The paper includes definitions of elements of quantum IT referred to classical technologies of computation. It explains the principles of transformation of calculating algorithms to the domain of quantum computations using the optimisation and matrix calculus. Exemplary applications of classical algorithms are presented with possibilities of their realisation in domain of quantum IT. Autor presents some possibilities for using quantum algorithms in new computation technologies concerning quantum cryptography and data analyses with complex computations.

The paper deals with some selected elements of a designing process for a “quiet” mortar projectile. Basing on it a decision could be made if specifications of the design were met. Numerical computations have proved that it is possible to design a quiet 60 mm mortar projectile with the range of 1200 ÷ 1300 m and own mass 1.8 kg. Moreover, the strength calculations have proved that the projectile can be made of commonly used structural materials.

The paper describes analyses of soils taken from open shooting ranges to find pollutants in the form of selected heavy metals. Test samples were taken from closed shooting ranges located in Wloclawek commune. During the investigations the content of following elements was identified: Zn, Pb, Cd, Cu, Ni, Co, Fe, As. The characterization of investigated localizations was also made with evaluation of samples of soils according to the Regulation of the Minister of Environment from 01 September, 2016 on the assessment of ground surface pollution. Studies confirm the relationship occurring between the effects of carried out shooting activities and the degree of accumulation of selected heavy metals elements in the soil of open shooting ranges. Indications show that this is sometimes a very complex issue and if neglected it can cause in the future a serious threat.

Transformations of economies occurring in particular countries reduce the number of manufacturers producing the articles for the armed forces basing exclusively on national capacities of industry and scientific-research background. Consolidation and restructure processes have been used as remedies of defence sector for many years. Some of them are launched by the management boards and the other ones by decisions of majority owners, represented in the case of Poland by the State Treasury. A question arises, if the country defence sector could realise the hopes put on it, in present situation of the national defence industry and with its role in the system of national economy, and selection and quality of offered products, and the level of used technological solutions. Presented paper is an attempt to analyse the state of the Polish defence industry committed by authors representing two different subjects and directly connected with condition and building up the defence potential of Poland.

The paper includes basic information over the domain of quantum physics needed to understand basic principles of calculations and operations with the use of quantum computers. Questions of the unit of quantum information – qubit, and the Bloch’s zone are thoroughly explained. The paper is aimed to be an introduction into the world of quantum IT for persons beyond the quantum physics who want to use the quantum algorithms for their scientific researches.

Poland could have been one of pioneering countries in the domain of antitank guided missiles. Theoretical calculations had been completed, the first trials on the range were quite promising for continuation of the work. The direction of testing was developed, and the further stages of calculations and range tests were clearly defined. But the Artillery Central Testing Range in Zielonka was not prepared to continue the work alone. It did not have a suitable technical back-ground, and it wasn’t any production plant to prepare a relevant lot of missiles for testing. The Ministry of National Defence decided that the work would be continued by the ci-vilian Institute of Aviation in Warsaw which was ready to take the part of the leading agency. Despite many obstacles at the first trials a lot of work was made. At that moment the Soviet allies intervened to offer the ready antitank guided missile in October, 1961. Then the profile of the work had to be changed a bit, and finally the ambitious project had failed.

The paper presents a theoretical description of computer codes for solution of the major question of internal ballistics for a “silent” mortar projectile. The computer codes proved their usefulness by providing the characteristics of a shot for each correct configuration of the projectile and eliminat-ing automatically the solutions not complying with the accepted specifications. Additionally, the structure of the code facilitates the modifications of a system of equations and parameters of the model to assisting a designing process of other systems of firearms.

The paper deals with questions appearing at investigation of high explosive-fragmentation heads of medium calibre when the blast waves (BW) generated by the flying fragments affect the results of velocity of the BW generated by the head itself (HBW). A method used by the authors for protection of measurement sensors against destructive action of the fragments is described. Distribution of produced fragments regarding the sizes and in function of scattering angle was studied. Mean velocity of highest speed (2100 m/s) fragments was measured on the base of first 10 m. Distribution of HBW velocities in function of radius of propagation was measured.
