Amictus pictus Loew, 1869 (Insecta: Diptera: Bombyliidae) is recorded here for the first time from Iran. The specimens were collected from northern Iran during 2010 and 2011. Morphological characters including female genitalia and geographical distribution of the newly recorded species are provided.

The genus Cononedys Hermann, 1907 and its species, C. bituberculata Becker, 1915 are recorded for the first time from Iran. Specimens were collected with Malaise traps from northern Iran. Morphological characters including the first description of the female spermatheca and also geographical distribution of the newly recorded species are provided.

ABSTRACT. Carpocoris pudicus Poda (1761) are small sized stink bugs belonging to order Heteroptera. (Carpocorini). The species first time collected in Hyderabad Sindh during 2015. The Carpocoris Pudicus causes a remarkable loss to different crops and weed leaves and seeds i.e., vegetables and crops were tomatoes, coriander, wheat, rice, maize, pulses, and weeds. A total of 191 individuals 67 males and 124 females were collected from four localities of Hyderabad region. The Body ochreous colour, with stripes on head, pronotum, scutellum and stripped connexiva. The species is redescribed on the basis of morphological characters, especially colour, shape of head, pronotum, scutellum, antennal segments, and internal male genitalia (Pygophore, paramere and aedeagus) and female genitalia (terminalia and spermatheca). A general description of C. pudicus is also given. The species of Carpocorini (stink bugs) is new record of Hyderabad region.

Species of the genus Homolobus Förster, 1862 in northern Iran were taxonomically studied. The specimens were collected using Malaise traps from March to November of 2010 and 2011. Two species, Homolobus infumator (Lyle, 1914) and Homolobus truncator (Say, 1829) were collected and identified. The former was recorded for the first time in Iran. Diagnostic characters and geographical distribution of the species are briefly discussed. An illustrated key is provided for identification of the Iranian species.

Rhacophorus is a genus of tree frogs in the family Rhacophoridae commonly referred to as parachuting or gliding frogs, distinguished by extensive digital webbing. A rare species, Rhacophorus translineatus Wu, 1977, was recorded for the first time in Bhutan. Information on morphological characters, geographical distribution, habitat and natural history notes is provided.

A taxonomic review of Rhaponticoides in Iran is based on morphological characters of the specimens from the authors’ expeditions and other herbarium collections. Rhaponticoides lachnopus, R. schmidii, R. sect. Iranicae and R. sect. Ruthenicae are proposed as new combinations. Full description for the genus Rhaponticoides and R. sect. Iranicae and R. sect. Ruthenicae are presented for the first time here. Three names, R. lachnopus, R. ruthenica and its synonym, are typified. A synopsis with recognized sections and species, relevant synonyms, type citations, lists of specimens examined and an identification key are provided for the genus Rhaponticoides in Iran. In addition, some notes about ecology and habitat of Rhaponticoides especially in Iran are given. Finally, the geographical distribution of all the 4 species recognized in Iran is presented and mapped.

We report new records of the White-Tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) in Brazil based on specimens deposited in scientific collections. These new records expand the known geographic distribution of the species in Brazil southwards in the states of Roraima and Amapá, the latter the first record of the species below the equator line in Brazil, and register it for the first time in the state of Amazonas. These records contribute to increase the knowledge of the geographical distribution of O. virginianus in Brazil and highlights the importance of museum collections as a source of biogeographic and ecological data.

Genus Porcellanola is reported for the first time from India with description of a new species, Porcellanola sikkima Joshi, Singh & László sp. nov., (Sikkim) along with the morphotaxonomy of two more species, P. sukhothai László, Ronkay & Witt, 2006 and P. langtangi László, Ronkay & Witt, 2006. Heteropanope glabraStimpson, 1858 belonging to family Pilumnidae is reported for the first time from the mangrove mudflats of India. The identification of the species is difficult because the species shares similar morphological characters with other closely related species likeBenthopanope indica(De Man, 1887). Studies in the past have reported the presence ofH. glabrafrom coastal areas of Burma to Japan. The present study reports the presence ofH. glabraon the western coast of India, which lies outside the old distribution range of the species.

Trichodorus variabilis, recovered from three separate locations in natural forests of northern Iran, was studied using morphological, morphometric and molecular data. Variation in position of the ventromedian cervical papillae (CP1 and CP2) with respect to the onchiostyle base in the resting position, and spicule characters (having or lacking striation in distal blade region and bristles in proximal blade region) were observed. Variation was also observed in the nature of the pharyngo-intestinal junction (offset to slight overlapping). The secretory-excretory pore of females also showed slight variation in placement. Molecular phylogenetic studies, using partial 28S rDNA D2-D3 sequences of three studied populations and one sequenced isolate of the species from Greece, revealed T. variabilis has variation in the sequences of this genomic fragment. The similarity percent of four sequences ranged from 96.7 to 99.7%. The species was found for the first time outside of Greece, the country from which it was originally described. A newly recovered population of T. persicus, originally described from Iran, was also included in the molecular phylogenetic analyses.

The assassin bugs of the genus Ptilocerus Gray, 1831 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Reduviidae: Holoptilinae) occurring in the Australian Region are reviewed for the first time, resulting in the description of two new species, viz., P. spangenbergi sp. nov. (Queensland and Northern Territory, Australia) and P. papuensis sp. nov. (Papua New Guinea). The latter species differs from P. fuscus Gray, 1831 (the type-species of genus Ptilocerus) in a couple of major external morphological characters, hence its tentative placement in the genus Ptilocerus is discussed. A key for the separation of the two new species is provided.
