Handwriting is an important subject in primary schools, especially in the Early Years. The importance of writing skill is now seen as a debate with the increasing demand on children to learn technology skills to help them with 21st Century learning—how to write on the keyboard effectively. The topic is important because handwriting is an essential life skill to have with or without technology. In this study, I looked at the importance of both in the context of the qualitative case studies in three schools in Melbourne, Australia. The aim of the research is to explore how do students understand the learning of handwriting and keyboarding in schools? This qualitative case study employed a Thematic Analysis approach in which the central intention was to understand the lived experience of six Year 6 boys across three schools and their attitudes to writing and technology. In this article, I addressed the importance of teaching handwriting to primary school students, especially in the first four years of their school life from Foundation to Year 3. The findings suggest that teachers should continue explicitly teaching handwriting to their students despite the heavy reliance on technology in today’s lifestyle.

This research reports a qualitative case study in which university students’ career paths are analyzed through autobiographical interviews. Seventeen graduates of pedagogic sciences and business administration and management were selected. Our aim was to analyze the students’ adaptabilities and resources to cope with and adapt to changes during their transition processes. A deductive analysis of career adaptability was conducted. The dimensions proposed by Savickas and Porfely (2012) were carried out in order to assess adaptability: Curiosity, Control, Confidence and Concern. The results support the contribution of qualitative and narrative research in the study of transitions and career adaptability. The discussion focuses on the different presence of the four dimensions in each case and justifies the need of developing narrative career interventions at university.

This is a report on a finished research project that explores the cultural perceptions of children through tasks based on films in an English after-school program. This qualitative case study was carried out at a private school in Bogotá and it fostered students ́ active participation in the development of the classes and explored their cultural perceptions. The data collected revealed that this process of construction ofthe concept of culture was built by the learners from the different types of knowledge about the world, the practices, and the artifacts embedded in the community. As for the cultural perceptions that emerged in the data, these corresponded to the interpretations of students’ world and life experience.
