AbstractThe main aim of this study is threefold. First, it tries to assess the passenger satisfaction with public bus transport services in the city of Lucknow in India. Second, it tries to examine the service quality attributes that influence the passenger satisfaction. Third, it tries to evaluate the relative importance of service quality attributes to find out the priority for service quality improvements to enhance passenger satisfaction. The study is based on a survey of objective as well as subjective questions conducted between May and July 2014. Five major bus stops of Lucknow were selected for the survey. Total 148 respondents were randomly selected to elicit their overall satisfaction and factors that influence their satisfaction in the use of public bus transport services in Lucknow using a self-rated questionnaire. The collected sample of responses is subjected to principal component analysis, a statistical technique for dimensionality reduction of the dataset, and descriptive analysis. The result of theses analyses shows that passengers are mostly dissatisfied with public bus transport services in Lucknow. Using principal component analysis, five underlying factors were extracted that influenced passenger satisfaction with public bus transport services in the city. Out of these five factors, comfort and safety has the greatest impact on overall satisfaction, followed by the adequacy of capacity of public bus transport services, orderly and clean environment inside buses, elegant design of buses and bus stops, and accessibility to public bus transport services in the city. The study thus provides a direction for public bus transport administration in the city to understand the gaps that exist and try to fill them to improve its services so that passenger satisfaction can be enhanced and consequently more people can be attracted towards public bus transport.

This study aims to find success factors for succession in family-based MSMEs in MSMEs in Surabaya, Indonesia, where Surabaya is a metropolitan city that allows entrepreneurs to develop and be sustainable for the next generation of family businesses. The research method used is factor analysis which is an analysis technique that forms the latent variables that have not been determined before the analysis, the results of anilisation will find any factors that influence the success of succession in MSMEs. Sample in this study amounted to 100 MSMEs of family businesses that could be met in Surabaya or incidental sampling, while respondents in this study were second generation family business owners. The method of data collection is a survey with a questionnaire instrument that has been tested for validity and reliability. The data analysis technique used is the Principal Component Analysis Factor Analysis with SPSS software. The results of this study found that six factors that determine the success of succession in MSMEs in the city of Surabaya are succession preparation procedures, successor characteristics, readiness of previous generations, communication in the succession process, relationships between family members, and introduction to the business environment. This research is expected to provide references on the sustainability of family business to the next generation in the city of Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia.

The objective of this paper was to show that the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) quantitative technique is capable of grouping complex variables in correlation groups from qualitative research. Thus, the study proposes a set of indicators for evaluating the production area in electro-electronic transformation industries in the city of Curitiba and Metropolitan Region, under aspects of environmental, social and economic sustainability. By employing the technique, it was observed that the questions were well formulated and truly measured what was proposed by the researchers. However, the way the variables were grouped needs adjustments to facilitate application of the questionnaire and the tabulation and analysis of data.

Chernoff Face Method is a method used to represent multiple variable data in the form of a cartoon face with 20 specific facial features. In this study, we will show how the use of the Chernoff face method to see a portrait of public health in the city of Padang. Health indicators will be paired with specific facial features of Chernoff's face using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The results of this study are expected to provide an overview of public health protection for each sub-district in Padang City and Padang City as a whole. Public transport business has been facing quite a few serious challenges. Indeed, public transport operators need to be more heedful of the changing mobility needs and passengers’ perceptions regarding the delivery of bus transport services in order to keep it profitable.  With the prevailing conditions of city buses, as they are, bus transport may not suit the needs of most passengers, especially car users. The aforementioned scenario provided the rationale to conduct this study in 5order to assess the satisfaction of users regarding bus services in three regions of Johor Bahru, Malaysia. A total of 225 samples was evaluated to form the level of satisfaction based on 7 main attributes of bus service-quality as reported by 3 income groups. The perception towards the bus service-quality were obtained and corresponding level-of-satisfaction were analysed. The variability between different user groups’ relative level-of-satisfaction with respect to bus quality attributes was examined using SPSS statistical software. The disputes and agreements between passengers were critically examined to obtain a final rating of service quality attributes. The results revealed that users are very disappointed with the punctuality of  bus service and inability of the operators to provide a tentative timetable for the operation schedules. Passengers of public transport were satisfied with the number of days of operation and the available bus facilities. The study also indicated that the reliability provided by the operators is quite different from what passengers expect

