ABSTRACT Objective: to evaluate the application of a noninvasive intervention consisting of a postural modification using personalized models and osteopathy in people with occipital neuralgia. Method: retrospective study of the intervention performed in adult population with occipital neuralgia, consisting of postural modification using personalized plantar orthoses and osteopathy, in a study period of four years. The observed variables were: persistence of headache, alignment of the axes, plantar support, center of gravity and center of mass; medical interview data, visual analogue scale, Win-Track gait analysis system and Kinovea software for video analysis (clinical assessment instruments used). Results: a total of 34 records of people with occipital neuralgia were studied. A fraction of 58.8% of the patients reported improvement after the intervention. The visual analogue scale data were provided for 64.7% of the records and significant differences (p <0.001) between the means before (8.4 ± 1.7) and after the intervention (2.6 ± 2.7) were found. Conclusion: postural modification using personalized orthoses and osteopathy substantially improves the symptomatology of patients with occipital neuralgia.

Objectives. Nocturnal bruxism can be managed by botulinum toxin (Botox®) in patients who have not responded to conservative treatment. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of botulinum toxin A (BTXA) in the treatment of nocturnal bruxism. Material and Methods. The retrospective study comprised 25 female patients, aged 23–55 years (mean 35.84±8.41 years). All patients received a single injection of BTXA in the right and left masseters. Evaluation was made by Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) values, complaint duration, onset of effect, and duration of effectiveness. Results. BTXA produced significant improvements in pain scores. Only 2 adverse events (8%) were recorded. Conclusion. BTX-A is effective in the treatment of nocturnal bruxism.

AbstractNeck pain or neck pain is a musculoskeletal complaint such as pain in the neck and stiffness that is often experienced by the community. Around 16.6% of the adult population in Indonesia complains of neck pain every year. To reduce pain in patients with neck pain, interventions can be given, one of which is Muscle Energy Technique (MET). This study aims to determine the description of pain reduction in patients with neck pain after accepting the Muscle Energy Technique (MET). Writing this article uses a literature review system using PICO. This article was obtained from searching the Microsoft Academic and Scilit online database with predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The measuring instrument used in the literature review is the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). The results of the literature review analysis of these 5 articles found that the results of pain reduction from the results of the pre-test were 6.13 and post-test were 2.37. So there is a decrease in pain after accepting the Muscle Energy Technique (MET). Muscle Energy Technique (MET) has an effect on reducing pain in Neck Pain cases. It is hoped that this research should be able to increase knowledge about the management of pain reduction in cases of neck pain after accepting the Muscle Energy Technique (MET).Keywords : Neck pain; muscle energy technique (MET); visual analogue scale (VAS).

A functional intestinal Flora, physiologically speaking, is an important indication of a healthy organism; therefore, it is an important ally for the Function of Defense. The study was conducted on an adult population from January 2012 to June 2013. 34 individuals were considered, regardless of age and sex, of which 23 females (67.6%) and 11 males (32.4%), aged between 27 and 62 (average: 43.9 years). For the evaluation of abdominal pressure- like pain and discomfort caused by other typical disorders of dysbiosis, a visual-analogue scale was chosen, according to the Scott and Huskisson model. The results of the study made it possible to verify - first of all - that intestinal dysbiosis is a disease with a higher incidence with respect to what clinical data does not allow to establish on the basis of subjective and objective symptoms. In conclusion, the study confirmed the validity of the treatment with ozonized water combined with rectal insufflation of oxygen and ozone mixture.

Abstract Background Submucous uterine myomas can be effectively and safely treated using microwave endometrial ablation (MEA). However, recurrence is common and requires additional treatment. This study investigated the efficacy of MEA combined with transcervical resection (TCR). Methods This retrospective study included 32 women who underwent MEA in addition to TCR for submucous uterine myomas at the International University of Medicine and Welfare Hospital between January 2016 and June 2020. All patients were followed up for ≥ 6 months after the procedure. Results The 32 women had a mean age of 45.2 ± 4.3 years. The myomas had a mean major diameter of 26.3 ± 12.3 mm and a protrusion degree of 51.3 ± 11.3%. The patients reported very severe hypermenorrhea/dysmenorrhea (10/10 points on the visual analogue scale) before the procedure. After the procedure, the hypermenorrhea scores decreased to 1.2 ± 1.3 and 0.9 ± 1.3 after 3 and 6 months, respectively (both p < 0.001). The dysmenorrhea scores also decreased to 1.3 ± 1.8 and 1.3 ± 1.8 after 3 and 6 months, respectively (both p < 0.001). Circulating hemoglobin concentrations improved significantly from 8.7 ± 1.9 g/dL to 13.5 ± 1.1 g/dL (p < 0.001). The mean follow-up duration was 33.8 ± 16.8 months and 10 women (31.3%) developed amenorrhea during this period, although none experienced recurrence of hypermenorrhea. No surgical complications were observed. The patients reported being highly satisfied with the ability of the combined treatment to relieve hypermenorrhea (mean visual analogue scale score: 9.5 ± 0.8). Conclusion Reducing the size of uterine fibroids via a combination of MEA and TCR can safely and effectively treat hypermenorrhea in patients with submucous myomas. Furthermore, the procedure’s effectiveness is complemented by the patients’ high satisfaction level.
