We have determined the performance of a passive rotational vibration isolator for a time-domain airborne electromagnetic (TDEM) receiver. The isolator uses neutrally buoyant flotation to provide very soft suspension and a very low resonant frequency of 0.065 Hz ± 0.005 Hz. One of the limitations of mapping deeper targets in areas of conductive overburden with TDEM systems is that low-frequency coil-vibration noise provides a lower bound to the transmitter base frequency (typically limited to 25 Hz). The purpose of this new isolator is to improve coil vibration related noise between 5 and 20 Hz to allow the transmitter base frequency to be reduced. A fixed-wing flight test determined that a receiver inside the new isolator had five times less rotational noise at 10 Hz than a current commercial system.

<p>    The fixed-wing time-domain airborne electromagnetic system transmits low-frequency electromagnetic pulse waves with large magnetic moments, receives weak secondary response electromagnetic field signals generated by the underground medium. It can realize deep depth airborne electromagnetic exploration. After 10 years of research and development, the Institute of Geophysical and Geochemical Exploration of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences successfully developed the first-generation fixed-wing time-domain airborne electromagnetic system of China in 2016——iFTEM. The peak transmit current is 600A, and the peak magnetic moment is 5.0 × 10<sup>5</sup>Am<sup>2</sup>. The exploration depth is 350m. Test flights measurement were taken in 2016. Based on the first-generation iFTEM system, we upgraded the system. The new transmitter has a peak transmit current of more than 1000A and a peak magnetic moment of more than 1,000,000Am<sup>2</sup>. It has multi-wave transmit capability. The static noise of the three-component induction coil receiving sensor is better than 0.1nT/√Hz@1kHz. We are developing a time-domain airborne electromagnetic data processing software platform, which includes the data organization, denoising and correction software modules. This paper mainly introduces the development of China's first fixed-wing time-domain airborne electromagnetic instrument. AbstractFor a broad range of applications, flight mechanics simulator models have to accurately predict the aircraft dynamics. However, the development and improvement of such models is a difficult and time consuming process. This is especially true for helicopters. In this paper, two rapidly applicable and implementable methods to derive linear input filters that improve the simulator model are presented. The first method is based on model inversion, the second on feedback control. Both methods are evaluated in the time domain, compared to recorded helicopter flight test data, and assessed based on root mean square errors and the Qualification Test Guide bounds. The best results were achieved when using the first method.

SUMMARY Estimating shear wave velocity with depth from Rayleigh-wave dispersion data is limited by the accuracy of fundamental and higher mode identification and characterization. In many cases, the fundamental mode signal propagates exclusively in retrograde motion, while higher modes propagate in prograde motion. It has previously been shown that differences in particle motion can be identified with multicomponent recordings and used to separate prograde from retrograde signals. Here we explore the domain of existence of prograde motion of the fundamental mode, arising from a combination of two conditions: (1) a shallow, high-impedance contrast and (2) a high Poisson ratio material. We present solutions to isolate fundamental and higher mode signals using multicomponent recordings. Previously, a time-domain polarity mute was used with limited success due to the overlap in the time domain of fundamental and higher mode signals at low frequencies. We present several new approaches to overcome this low-frequency obstacle, all of which utilize the different particle motions of retrograde and prograde signals. First, the Hilbert transform is used to phase shift one component by 90° prior to summation or subtraction of the other component. This enhances either retrograde or prograde motion and can increase the mode amplitude. Secondly, we present a new time–frequency domain polarity mute to separate retrograde and prograde signals. We demonstrate these methods with synthetic and field data to highlight the improvements to dispersion images and the resulting dispersion curve extraction.

This work presents an approachto predict the low frequency and wave frequency responses (LFR and WFR) of afloating structure using Kalman smoother adaptive filters based time domain Volterramodel. This method utilized time series of a measured wave height as systeminput and surge motion as system output and used to generate the linear andnonlinear transfer function (TFs). Based on those TFs, predictions of surgemotion in terms of LFR and WFR were carried out in certain frequency ranges ofwave heights. The applicability of the proposed method is then applied in ascaled 1:100 model of a semisubmersible prototype.

Airborne induced‐polarization (IP) measurements can be obtained with standard time‐domain airborne electromagnetic (EM) equipment, but only in the limited circumstances when the ground is sufficiently resistive that the normal EM response is small and when the polarizability of the ground is sufficiently large that the IP response can dominate the EM response. Further, the dispersion in conductivity must be within the bandwidth of the EM system. One example of what is hypothesized to be IP effects are the negative transients observed on a GEOTEM® survey in the high arctic of Canada. The dispersion in conductivity required to explain the data is very large, but is not inconsistent with some laboratory measurements. Whether the dispersion is caused by an electrolytic or dielectric polarization is not clear from the limited ground follow‐up, but in either case the polarization can be considered to be induced by eddy currents associated with the EM response of the ground. If IP effects are the cause of the negative transients in the GEOTEM data, then the data can be used to estimate the polarizabilities in the area.