Provision of public toilets is not merely a matter of utilizing land, but it is an essential component of design and planning. Inadequate provision of accessible public toilets in the city of Lahore in Pakistan, is not only affecting the quality of the city but is also discomforting its residents. To examine the current status of the public toilets and the major causes of open defecation, a survey of four hundred respondents in different public places of Lahore city was conducted, along with a review of various polices in place with regards to public toilet provision. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) established a comprehensive set of features responsible for achieving an effective solution to provision of public toilets, which ranged from accessibility, to availability, cleanliness, maintenance and safety. The paper reveals that the availability and cleanliness of public toilets should be ensured at potential urban spaces, as that can contribute to healthy and accessible environment for citizens and make cities sustainable and livable. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine factors influencing service quality of the property managers to the occupiers of shopping complexes in Ibadan, Nigeria. This was with a view to providing information that could enhance property management practice. Design/methodology/approach Primary data were used for the study. The study area was stratified into five axes using major roads where shopping complexes were highly concentrated. Systematic sampling technique was used to select 139 out of 276 shopping complexes in the study area. The data obtained were analyzed using mean ranking and principal component analysis. Findings The study found that ineffective employee’s compensation, high employee turnover, lack of continuous improvement culture, inadequate use of employee empowerment, inadequate staff, lack of teamwork, inability to see tenants as customer, lack of motivation, education and training of the property managers and poor planning among others were the most significant factors influencing service quality of the property managers using mean ranking. The study further found that professional and empowerment factor, teamwork and motivation factor, customer related factor, work volume and operation factor, skills and job satisfaction factor, top-management commitment factor, experience and communication factor as well as financial factor were the factors influencing service quality of the property managers using principal component analysis. Practical implications This study will aid the property managers of shopping complexes in identifying areas which needed to be improved upon in order to provide quality service to occupiers thereby enhancing tenant retention and loyalty. Originality/value Previous studies on factors influencing service quality have been focusing on hospitality, healthcare, real estate agency and library industries. This study is one of the very few studies that examined factors influencing service quality of property managers of shopping complex. Also, the paper underlines the need for property managers of shopping complexes to give required attention to factors influencing service quality for enhanced property management practice.

Background: The Intermittent Claudication Questionnaire (ICQ) is a short questionnaire for the assessment of health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in patients with intermittent claudication (IC). The objective of this study was to translate the ICQ into German and to investigate the psychometric properties of the German ICQ version in patients with IC. Patients and methods: The original English version was translated using a forward-backward method. The resulting German version was reviewed by the author of the original version and an experienced clinician. Finally, it was tested for clarity with 5 German patients with IC. A sample of 81 patients were administered the German ICQ. The sample consisted of 58.0 % male patients with a median age of 71 years and a median IC duration of 36 months. Test of feasibility included completeness of questionnaires, completion time, and ratings of clarity, length and relevance. Reliability was assessed through a retest in 13 patients at 14 days, and analysis of Cronbach’s alpha for internal consistency. Construct validity was investigated using principal component analysis. Concurrent validity was assessed by correlating the ICQ scores with the Short Form 36 Health Survey (SF-36) as well as clinical measures. Results: The ICQ was completely filled in by 73 subjects (90.1 %) with an average completion time of 6.3 minutes. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient reached 0.75. Intra-class correlation for test-retest reliability was r = 0.88. Principal component analysis resulted in a 3 factor solution. The first factor explained 51.5 of the total variation and all items had loadings of at least 0.65 on it. The ICQ was significantly associated with the SF-36 and treadmill-walking distances whereas no association was found for resting ABPI. Conclusions: The German version of the ICQ demonstrated good feasibility, satisfactory reliability and good validity. Responsiveness should be investigated in further validation studies.
