Introduction. The influence of the dental apparatus on the balance of the body in an upright position has been widely discussed in the literature for several decades. Examination of the patient taking into account his postural balance makes it possible to clarify the reasons for the low effectiveness of pain syndromes treatment of the craniocervical region caused by malocclusion, as well as ineffective correction of musculoskeletal dysfunction of the temporomandibular joint (MSD TMJ) associated with posture disorders. The aim of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment of patients with dental anomalies and musculoskeletal dysfunctions of the temporomandibular joint and concomitant somatic dysfunctions (if any) by methods of orthodontic and osteopathic correction.Materials and methods. The study involved 102 patients aged from 18 to 45 years with TMJ. All patients underwent orthodontic and osteopathic examination. 3 groups of patients were formed: № 1 — exclusively with dental anomalies TMJ (occlusive dysfunction), who received only orthodontic treatment, № 2 with concomitant somatic (extra-occlusive) dysfunctions, who received only orthodontic treatment, and №3 with concomitant somatic (extra-occlusive) dysfunctions, who received both orthodontic and osteopathic treatment. Orthodontic treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunction of the TMJ consisted of the occlusive kappa manufacturing. Osteopathic correction was carried out individually, taking into account the identified somatic dysfunctions, on average 3 sessions. Patients also received drug therapy, and they performed myohymnastics for the masticatory muscles. The clinical dysfunction index (Helkimo M.) was used to control the elimination dynamics of the TMJ's musculoskeletal dysfunction symptoms. The assessment of the pain dynamics in the TMJ was carried out by a visual-analog scale (VAS). The evaluation of the osteopathic treatment effectiveness was carried out on the basis of computer stabilometry data and osteopathic examination data. A stabilometric study was performed on the «ST-150» («Biomera») stabiloplatform in the Romberg sample (European foot installation) with open and closed eyes in two positions of the lower jaw: 1) in a state of physiological rest (tooth rows are separated); 2) in the kappa with closed tooth rows.Results. The MSD TMJ symptoms were eliminated 10 weeks after the start of treatment in all (100 %) patients of group № 1 and group № 3. Among the patients in group № 2, only 12,1 % of patients had complete absence of MSD TMJ symptoms, while all patients in this group had a statistically significant decrease in the clinical index of Helkimo dysfunction. In one third of the group № 2 patients on the 12th week of orthodontic treatment, headaches and/or pains in other parts of the musculoskeletal system (neck, back, shoulders, arms) prevailed among complaints and which were previously indicated in the anamnesis. This occurred after the elimination of the MSD TMJ symptoms. The absolute majority of patients in group № 3 (97,1 %) noted the complete disappearance of headaches and/or pains in other parts of the musculoskeletal system (neck, back, shoulders, arms). Also, in patients of this group, stabilometric indicators were normalized in a state of physiological rest and in the kappa.Conclusion. Patients with somatic dysfunctions need complex treatment with the participation of an osteopath and a dentist. When assessing the osteopathic status of a patient, it is important to determine whether the patient has only occlusive dysfunctions or there are also extra-occlusive ones. Additional osteopathic correction is recommended for patients with extraocclusive dysfunctions in order to achieve treatment results comparable in effectiveness and timing.

We describe and delimit with integrative taxonomy the new springtail species Desoria calderonis sp. nov. (Collembola: Isotomidae). This cryophilic species is strictly linked to the supraglacial stony debris of the isolated Calderone glacier (Central Apennines, Italy), one of the southernmost glaciers of Europe. Desoria calderonis sp. nov. could belong to the nivalis-complex, a group of European mountain species included in the violacea-group. Genetic analysis (COI mtDNA barcoding) confirms the morphological attribution to the genus Desoria Nicolet in Desor, 1841, but highlights that the genus, in its current definition, is polyphyletic. We specify the peculiar micro-habitat preferences and highlight the threat of extinction for this cryophilic species in the context of the ongoing climate change and subsequent risk of complete disappearance of the glacier.

