by conceptualizing it as a dimension set. Furthermore, this study will incorporate the moderating effect of conscientiousness from big five factors of personality traits. Which will provide a better explanation about the influence of DRTC, and an accurate weight of effects caused by the end-user differences. The results were obtained using the survey method, involving 373 responses. The structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to test the hypotheses. The result showed that routine seeking influenced both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, and that both of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness significantly predicted behavioural intention, also that Conscientiousness moderate the relationship between behavioural intention and user resistance behaviour. Theoretically, the study suggests that end user’s resistance could be investigated and understood via various theories in a single model. The findings suggest that managers and system developers need to engage the end-users in developing HRIS in the public healthcare sector.

This study aims to provide a comparative analysis of local and foreign customers’ evaluation on their perception, perceived value, and customer satisfaction toward Gojek mobile application. Data was obtained by spreading the online questionnaire to 200 samples of local and foreign customers. By using quantitative analysis method and Independent Sample T-test, the study reveals that local and foreign customers share different evaluation of the mobile application, perception of service quality, price and trust, which lead to different satisfaction as well. Instead, perceived value on intention to use, perceived quality of service, perceived ease of use, perceived price and perceived usefulness has no difference between local and foreign customers. However, even they have shared nearly the same perceived value of Gojek mobile application, local customers sense the higher value in a whole examination compared to foreign customers. This paper presents a qualitative study on student adoption of mobile library technology in a developing world context. The findings support the applicability of a number of existing constructs from the technology acceptance literature, such as perceived ease of use, social influence and trust. However, they also suggest the need to modify some adoption factors previously found in the literature to fit the specific context of mobile library adoption. Perceived value was found to be a more relevant overarching adoption factor than perceived usefulness for this context. Facilitating conditions were identified as important but these differed somewhat from those covered in earlier literature. The research also uncovered the importance of trialability for this type of application. The findings provide a basis for improving theory in the area of mobile library adoption and suggest a number of practical design recommendations to help designers of mobile library technology to create applications that meet user needs.

The emerging online economy in recent years has facilitated the rapid growth of e-commerce, such as Internet bank, e-wallet, and electronic bidding. Network fellowship auction is a collective effort by people who network and pool their money together by Internet in order to invest in and support efforts initiated by other people or organizations. Network fellowship auction has replaced conventional fellowship auction by offering a new safer and faster financial instrument. This research investigated the determinants of network fellowship auction user acceptance, including consumer perceived risk, perceived value, computer self-efficacy, and product involvement. An online survey was used with a sample of 446 respondents. Structural equation models (SEM) were used to examine hypotheses in the theoretical framework. The results showed that consumer perceived risk substantially negatively influenced perceived ease of use and intention; consumer perceived value positively influenced perceived usefulness; consumer computer self-efficacy positively influenced perceived ease of use. Additionally, consumer perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and product involvement positively influenced consumer intention.

I aimed to show how the sociotechnical fit model may be employed to understand users' perception of the usefulness of enterprise social networks (ESNs). Specifically, I examined the fit between organization, technology, and employee as a determinant of the perceived usefulness of ESNs. Participants were 275 employees of JA Company who had previously used an ESN, and they completed measures of organizational factors, ESN characteristics, task characteristics, organization–technology fit, task–technology fit, perceived ease of use, and perceived usefulness. Results of structural equation modeling showed that organization–technology fit differed based organizational support but not the technological characteristics of ESNs; task–technology fit was influenced by ESN technological features, task features, and organization–technology fit; and there were significant relationships between organization–technology fit and perceived usefulness, between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, and between task–technology fit and perceived ease of use. The research findings contribute to understanding of the roles of organization–technology–human fit constructs that drive people's perception of usefulness in the context of ESNs.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present an integrated information systems–consumer behavior (IS-CB) model for e-shopping to examine the antecedents and consequences of e-shopping and usage behavior. Design/methodology/approach – The study tests 320 usable responses collected from e-shoppers against the integrated model using structural equation modeling. Findings – The main research results support the use of antecedents of e-shopping acceptance and usage by drawing from unified knowledge of IS and CB underpinnings. The findings show the significance of perceived value, social factors, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, entertainment gratification (EG), web irritation (WI), emotional state, and web atmospherics (WA) in the process of e-shopping. Practical implications – The results suggest that e-retailers should establish positive perceived value in consumers’ minds and uphold trust to foster favorable attitudes and intentions toward e-shopping and actual e-shopping purchase. Proper and good construction of WA can lead to useful and easy-to-use e-shopping sites, EG, and minimization of WI. Capitalizing on online social influences also would be an advantage. Originality/value – This paper bridges a gap in the studies of IS and CB, contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of the influence of IS and CB antecedents on acceptance and usage of e-shopping.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate the simultaneous effect of perceived value, image, perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness on passengers’ satisfaction. Design/methodology/approach – The empirical data were collected through survey. The respondents of the survey are 292 public transport passengers in Jakarta, Indonesia. Multiple regressions analysis was performed to test the conceptual model and the proposed hypotheses. Findings – The findings showed that public transport passengers’ satisfaction is influenced by perceived value, perceived usefulness and image while perceived ease of use does not affect public transport passengers’ satisfaction. Research limitations/implications – The authors performed the survey only at Jakarta using convenience sampling method. Hence, the research results may not be generalized to other contexts. Given this, in order to test the stability of the findings in other contexts, a replication research is important to be performed in the future. Practical implications – Public transport service managers need to pay attention to perceived value, perceived usefulness and image in order to ensure public transport passengers’ satisfaction. Originality/value – This study is believed to be the first to develop and test public transport passengers’ satisfaction model that integrated perceived value, image, perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness.
