The production of cane sugar accompanies the formation of a waste called bagasse, which can serve as a source for obtaining sorption-active materials. The purpose of this work was to determine the composition and the characteristics of thermal destruction of bagasse. The composition of the bagasse was determined - 47.59 wt. % cellulose, 26.92 wt. % hemicellulose, 21.53 wt. % lignin, 1.37 wt. % of the substance extracted with organic solvents and 2.59 wt. % of ash. In an oxidizing environment, the destruction of bagasse occurs intensively in the range 230-520°C with the release of thermal energy, in a protective medium in the range 240-395°C without the release of thermal energy.

The rate of heat destruction of spores of 12 selected strains of Bacillus species was determined in skimmilk. Bacillus cereus and Bacillus licheniformis, the most prevalent Bacillus species in raw milk, were most heat resistant. The D values at 100 C ranged from 0.875 min for Bacillus pumilus to 4.10 min for B. licheniformis A-5. Extremes for Z values were 6.4 C for B. licheniformis A-1 and 11.5 C for Bacillus circulans. For each of the spores studied, linear regression equations with standard error are presented for the thermal destruction process at 95, 97.5, and 100 C. Heat resistance of bacillus spores in milk varied between the strains studied and the heating conditions imposed.

The paper studies the factors of secular stagnation. Key factors of long-term slowdown in economic growth include the slowdown of technological development, aging population, human capital accumulation limits, high public debt, creative destruction process violation etc. The authors analyze key theoretical aspects of long-term stagnation and study the impact of these factors on Japanies economy. The authors conclude that most of the factors have significant influence on the Japanese economy for recent decades, but they cannot explain all dynamics. For Russia, on the contrary, we do not see any grounds for considering the decline in the economy since 2013 as an episode of secular stagnation.

We introduce poly(1,6-pyrene terephthalamide) polymer (PPyrTA) as an aromatic polyamide analogue of poly(p-phenylene terephthalamide) (PPTA), also known as Kevlar®. This work shows that the incorporation of polycyclic aromatic pyrene moieties improves drastically the mechanical properties of the polymeric structure, increasing elastic nanoindentation-determined modulus and hardness by factors of 1.9 and 4.3, respectively. Liquid deprotonated dispersions of PPyrTA nanofibers were used as nanoscale building block for producing large-surface, free-standing polymer macroscopic nanofilms. This 2D assembly leads to further significant improvements in reduced modulus and hardness (more than twice) compared to the starting polymer macroscale fibres, due to a better re-organizational arrangement of the PPyrTA nanofibers in the nanofilms, formed under 2D spatial confinement.

This research deals with the mechanical properties, microstructure, and interrelations of triple nanocomposite based on PET/EPDM/Nanoclay. These properties were examined in different percentages of PET/EPDM blend with compatibilizer (Styrene-Ethylene/Butylene-Styrene)-G-(Maleic anhydrate) (SEBS-g-MAH). Results showed that the addition of 15% SEBS-g-MAH improved the toughness and impact strength of this nanocomposite. SEM micrographs indicated the most stable fuzzy microstructure in a 50/50 mixture of scattered phases of EPDM/SEBS-g-MAH. The effects of percentages of 1, 3, 5, 7 nanoclay Cloisite 30B (C30B) on the improvement of the properties were evaluated. With the addition of nano clay, the toughness and impact strength was reduced. Thermal destruction of nanoclay in processing temperature led to the decreasing dispersion of clay plates in the matrix and a reduction in the distances of nano clay plates in the composite compared to pure nano clay. XRD and TEM analysis was used to demonstrate the results. By adding 1% of nanoclay to the optimal sample, maximum stiffness, and Impact strength, among other nanocomposites, was achieved.