We describe here the case of a female patient with type I diabetes who developed active Charcot neuroarthropathy in the foot. Due to therapeutic noncompliance, talus necrosis was discovered 2 years after the presentation of neuroarthropathy. The impact of untreated neuroarthropathy on the bone is commonly described as fracture and joint dislocation, but we describe the complete disappearance of the bony structure and its necrosis associated with active neuroarthropathy in a patient who refused offloading.

Introduction: Adenomyomatosis is a benign alterations of gall bladder wall that can be found in 9% of patients. We present a case of gall bladder adenomyomatosis of young male presented with right upper quadrant pain. Case Report: A 22 year old male admitted with a history of pain over right upper quadrant for 8 months. The patient’s physical examination revealed tenderness over the right hypochondrium region. Contrast enhanced computed tomography showed - gall bladder wall appeared diffusely thickened with multiple small cystic areas noted. Conclusion: Symptomatic gall bladder adenomyomatosis is an indicator for cholecystectomy, which results in complete disappearance of symptoms. Asymptomatic cases are not an indication for surgery, but the radiological diagnosis must be beyond any doubt. If there is a any diagnostic doubt about the possibility of gall bladder cancer, a cholecystectomy is justified.

PURPOSE We evaluated whether combining a humanized antidisialoganglioside monoclonal antibody (hu14.18K322A) throughout therapy improves early response and outcomes in children with newly diagnosed high-risk neuroblastoma. PATIENTS AND METHODS We conducted a prospective, single-arm, three-stage, phase II clinical trial. Six cycles of induction chemotherapy were coadministered with hu14.18K322A, granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), and low-dose interleukin-2 (IL-2). The consolidation regimen included busulfan and melphalan. When available, an additional cycle of parent-derived natural killer cells with hu14.18K322A was administered during consolidation (n = 31). Radiation therapy was administered at the end of consolidation. Postconsolidation treatment included hu14.18K322A, GM-CSF, IL-2, and isotretinoin. Early response was assessed after the first two cycles of induction therapy. End-of-induction response, event-free survival (EFS), and overall survival (OS) were evaluated. RESULTS Sixty-four patients received hu14.18K322A with induction chemotherapy. This regimen was well tolerated, with continuous infusion narcotics. Partial responses (PRs) or better after the first two chemoimmunotherapy cycles occurred in 42 of 63 evaluable patients (66.7%; 95% CI, 55.0 to 78.3). Primary tumor volume decreased by a median of 75% (range, 100% [complete disappearance]-5% growth). Median peak hu14.18K322A serum levels in cycle one correlated with early response to therapy ( P = .0154, one-sided t-test). Sixty of 62 patients (97%) had an end-of-induction partial response or better. No patients experienced progressive disease during induction. The 3-year EFS was 73.7% (95% CI, 60.0 to 83.4), and the OS was 86.0% (95% CI, 73.8 to 92.8), respectively. CONCLUSION Adding hu14.18K322A to induction chemotherapy improved early objective responses, significantly reduced tumor volumes in most patients, improved end-of-induction response rates, and yielded an encouraging 3-year EFS. These results, if validated in a larger study, may be practice changing.

AbstractBlastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) is a rare hematopoietic neoplasm for which there are no effective therapies. We present a 70-year-old male patient with multiple reddish painless, nonpruritic, and nonpedunculated nodules over the trunk, forearm, and thighs for a duration of 3 months. The nodules measured 0.5 to 2 cm in diameter. The peripheral smear findings were within normal limits. Excision biopsy was performed. Histomorphology and immunohistochemistry (CD123, CD 56, CD4, HLA-DR, CD43, and CD68) confirmed the diagnosis of BPDCN. Findings of marrow aspiration, biopsy and imaging studies were within normal limits. Patient demonstrated a good response with complete disappearance of all nodules by initial 2 weeks of therapy with a modified Berlin–Frankfurt–Munster (BFM) acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) protocol and has completed 8 doses (LSAP [lincosamides, streptogramins A and pleuromutilins chemotherapy], 5,000 units/m2). The patient tolerated protocol extremely well.

