SummaryElectronic physician documentation is an essential element of a complete electronic medical record (EMR). At Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, a teaching hospital affiliated with Stanford University, we implemented an inpatient electronic documentation system for physicians over a 12-month period. Using an EMR-based free-text editor coupled with automated import of system data elements, we were able to achieve voluntary, widespread adoption of the electronic documentation process. When given the choice between electronic versus dictated report creation, the vast majority of users preferred the electronic method. In addition to increasing the legibility and accessibility of clinical notes, we also decreased the volume of dictated notes and scanning of handwritten notes, which provides the opportunity for cost savings to the institution.

This study aimed to evaluate the e-learning experience at Al Bayan Model Private Schools for Girls in Jeddah, at the intermediate and secondary levels. The researcher used the descriptive approach. The questionnaire was used as a study tool and was applied to a sample of 41 female teachers and 162 female students who are using the e-learning method at intermediate and secondary stages. The study found several results, the most important of them are: There are relatively small differences in favor of the electronic method when comparing the achievement of students in e-learning to themselves and to their colleagues in the traditional classes, and that the method of e-learning contributes in increasing the ability of the teacher inpresenting information to the students. Based on these results, the study recommended several proposals, the most important of them are: To prepare teachers and students in all stages of education to accept e-learning before its application.

For clinical simulation to be of maximum benefit, obtaining timely feedback from participants is vital in ensuring suitable improvements are made in the content and delivery of teaching in this setting. This report reviews the literature and describes the use of quick response (QR) codes instead of paper feedback forms following simulation-based learning sessions for fourth-year medical students. This newly implemented electronic method of collecting feedback has resulted in an increase in feedback response rate, reduction in administrative workload and a reduced carbon footprint. We also discuss other QR code-based innovations currently being implemented in this setting.

Cyber-attacks happen faster and more spontaneously than traditional warfare. This cyber landscape offers new challenges to organizations due to its unique nature. Building organizations to defend against cyber terrorism and innovating offensive solutions calls for strong information sharing amongst government and military organizations, as well as industry partners. Using an innovative electronic method to collect quantitative and qualitative data from experts, this study seeks to explore the effectiveness and establishment of information sharing practices and procedures in U.S. government cybersecurity organizations. This study also considers the impact of media leaks and terrorism on information sharing practices and procedures.

The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of electronic apex locators to determine the root canal length in teeth of dogs. For this purpose, APIT and ENDOSONIC units, which are third generation apex locator devices, were used to identify the root length in 58 teeth (82 roots). The electronic method was compared to radiographic and tactile sense methods. The results showed that APIT and ENDOSONIC devices were ineffective when used to determine the root canal length in 2–3 year-old dogs. A beep indicating the canal depth was heard in only two of 82 (2.4%) canals. The digital-tactile sense method with radiographic confirmation is more appropriate for root length measurement than the electronic method during endodontic therapy in dogs.
