The quality of products represents one of the key aims of any modern organized production. In the production practice, it is essential to establish the optimal relationship between quality, production economy and delivery deadlines. Furniture quality is evaluated by three levels and they are: basic quality, high quality and especially high quality. The results presented in this paper are based on the sample measurements of chairs and tables during 2007 and 2008 at the Institute for Furniture Quality Control.

Since ancient times and for hundreds of years, grain mills, hammers, sawmills, spinning mills, and hemp rollers have been powered by water wheels. In the nineteenth century there were hundreds of thousands of mills in all of Europe. It is an enormous historical and cultural heritage of inestimable value, which is for the most part, abandoned today. Recently, there is a renewed interest in their reuse, both for their widespread diffusion in the territory and for the excellent environmental integration and intrinsic sustainability. Even when, for economic reasons, their recovery for the original tasks is not suitable, the conversion into mini plants for the production of electricity can be advantageous. In the paper, analyzing some typical examples of the old water mill of the Piemonte region, in North-West of Italy, the mechanical architecture of old water mill, from water wheels to millstones, is described and the functional details of various mechanisms are provided. In fact, by knowing only the specifics of the ancient mills, it is possible to enhance their potential and restore them from the perspective of a renewed high quality production, or reconvert them in mini-plants for the production of electricity.

The fulfillment of a number of the most important physiological functions of the skin is directly related to skin lipids. This article presents the results of studying the lipid-containing and lipid-synthesizing structures of the young Poltava Meat Breed boars’ skin. Morphofunctional epidermis features, sebaceous glands and adipose tissue cells of the hypodermis and their relationship with other skin structures were studied. The boars of Poltava Meat Breed, upon reaching the live weight of 100 kg, have certain specific features of skin structure, which plays an important role for developing efficient methods of selectioning, breeding and keeping the animals, which would raise the functional abilities of highly productive animals and help obtaining high-quality production from them.

The relevance and content of technological regulation of production processes with continuous monitoring of changes in soil characteristics in areas of high-temperature permafrost due to the extremely unstable state of the roadbed during the work are substantiated. Aim: Formation of a technical and technological system that operates on the principles of direct and feedback between the characteristics of geotechnical structures and the parameters of construction equipment for the most efficient and high-quality production of works. Methods: Methods of technological regulation for the purpose of reducing soil moisture at the stage of freezing water accumulation at the base of the mound being built are proposed. Conclusion: The expediency of using opto-fiber cable for monitoring the state of the roadbed as a continuous sensor along the length of the route that can register changes in soil properties during the construction of Railways is shown.

The use of digital and satellite information systems for the increase of quality and prompt maintenance and repair of rolling stock allows solving important transport tasks. On the modern stage the transportation process sets high requirements to operation of rolling stock that should be regulated by state standards. Modern machinery and technology should promote implementation of high-quality production in order to extend the life cycle of any product that responds the realization of production process. The international practice of standard application convincingly proves it. The paper proposes an organization of complex systems aimed at provision of operational reliability of rolling stock. The authors have determined possible reasons of non-compliance of the standards. As a result, they have set tasks on carrying out modern monitoring and execution of maintenance and repair.