The article deals with the descendants of the speakers of the Seto idiom who moved from the western part of the Russian Empire to Siberia during Stolypin's agrarian reform. Based on the materials of expeditions to settlements in the Krasnoyarsk territory, where the Setos still live compactly, the preservation of the idiom is investigated, conclusions are drawn about some of the reasons for the loss of the language. Positive aspects are stated, such as high language loyalty, amazing safety during long-term contacts not only with Russian, but also with the closely related Estonian language. Nontrivial features of language transmission are described, attention is paid to two factors that influenced the language (non) transmission. First, it is the “monopoly” of grandmothers on the transfer of the language to the younger generation. Traditionally, grandmothers are engaged in raising children in the Siberian Seto community, since, unlike their parents, they are no longer engaged in production. At the moment, those who were brought up by their grandmothers preserve the language best of all. It often happens that the younger siblings, who have not found their grandmothers, do not know the language, while the older ones have a good command of the language. In such cases, parents who once received the language from their grandmothers communicate with older children in Seto, and the younger ones cannot support the conversation, although they understand and answer in Russian. Another factor highlighted in the article is the concentration of speakers. Three cases identified during the author's sociolinguistic survey are shown, in which the variable of speakers concentration turned out to be relevant at a level lower than the local one, in terms of (Grenoble & Whaley 1998). It turned out that even within a very small settlement there may be a different concentration of native speakers of the idiom in different parts, which, in turn, entails differences in the acquisition of languages by children at preschool age. In a very small settlement, the appearance of a critical mass of non-Seto speakers caused the displacement of the idiom from the sphere of home communication and, as a result, its complete disappearance.

In May 2016, larvae of the invasive species Metcalfa pruinosa (Say, 1830) were recorded for the first time on the territory of the botanical-geographic area ‘The Far East’ in the N.N. Gryshko National Botanical Garden, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv. During five years of observations, the insect managed to expand its range to other areas of the Botanical Garden and adjacent territories, where it reached a high population density. It is still the northernmost point of the insect’s detection on the territory of Ukraine. The range of M. pruinosa host plants was examined. The species lives on a large number of ornamental and synanthropic plants, fruit and vegetable crops which belong to 80 species from 55 families. The most susceptible to colonization by citrus cicada are: Rosaceae - 18 species, Aceraceae - 5 species, Oleacea e - 4 plant species. It has been found out that M. pruinosa has one generation per year. In the first decade of May, the appearance of cicada larvae is observed. The first adults are recorded in early or mid-July, depending on the meteorological conditions of the year. The complete disappearance of adults is observed at the end of August. The insect's development is limited by a minimum air temperature of 17-20 °С. In the future, it is necessary to monitor and analyze comprehensively those various factors that may affect the emergence, propagation, and survival of M. pruinosa on new territories.

Abstract Organic semiconductors (OSC) are generally considered intrinsic (undoped), an assumption which underpins our understanding of the charge transport in this promising class of materials. However, this premise conflicts with a variety of experimental observations, that suggest the presence of excess holes carriers in OSCs at room temperature. Here, using a low-power plasma de-doping method, we report that trace amounts (~1015 cm-3) of oxygen-induced organic radical cations (OIORCs) are inherent in the lattice of OSCs as innate hole carriers, and that this is the origin of the p-type characteristics exhibited by the majority of these materials. This finding clarifies previously unexplained organic electronics phenomena and provides a foundation upon which to re-understand charge transport in OSCs. Furthermore, the de-doping method can eliminate the trace OIORCs, resulting in the complete disappearance of p-type behavior, while re-doping (under light irradiation in O2), reverses the process. These methods can precisely modulate key electronic characteristics (e.g., conductivity, polarity, and threshold voltage) in a nondestructive way, expanding the explorable charge transport property space for all known OSC materials. Accordingly, we conclude that our tailorable OIORC doping strategy, requiring only off-the-shelf equipment and a glovebox, will become a core technology in the burgeoning organic electronics industry.
