Sebaceous carcinoma of the vulva is a rare malignancy of the sebaceous glands, with potentially aggressive behaviour, that is usually found in the peri-ocular area. Nonetheless, there are sebaceous glands in the vulva and this diagnosis is especially rare, with only ten cases described in the literature. We report a case of 78-year-old female patient who presented with vulvar pruritus, previously treated with topical steroid and antifungal treatments, without improvement. The vulvar examination showed a visible yellow papule, 12 x 10 mm on the right major labia, which was biopsied and the microscopic examination revealed an invasive sebaceous carcinoma of the vulva, with an in situ component. We performed an uneventful excisional biopsy, followed by a subsequent margin widening. Three months after the diagnosis, she presented with the first recurrence. Two and half years after the diagnosis, she recurred with a larger lesion (13 mm) in the upper half of small right lip, more than 10 mm away from the midline. In a multidisciplinary meeting it was decided that the patient should undergo partial right vulvectomy with homolateral inguino-femoral sentinel node biopsy (one negative node). There was no evidence of recurrence one-year post-surgery.

Abstract: In the present study herbal Hair oils were formulated. Hair is one of the vital parts of the body and a protective appendage on the body and considered accessory structure of integument along with sebaceous glands, sweat glands and nails. Hair oils are widely used by the consumer of the cosmetic industries. The hair oil samples comply for the requirements of color, odour, PH, Viscosity, Density, acid value. Present investigation was undertaken to standardize the selected herbal hair oils on physicochemical parameters and some standard. Excellent results were seen in formulation prepared by boiling method of oils preparation technique. Diabetes mellitus continues to be one of the most common diseases often associated with diabetic ulcers. Chitosan is an attractive biopolymer for wound healing due to its biodegradability, biocompatibility, mucoadhesiveness, low toxicity, and hemostatic effect. A panel of hydrogels based on chitosan, collagen, and silver nanoparticels were produced to treat diabetic wounds. The antibacterial activity, cytotoxicity, swelling, rheological properties, and longitudinal sections of hydrogels were studied. The ability of the gels for wound healing was studied in CD1 mice with alloxan-induced diabetes. Application of the gels resulted in an increase in VEGF, TGF-b1, IL-1b, and TIMP1 gene expression and earlier wound closure in a comparison with control untreated wounds. All gels increased collagen deposition, hair follicle repair, and sebaceous glands formation. The results of these tests show that the obtained hydrogels have good mechanical properties and biological activity and have potential applications in the field of wound healing. However, clinical studies are required to compare the efficacy of the gels as animal models do not reproduce full diabetes pathology.

Background: Madras Red sheep is a well-recognized meat type breed reared only on free range system to yield tasty meat. The aim of this study was to determine the gross, microanatomical and ultrastructural details of the interdigital gland in Madras Red sheep. Methods: The interdigital glands were removed immediately after slaughter and subjected for gross morphological, histological, immunohistochemical studies and ultrastructural observations. Result: The results revealed that a well-developed tobacco-pipe shaped interdigital gland was present in all the four limbs which was composed of an orifice, excretory duct, body and bent or flexure. Histologically, wall of the gland was composed of epidermis, dermis and capsule from within outward. Epidermis was made of stratified squamous keratinized epithelium. Dermis was composed of dense irregular connective tissue with sweat, sebaceous glands, arrectores pili muscle and hair follicles were embedded within. The sweat gland appeared as group of tortuous tubules under scanning electron microscope. The oily secretion of the gland helps in maintaining the healthiness of foot during movement of the animal.

Background: Acne is the most common chronic skin disease affecting young adults and adolescents worldwide. A characteristic of this disease is the chronic inflammation of sebaceous glands leading to comedones, papules, pustules, nodules, and cysts. Topical and systemic uses of medicines are common approaches to treat acne. However, these medicines are associated with some adverse effects and increased microbial resistance. Objectives: We aimed to prepare and apply an herbal formulation containing several herbs with different effects on mechanisms associated with acne formation. Methods: In this study, 66 patients with mild-to-moderate acne randomly received a packet containing herbal medicine or clindamycin gel. The treatment period was two months, and the total acne lesions and acne severity index were measured every four weeks. After eight weeks of treatment and follow-up, the physician examined clinical outcomes and possible complications. Results: Decreases in total acne lesions and acne severity index were significantly different in both treatment groups (P < 0.05 in both groups). Although the herbal cream provided better improvement than clindamycin, there was no significant difference between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusions: The use of the herbal cream could be recommended for treating acne lesions due to few complications, greater patient satisfaction, and avoiding microbial resistance to chemical antimicrobials.

Pilomatricoma(or calcifying epithelioma) is a not common benign solitary tumor originated from outer root sheath cell of hair follicle or hair follicle of sebaceous glands. The tumor usually presents as an asymptomatic, hard, superficial located, and skin colored to reddish blue cutaneous mass. Most of the tumors are less than 10mm in diameter and adherent to the skin. Recently, 48-year-old man presented with cheek mass. The tumor was 2.6cm sized and located at the subcutaneous layer of cheek on CT scan. The tumor was clearly removed via transoral approach with buccal incision leaving no wound on face. The mass was confirmed as pilomatricoma on pathologic examination. Herein, we report our experience with literature review.

Intradermal injection of botulinum neurotoxin is a frequently performed procedure in aesthetic dermatology to improve facial skin tone, texture, fine wrinkles, and enlarged pores. In practice, botulinum neurotoxin type A is also used to reduce skin oiliness of the face. There is increasing evidence that acetylcholine plays specific roles in sebum production, suggesting that botulinum neurotoxin type A may reduce sebum production by interfering with cholinergic transmission between sebaceous glands and autonomic nerve terminals. Botulinum neurotoxins can also inhibit several pathogenetic components of acne development, suggesting that botulinum neurotoxins can be used as a safe and effective treatment modality for acne and other skin disorders related to overactivity of sebaceous glands. This review aims to explore the current evidence behind the treatment of facial seborrhea and acne with botulinum neurotoxin type A.

Acne is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease in adolescence. The involvement of cosmetically important zones inevitably leads to decrease in our patients' quality of life. This review considers modern methods of skin microbiota analysis, describes the microorganisms' composition in newborns and its changes during growing-up. Cutibacterium acnes (that dominates in the microbiota of skin areas with sebaceous glands) role in acne pathogenesis is described.

Skin is the natural habitat for complex bacterial, fungal, and viral communities (ecosystems). The microbiome of such communities is always in close relationship with the host genome, and the development of these ecosystems happens under the effects of morpho-physiological and immunological characteristics of the skin (sebaceous glands concentration, humidity, and temperature) and environmental factors. Metagenomic studies have shown significant diversity in skin ecosystems. Moreover, the role of commensal microorganisms in skin immune response modulating to various agents and, thus, its correlation with skin diseases pathogenesis is no longer in doubt. New probiotic and antimicrobial agents for external treatment have been developed according to these knowledges.
