AbstractThis paper presents the most important technical tools that are needed for designing homogeneous photoreactors using computer simulation of a rigorous mathematical description of the reactor performance. Employing intrinsic reaction kinetic models and parameters derived from properly analyzed laboratory information, it is shown that is possible to scale up reactors with no additional information and without resorting to empirically adjusted correcting factors. The method is illustrated with two processes of degradation of organic pollutants as typical applications of the newly developed Advanced Oxidation Technologies. Two reactors, having pilot plant sizes, are modeled to show the proposed approach. Predictions from the models are compared with experimental data obtaining reasonable good results. They provide confidence on mathematical modeling as a design methodology for homogeneous photochemical reactors.

<p>The article deals with the application of the method for mathematical modeling and simulation at solving some issues in the area of electrostatic technology. It focuses on the processes in electrostatic separation and precipitation. Computer simulation is highly required for equipment design and for their diagnostics in critical operating states using theoretical calculations and experimental data evaluation. The presented computer models may be applied both by project and design engineers using the most advanced computer-aided design of electrostatic technologies.</p>

Agriculture is the backbone of human sustenance in this world. With growing population, there is need for increased productivity in agriculture to be able to meet the demands. Diseases can occur on any part of a plant, but in this paper only the symptoms in the fruits of a plant is considered using segmentation algorithm and edge/ sizing detectors. We also looked at image processing using fuzzy logic controller. The system was designed using object oriented analysis and design methodology. It was implemented using MySQL for the database, and PHP programming language. This system will be of great benefit to farmers and will encourage them in investing their resources since crop diseases can be detected and eliminated early.

A novel 3-UP3R parallel mechanism with six degree of freedoms is proposed in this paper. One most important advantage of this mechanism is that the three translational and three rotational motions are partially decoupled: the end-effector position is only determined by three inputs, while the rotational angles are relative to all six inputs. The design methodology via GF set theory is brought out, using which the limb type can be determined. The mobility of the end-effector is analyzed. After that, the kinematic and velocity models are formulated. Then, workspace is studied, and since the robot is partially decoupled, the reachable workspace is also the dexterous workspace. In the end, both local and global performances are discussed using conditioning indexes. The experiment of real prototype shows that this mechanism works well and may be applied in many fields.

Fully updated for the 2020 Edition of the ASME B31.3 Code, this fourth edition provides background information, historical perspective, and expert commentary on the ASME B31.3 Code requirements for process piping design and construction. It provides the most complete coverage of the Code that is available today and is packed with additional information useful to those responsible for the design and mechanical integrity of process piping. The author and the primary contributor to the fourth edition, Don Frikken are a long-serving members, and Prior Chairmen, of the ASME B31.3, Process Piping Code committee. Dr. Becht explains the principal intentions of the Code, covering the content of each of the Code's chapters. Book inserts cover special topics such as calculation of refractory lined pipe wall temperature, spring design, design for vibration, welding processes, bonding processes and expansion joint pressure thrust. Appendices in the book include useful information for pressure design and flexibility analysis as well as guidelines for computer flexibility analysis and design of piping systems with expansion joints. From the new designer wanting to known how to size a pipe wall thickness or design a spring to the expert piping engineer wanting to understand some nuance or intent of the code, everyone whose career involves process piping will find this to be a valuable reference.

The hydrodynamic and thermal state in the contact zone of the layers of a bimetallic product obtained by pouring liquid iron onto a solid steel billet, which changes in time and is responsible for the strength of the diffusion joint and the geometric parameters of the transition layer, has been investigated. Simplified analytical dependences, mathematical modeling data and experimental results of the liquid phase existence time in the contact zone based on research of the melt velocities during pouring and changes in the thermal field are presented. It is shown that simplified calculations data coincide in order and are close in values to the calculations of mathematical modeling and experimental data, which makes it possible to use them for preliminary rough estimates by technologists and metallurgists.
