Contrast- induced nephropathy (CIN) is an elevation of serum creatinine of ≥ 0.5 mg/dL from baseline after two to three days of exposure to contrast substance if there is no other cause for acute kidney injury. Atorvastatin may protect normal kidney physiology from contrast- induced kidney injury by effects unrelated to hypolipidemia termed pleiotropic effect by decline of endothelin production, angiotensin system down regulation, and under expression of endothelial adhesion molecules. This study was conducted to assess the strategy by which atorvastatin can achieve protective effect for kidneys after exposure to contrast media in an animal model. A 40 male rats were distributed randomly into 4 groups; ten rats for each: group (1): given normal saline; group (2): CIN group given iopromide as contrast media; group (3): given atorvastatin (20mg/kg) and iopromide; and group (4): given atorvastatin (40mg/kg) and iopromide. Blood collected by cardiac puncture for detection of serum glutathione, malondialdehyde, matrix metalloproteinase-9, and interleukin-18. The results have shown a significant increase in inflammatory and oxidative stress markers in contrast media group, and significant reduction in these markers in atorvastatin treated groups, in a dose-dependent manner. As conclusion, atorvastatin mechanism for protection against CIN in a dose-dependent manner can mediate by anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.

Stellaria ruderalis is an annual (semi)ruderal species from the S. media group, which has been recently published by Lepší et al., therefore, its distribution range in Europe is insufficiently known. This paper is based on field exploration of 39 localities of S. media s.l. in the Lviv region, Western Ukraine. The first report of S. ruderalis in Ukraine comes from Dmytre village, where it grows at roadsides and arable field edges in a semiruderal habitat of the alliance Aegopodion podagrariae. As only a single population was found, Stellaria ruderalis is obviously still spreading in Western Ukraine, a fact which was reported already for northern Central Europe. This record represents the northeasternmost locality of the species so far known.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), in common with other competition authorities, strongly favours structural remedies (i.e. business or asset disposals) as the most effective means to restore competition eliminated by a merger. Behavioural remedies (i.e., measures that seek to regulate the ongoing behaviour of the merger parties) are not generally favoured by the CMA. In considering the effectiveness of proposed remedies, the recent judgment in Ecolab v. CMA demonstrates that the CMA is afforded a wide margin of appreciation. That same margin of discretion was notably exercised by the CMA in the Bauer Media Group Inquiry where, contrary to conventional practice, it accepted a complex behavioural remedy in preference to structural alternatives. This article explores these two cases in greater detail and identifies some key factors that inform the CMA's conduct in relation to merger remedies.

This chapter features and analyses a text published on 24 January 2018 via a social media group affiliated with the Islamic State’s central media office. The text, an e-book titled Advice for the leaders and soldiers of the Islamic State, was attributed to Abd al-Munim bin Izz al-Din al-Badawi, better known as Abu Hamzah al-Muhajir, the former prime minister and minister of war for the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI). First officially published in Arabic and made available online by the organization’s printing press, the Himmah Library, in the Hijri year 1428 (which spanned the Gregorian year 2007), the volume has two sections, ‘Advice for the Leaders of the Islamic State’ and ‘Advice for the Soldiers of the Islamic State’, which offer thirty pieces of ‘advice’ to leaders and thirty-one to soldiers about how best to pursue the aims of the Islamic State’s insurgency. The first half is the subject of this chapter.

Research on the investment value of enterprises has been a significant area, which the market investors and corporate decision-makers always pay much attention to. In this paper, Huayi Brothers Media Group, the leading enterprise of the film industry, is chosen as the research subject. The paper firstly targeted the difficulties of evaluating Huayi Brothers through analyzing its financial data. Then we used the improved grey prediction method as an absolute valuation model to estimate the cash flow, with relative valuation models, including PE, PB, PS and PEG, as supplements. From the results, we reached a conclusion that these two kinds of valuation models have a similar market value for Huayi Brothers at about 40 billion, which should be reliable when compared with the current average value, about 39 billion, evaluated by 13 official valuation mechanisms. What’s more, the share price of Huayi Brothers in the bull market in 2015 is far higher than the reasonable range of value, and thus we advised that short-term investors have better not make an investment on Huayi Brothers until its share price is in a reasonable range.
