AbstractConsider a parabolic equation which is degenerate on the boundary. By the degeneracy, to assure the well-posedness of the solutions, only a partial boundary condition is generally necessary. When 1 ≤ α < p – 1, the existence of the local BV solution is proved. By choosing some kinds of test functions, the stability of the solutions based on a partial boundary condition is established.

The well-posedness problem of anisotropic parabolic equation with variable exponents is studied in this paper. The weak solutions and the strong solutions are introduced, respectively. By a generalized Gronwall inequality, the stability of strong solutions to this equation is established, and the uniqueness of weak solutions is proved. Compared with the related works, a new boundary value condition, ∏ i = 1 N a i x , t = 0 , x , t ∈ ∂ Ω × 0 , T , is introduced the first time and has been proved that it can take place of the Dirichlet boundary value condition in some way.

In the paper, the stability and convergence of difference schemes approximating semilinear parabolic equation with a nonlocal condition are considered. The proof is based on the properties of M-matrices, not requiring the symmetry or diagonal predominance of difference problem. The main presumption is that all the eigenvalues of the corresponding difference problem with nonlocal conditions are positive.

AbstractWe study the existence of weak solutions to a Newtonian fluid∼non-Newtonian fluid mixed-type equation $$ {u_{t}}= \operatorname{div} \bigl(b(x,t){ \bigl\vert {\nabla A(u)} \bigr\vert ^{p(x) - 2}}\nabla A(u)+\alpha (x,t)\nabla A(u) \bigr)+f(u,x,t). $$ u t = div ( b ( x , t ) | ∇ A ( u ) | p ( x ) − 2 ∇ A ( u ) + α ( x , t ) ∇ A ( u ) ) + f ( u , x , t ) . We assume that $A'(s)=a(s)\geq 0$ A ′ ( s ) = a ( s ) ≥ 0 , $A(s)$ A ( s ) is a strictly increasing function, $A(0)=0$ A ( 0 ) = 0 , $b(x,t)\geq 0$ b ( x , t ) ≥ 0 , and $\alpha (x,t)\geq 0$ α ( x , t ) ≥ 0 . If $$ b(x,t)=\alpha (x,t)=0,\quad (x,t)\in \partial \Omega \times [0,T], $$ b ( x , t ) = α ( x , t ) = 0 , ( x , t ) ∈ ∂ Ω × [ 0 , T ] , then we prove the stability of weak solutions without the boundary value condition.

We investigate an initial-boundary value problem for a quasilinear parabolic equation with inner absorption and nonlinear Neumann boundary condition. We establish, respectively, the conditions on nonlinearity to guarantee thatu(x,t)exists globally or blows up at some finite timet*. Moreover, an upper bound fort*is derived. Under somewhat more restrictive conditions, a lower bound fort*is also obtained.

This paper considers the stability of constant solutions to the 1D Euler equation. The idea is to investigate the effect of different function spaces on the well-posedness and stability of the null solution of the 1D linearized Euler equations. It is shown that the mathematical tools and results depend on the meaning of the concepts “perturbation,” “small perturbation,” “solution of the propagation problem,” and “small solution, that is, solution close to zero,” which are specific for each function space.

AbstractWe consider the obstacle problem for the Schrödinger evolution in the exterior of the unit ball with Dirichlet boundary condition. Under radial symmetry we compute explicitly the fundamental solution for the linear Dirichlet Schrödinger propagator and give a robust algorithm to prove sharp L1 → L∞ dispersive estimates. We showcase the analysis in dimensions n = 5, 7. As an application, we obtain global well–posedness and scattering for defocusing energy-critical NLS on with Dirichlet boundary condition and radial data in these dimensions.
