Pilonidal sinus is a chronic inflammatory disease caused by the penetration of hair into the skin. Most often, it is located in the intergluteal area, but it may also develop at a different location. It is usually caused by the penetration of human hair, but animal hair can alaso cause it in rare cases. In the world publications, there are reports of the disease in other, often distant locations, e.g. the suprapubic area, armpit, foot, penis, umbilicus, eyelid, clitoris, intermammary cleft, nose, or scar after removing a Tenckhoff catheter. Usually, it is human hair that causes the formation of pilonidal sinus, but the literature also reports cases caused by animal hair in people who shear sheep. There is no other Polish publication describing pilonidal sinus of animal origin. The article presents a case of atypical pilonidal sinus caused by animal hair, located between the fingers of the patient who is professionally involved in shearing dogs. In the presented clinical case, treatment involved staged fistulotomy with the use of surgical thread. The patient was cured and full function of the hand was preserved. Staged fistulotomy is a safe procedure and can be used to treat pilonidal sinus of the hand.

Abstract Idiopathic Granulomatous Mastitis (IGM) is a rare chronic inflammatory disease that involves the development of an inflammatory mass in the breast, which may be difficult to differentiate from malignancy. Few patients have been reported in the literature presenting with arthritis accompanying IGM of breast. Here we report a case of Iraqi patient presented as IGM with reactive arthritis and erythema nodosum.

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease with characteristic skin manifestations. Several pathogens can cause flare-ups of psoriasis. The risks of skin infections are increased in patients receiving immunomodulators. A patient with chronic psoriasis presented with human papillomavirus infection and anogenital warts and was treated surgically with acceptable results.

Kimura disease is a rare chronic inflammatory disease with angiolymphatic proliferation of unknown etiology predominantly seen among young Asian males. It classically shows a triad of non-tender subcutaneous masses predominantly in head and neck region with tissue and blood eosinophilia and raised serum IgE level. Here we present a case report of a 24 years male with bilateral pre-auricular and post-auricular swelling for 6 years. The diagnosis of Kimura disease was made on the basis of clinical and histopathological examination.Bangladesh Journal of Medical Science Vol.17(1) 2018 p.152-154

Abstract Ankylosing spondylitis is a chronic inflammatory disease that results in the slow progressive transformation of the normal spine into a rigid and brittle tube containing the normal neural elements. This pathological condition predisposes the patient to fractures of this structure and a potential for neurological damage greater than that of the normal population. We present a spontaneous fracture of the C1-C2 complex through the base of the dens, with impending neurological deficits in such a patient. We have reviewed the pertinent literature and emphasized several points relative to the management of similar patients.

Cold atmospheric plasma sources are emerging as new potent tools in different fields of medicine, from oncology to dermatology. Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by the presence of itchy red plaque on skin, known as psoriatic plaques. In this case report, we evaluate the effectiveness of a cold atmospheric plasma treatment on a psoriatic plaque on the hand of a 20-year-old woman. Two quick applications of the procedure led to a complete disappearance of the cutaneous lesion in 14 days. The results of this case show a potential application of this new technique in the dermatological field, as palmo-plantar psoriasis is usually resistant to traditional treatments. A clinical trial would be necessary in order to evaluate the real effectiveness of this plasma.

Crohn’s disease is a multi-systemic chronic inflammatory disease that can affect various organs besides the gastrointestinal tract such as joints, uvea, and the skin. Vulvar Crohn’s disease is a rare entity occurring with vulvar lesions that show typical Crohn’s disease granulomatous inflammation but are not contiguous with the gastrointestinal involvement. Vulvar Crohn’s disease can be easily confused with other granulomatous diseases and awareness that such involvement may precede gastrointestinal symptoms must be raised. Few cases of vulvar Crohn’s disease have been reported in the literature to date. Here, we report a case of a 43-year-old woman with a 6-month history of a vulvar lesion; the patient was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease of the large bowel just over a year ago.
