Effective medical communication is an extremely important aspect of patient-centered medicine. It allows for achieving better treatment outcomes and is of key importance in the case of patients experiencing mental problems. Research clearly indicates that the quality of communication is a fundamental element of medical services, which not only affects patient satisfaction, but can also reduce the risk of burnout among staff who have contact with patients. A sense of mutual understanding translates into trust and contributes to more conscientious adherence to medical recommendations. Considering the cooperation of all medical and non-medical personnel, high-quality communication reduces the risk of tensions and conflicts, as well as the number of complaints reported by patients. Both research findings and our own experience show that individuals with mental disorders often feel misunderstood, stigmatised, or ignored by healthcare personnel. Based on the above assumptions, the experts from Józef Babiński Specialist Hospital in Kraków developed their own program entitled “Communication in the Treatment Process.” It was implemented in 2018 by the Ministry of Health among over 2,500 professionals in the Małopolskie and Podkarpackie provinces. The aim of the project was to improve the communication skills of medical and non-medical personnel in the context of communication with patients with mental disorders. The paper describes in detail the theoretical background, the goals, and the course of the program.

Much has been written about the patient experience, but there is little information about experiences of providers as patients. Since lay patients and providers have differing perspectives and expectations, it is important to identify those elements shared by those in each group and those that diverge. This study identified experiences of nurses as being a patient or a family caregiver of a patient as well as identified assessments of the healthcare system by nurses. An exploratory study using a self-administered electronic questionnaire with a group of registered nurses was conducted. Assessments of the system by responders were positive when addressing quality of care, interactions among healthcare personnel, and interactions with patients. However, when discussing their experiences as patient, nurses reported they encountered problems with coordination of care, responses of medical personnel, attention to details of care, and responses to their attempts to become more involved. Results confirm issues raised by patients who are not medical experts in patient satisfaction studies. Adding a professional perspective highlights where problems with the healthcare system lie.

Experiences drive loyalty, satisfaction, and advocacy, and the experiences that patients, caregivers, and employees in healthcare can be explicitly measured and correlated with important outcomes for the industry and the organizations that deliver care. As the industry strives to embrace patient-centered medicine, especially now in complex times, experiences are being tested and are more important than ever to realize improved patient quality of care and employee focus on patient outcomes. In addition to the findings of our research in patient and employee experience, this paper highlights insights from other industries that can be leveraged in healthcare to set a new bar in experiences that drive the outcomes that matter.

Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) measures are used to assess the multifaceted impact of disease, and determine the utility and associated disability. In addition, the impact of medical interventions must be assessed by psychometrically robust HRQOL measures based on a comprehensive and dynamic model. To develop such a model, the concepts of life, its quality, domains, essence, and purpose must be properly and clearly understood. The correct understanding of these entities is specifically important for patient-centered medicine and has universal implications for all fields of human endeavor. Therefore, in order to explore questions about life and quality of life adequately, every necessary field of knowledge should be employed. A multilinguistic and etymological appraisal reveals that life is related to medicine, freedom, being, soul, and spirit, all of which must therefore be considered in its conceptualization.

The possibilities for pharmaceutical care in the recovery of patients with post-COVID syndrome in the context of a patient-centered approach have been explored. The global COVID-19 pandemic has necessitated a reorientation of the concept of providing healthcare to patients with COVID and post-COVID syndrome in patient-centered treatment and rehabilitation. Maximum recovery in holistic practice adopts a broader view of the patient’s health, disease and treatment process. Applying a patient-centered approach to patients who have had a coronavirus infection will lead to many benefits, both in terms of the quality of health and pharmaceutical care, and in increasing their satisfaction with their quality of life.

Communication between the doctor and the patient is one of the most important elements affecting the treatment process. The trust, which determines the patients’ health attitude and their implementation of medical recommendations, is built by maintaining an appropriate doctor-patient relationship. A trusting patients demonstrate better mental and physical well-being, obtain better diagnostic results, use preventive healthcare services more frequently, and show greater confidence in the overall health system. Nevertheless, in order for the patients to exhibit such behaviors, they must trust the physician, which is influenced by many important issues: the maintenance an appropriate doctor-patient relationship, the patients’ hope, the prevailing opinion about the physician as well as stereotypes about the medical profession (including age, gender, professional experience, professional and scientific title). This paper presents different models of the doctor-patient relationship and how each of them affects the level of trust in the discussed relationship. In addition, it is described how stereotypes about medical personnel influence the trust among patients. All information included in the study are based on the available literature.

Introduction: A barrier to local investigator-led research in low income settings, is the limited availability of personnel with appropriate research skills or qualifications to conduct the type of research required for evidence-informed policy making to improve access and quality of health care. In response to this, Fiji National University’s College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences in Fiji, collaborated with academics based at the University of Auckland, New Zealand to deliver a series of research capacity development workshops in Fiji. Methods: Participants who attended any of the nine workshops (n=123) were contacted via email to take part in a brief survey regarding their perceptions of the effectiveness of the research capacity building workshops. Of the possible 123 participants, 80% (n=76) completed the questionnaire.  Results: Findings demonstrate that the majority of participants reported that they had gained research skills from the workshops (75%) including proposal development skills (68%) and knowledge of appropriate research methods (59%). Furthermore, 70% agreed that the workshops built their research confidence.  Since attending a workshop, 18% of respondents had successfully applied and received funding for research grants and/or fellowships.  Barriers to conduct research included workload (75%), lack of research knowledge, experience or skills (51%), and lack of institutional support (41%). Suggestions for future workshops included: more focus on data analysis, regular courses rather than ‘one offs’, and preparation of research findings (e.g. publications). Conclusion: Our findings indicate that research workshops of this nature may increase individual research capabilities but sustained, locally led initiatives, backed by institutional and supplementary technical support are essential.

The accuracy in administering the diagnosis code was the important matter for medical recorder, quality of data was the most important thing for health information management of medical recorder. This study aims to know the coder competency for accuracy and precision of using ICD 10 at X Hospital in Pekanbaru. This study was a qualitative method with case study implementation from five informan. The result show that medical personnel (doctor) have never received a training about coding, doctors writing that hard and difficult to read, failure for making diagnoses code or procedures, doctor used an usual abbreviations that are not standard, theres still an officer who are not understand about the nomenclature and mastering anatomy phatology, facilities and infrastructure were supported for accuracy and precision of the existing code. The errors of coding always happen because there is a human error. The accuracy and precision in coding very influence against the cost of INA CBGs, medical and the committee did most of the work in the case of severity level III, while medical record had a role in monitoring or evaluation of coding implementation. If there are resumes that is not clearly case mix team check file needed medical record the result the diagnoses or coding for conformity.
