Aim. To assess ergonomic properties of a long-term ECG monitoring device from the standpoint of its usability and reliability of data recording.Methods. Three generations of the long-term ECG monitoring device were tested. 86 volunteers (30 women) were recruited in a study. Over 100 ECG recordings were collected to estimate ergonomic properties. A set of measures to improve the ergonomic properties was recommended after each generation testing. After the upgrading, the device was entering the next stage. The overall study duration was 3 years.Results. The assessment of ergonomic properties of the long-term ECG recording device resulted in the improvement of the device case, universal electrodes, safe data transmission channel, and a user-friendly instruction manual. The software package for data processing was improved and allowed the introduction of remote data transmission to physicians.Conclusion. The device corresponds to all standards of ergonomics and usability. It received the Federal Health Care Supervisory Agency (Roszdravnadzor) approval.

The paper presents an initial concept of a flying object trajectory recording system employing a data recording algorithm (operating on the base of the raw recorded data) and radio transmittion modules. Operation of developed system is based on microcontroller Atmega, a magnetometer module, a gyroscope and acceleration meter, and a RF miniature transmitter and SDR receiver. The initial performance of application analysing and recording the data is provided. Moreover, subunits available on the market have been reviewed to select the modules dedicated to the system. A possibility for record-ing the transmitted navigation data was studied. Application of SDR receiver in combination with a computer application monitoring the data transmission channel up to 1 kilometre is described with the configuration of the system, and the schematic of measurement transmitting and receiving modules, and the surveillance of transmitted data quality. The basic algorithm of application using the received data for reconstruction of object’s flying path and prediction of a fall point is presented. Moreover an analysis is included for possible applications of the above mentioned system.

During recent decades, the elderly population has grown rapidly, and the number of patients with chronic heart-related diseases has exploded. Many of them (e.g., congestive heart failure, some types of arrhythmia) require close medical supervision, imposing a major burden on healthcare resources in most western economies. Telemedicine is clearly emerging as a viable solution for health care to become sustainable by enabling medical monitoring at home without direct professional help, which would greatly reduce assistance costs. Specifically, continuous or frequent arterial blood pressure (ABP) and electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring are important tools in the follow-up of many of these patients. A multipurpose (e.g. ABP and ECG) monitoring device that requires no medical assistance is highly desirable and would be of great value to patients. One such solution is presented and validated in this work. This paper presents the details of the proposed remote heart self-monitoring system, the testing procedure, and test results.

Because of the abominable working environment caused by the strong defense capability of hard target, such as high speed, high overload, high pressure, high temperature, dust debris and so on, it is difficult to obtain reliably the testing data during penetration of ammunition. Aimed at this problem, a testing method is put forward, which can deliver penetrating data in real-time using a flexible connecting cable to ensure the smooth data transmission channel. And its key techniques, including unlatching and releasing technique, flexible connecting technique, data recording/transmitting technique, are analyzed. The study will provide a practical and effective testing means for experiments of the penetration ammunition.

An abundance of diet therapies are proposed to treat chronic intestinal disorders such as the irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). These commonly either eliminate or restrict specific foods and/or food components, based on the principle that even trace amounts induce an immune reaction (e.g., elimination diets for EoE), or, in the case of restrictive diets, that individuals have a threshold level of tolerance below which symptom control will be induced. The low-FODMAP (fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols) diet for IBS is one example of a restrictive diet based on sound rationale, robust efficacy data, comprehensive food composition information that is publicly available in a user-friendly form, and, increasingly, longitudinal data to demonstrate the long-term benefits. To optimize patient outcomes, health care professionals must be aware of the risks, benefits, and clinical indications for the use of diet therapies proposed to treat chronic intestinal disorders.
