The goal of the research is to present an integrated approach that combines multi criteria analysis and disaster and emergency management. The study is based on a well know multi criteria technique, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). An AHP model is proposed in order to define a Disaster Risk Management Performance Index (DRMPI) that quantifies the performance and effectiveness of risk management to evaluate emergency alternative problems. This model is implemented in a real case study.

Information attacks are a constant threat to every organization. To protect their sensitive information, organizations implement general information technology controls. An example of such controls includes system change controls (or change management controls), which are critical in ensuring the integrity, completeness, and reliability of financial information. The literature points to various evaluation methods of these controls to determine which ones to implement. The literature further shows how traditional assessment methods do not necessarily promote an effective evaluation, prioritization, and, therefore, implementation of system change controls in organizations. Alarming facts within the literature trigger analyses and identification of additional methods to assist organizations in protecting their sensitive and critical information. This research proposes a quantitative approach to assist management in evaluating system change controls using the Analytic Hierarchy Process. Through a case study, the approach is proven successful in providing a way for measuring the quality of system change controls in organizations.

The traditional method of assessing software quality is through software testing. In the past two decades, numerous test criteria have been proposed. Although the generation and evaluation of a test set is important, the ultimate goal is to ensure the quality of the software under test. It is risky to validate software by using test sets with respect to an arbitrarily selected test adequacy criterion as it can lead to incorrect conclusions on the quality of the software. In this paper we examine how different test criteria can be combined into one measurement to assess the adequacy of test sets. Based on the subsumption relation between these criteria, a multi-criterion decision making method, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), is used to determine the weight of each test adequacy criterion. A case study reported here suggests that the combined criterion so generated provides a more objective and precise measurement of the fault detection capability of test sets than does a single-member test criterion.

In the post WWW era, the research of e-learning focuses on facilitating intelligent and proactive services for learners. The quality of user experience determines whether e-learning services would be accepted by learners. However, many researchers traditionally focus on the effectiveness of computer systems or the accuracy of algorithms themselves rather than on user-centric psychological experience. How to model and evaluate user experience taking into account user psychological and cognitive properties are challenging research topics. There are some traditional methods typically proposed to evaluate users’ psychological experience, such as interview, questionnaire etc. They are qualitative and easy to conduct but need more time and resource. And they are liable to subjective views. Based on user web log data, the current paper presents a quantitative approach of modeling user psychological experience in the context of intelligent e-learning. The properties and elements, which affect user experience, are analyzed and quantified. The holistic user experience is quantified through the fusion of analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and Delphi methods. A case study, at a university in China, is conducted for diagnosing whether the result of the proposed approach can be uniform with user subjective experience, and indicates that the proposed approach is effective and complements existing user experience research in intelligent e-learning.
