Overweight and obesity are major risk factors for a number of chronic diseases, including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and cancer (World Health Organization, 2011; National Institutes of Health, 1998). Children with high BMI often become obese adults (Serdula, Ivery, Coates, Freedman, Williamson, & Byers, 1993). According to the World Health Organization (2011), obesity is preventable. While it is well known that obesity can be prevented, it often is not. This article examines how healthy eating education has an impact on food choices of college students in a liberal arts college in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The researchers will discuss the implications for educators, administrators, and researchers. Findings, conclusions, and recommendations will be presented.

This article shows the results of a study of the cyberbullying and cyberstalking experiences of students at a public liberal arts college. A survey was administered online to sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students at the college. The prevalence rates were 10% for cyberbullying and 9% for cyberstalking, shown in the sample of 471 respondents. Traditional college students under 25 years of age were experiencing and participating in cyberbullying at higher rates than older college students. Prior experience as a victim of cyberbullying in high school was a significant risk factor for cyberbullying and cyberstalking in college, which implies that students’ roles in cyberbullying are maintained from high school to college. The majority of college students are handling cyberbullying incidents themselves rather than utilizing campus resources, but two-thirds of respondents would be more likely to consider reporting an incident if there was a central e-mail address available for reporting incidents.

This article discusses liberal arts college students’ perceptions of environmental and ecological justice. Complementing emerging studies of education that tackles human–environment relationships, this article discusses student assignments related to the debates in social/environmental and ecological justice written as part of the course ‘Environment and Development’. Student assignments are analysed with the aim of gauging their view on the environment and society, identifying reasoning patterns about the anthropocentrism–ecocentrism continuum. In conclusion, this article distills recommendations for the design of a university curriculum that can facilitate the development of a non-anthropocentric worldview.

This article presents an instrument designed to differentiate Christians from non-Christians. The instrument reflects the belief that published past attempts to measure Christianity have underutilized the Bible as a resource. Therefore, in the construction of this instrument, the New Testament was searched for qualities characteristic of Christians and then these were used as the basis for determining item content. When administered to a sample of college students from a small Christian liberal arts college the instrument, the Shepherd Scale, demonstrated promising reliability and validity. As a further test of the instrument's validity it was also given to a broader range of people living in the suburbs of a metropolitan area. Again, the Shepherd Scale seemed to “separate the sheep from the goats.”
