Background: Labour analgesia though widely practised is still not routinely administered to all parturients in India. We conducted this historical observational cross-sectional study to assess parturient knowledge and factors affecting satisfaction in those who received epidural labour analgesia; aiming at improving the services.Methods: All parturients requesting epidural labour analgesia have the catheter sited and the drug administered as per institutional protocols. A feedback form is given to these parturients, postnatally. The form consists of questions regarding her knowledge of and experience with labour analgesia, including her satisfaction score on a scale of 0 to 10. Author collected these forms and analyzed them along with information from the labour epidural register and the discharge summary.Results: The mean satisfaction score was 7.1 (SD- 2.28). 46 parturients (31.08%) had ‘low satisfaction’ (<7 score) and 102 parturients (68.9%) had ‘high satisfaction’ (≥7 score). The timing of initiation of epidural analgesia within the parturients expectations and adequate analgesia were two factors that were found to affect satisfaction scores, with statistically significant values (p=0.002 and p=0.006 respectively). Those with a very short or very long duration of labour analgesia, were more likely to give less satisfaction scores (p=0.023 and p=0.002). Only 30% of parturients had heard of labour analgesia in the past.Conclusions: In this setting good analgesia and receiving it on time are of utmost importance in those receiving epidural labor analgesia, emphasising the need for adequate analgesia and prompt initiation of the same.

Background:Care of pregnant lady during antenatal period is the key to reducing maternal mortality and morbidity during pregnancy and child birth and futher improving the growth and development of the newborn. Optimal weight gain in the initial 6 months is very essential. Therefore, study aims to assess antenatal, intranatal and postnatal factors affecting the growth of newborn child. Methods:A Community based cross sectional study was conducted twice – at delivery and second after 6 months. A total of 220 ladies delivered at QMH, King Georges Medical University, Lucknow between August-2016 to September-2017 were included. WHO Standards were used to calculate the deviation from normal growth. Data was entered in SPSS-23 and assessment was made for factors affecting the growth of newborn. Results:At the time of birth the weight, length and head circumference of newborn was measured. Normal weight, length and H.C of ±2 SD was seen in 91%, 88%, 94% males respectively and 87.8%, 97.8 and 73.3% females. Repeat measurements at 6 month age of newborn showed normal weight, length and H.C in 62%, 58% and 87% males respectively and 87.8%, 74.4% and 96.7% females. Multivariate logistic regression analysis of factors revealed that growth of newborn upto 6 months was significantly associated with exclusive breastfeeding (OR 0.161; 95% CI 0.053-0.492; p=0.001), Illness in past 6 months (OR 6.820; 95%CI 2.376-19.579; p<0.001) low birth weight (OR 0.101; 95% CI 0.015-0.665; p=0.017). Conclusions:Although adherence to the proper schedule of antenatal, intranatal and postnatal visits and care varies between individuals and over time, the factors can be addressed with periodic counselling and motivation of pregnant ladies and their families.

Objective: To study the factors related to the rate of retention of Thai paramedics working in emergency medical service (EMS). Materials and Methods: Data were collected from paramedics all-over Thailand who decided to renew their 5-year license and were registered with the National Institute for Emergency Medicine (NIEMS). The present study was a cross-sectional study. Questionnaires were sent out between March 1 and March 31, 2021 via email, using Google forms. Results: Three hundred eighty-two questionnaires were sent, and 281 responses (74%) were obtained. Most were female (61.9%). The average age was 26.09±4.44 years. Median employment period was two years. At present, 89% of the cohort were still working as paramedics. The majority expect to continue the job for more than 10 years (41.6%). Factors affecting the retention rate were having an income of more than 15,000 Baht per month. The retention rate for the higher earning group was 11.27 times greater (adjusted OR 11.27, 95% CI 4.37 to 29.09, p<0.001) than those earning less than 15,000 Baht per month. In addition, as the mean professionalism score increased, the retention rate increased 3.63 times (adjusted OR 3.63, 95% CI 1.53 to 8.60, p=0.003). Conclusion: Remuneration and professionalism were the two factors related to the retention of the Thai paramedics in EMS. Perceived challenges to retention include professional council establishment and the Health Profession Act. Keywords: Emergency Medical Service; Paramedics; Retention

BACKGROUND Usability is the keystone in the evolution of tablet technology in healthcare. The Ardoiz® tablet has been designed with a simplified interface for older adults. OBJECTIVE To assess the perceived usability and satisfaction of the Ardoiz® tablet. METHODS We conducted a mixed methods with cross-sectional study using System Usability Scale (SUS), satisfaction score and workshops, including geriatric patients, healthcare professional and caregivers. RESULTS Between September 25, 2019 and March 11, 2020, 58 participants were included in a cross-sectional study (including 38 patients, mean ±SD 85±6 years, 66% women), 26 in workshops (including 5 patients, mean ±SD 86.4±2.9, 40% women). The SUS was 74±12/100, the satisfaction score was 2.8±0.9/4, with 59% of satisfied participants with the use of Ardoiz® pads. The intent to acquire remained low with 18% (n=6) of participants who would be interested in acquiring the tablet. This tablet computer seemed to be difficult to use by geriatric patients and healthcare professionals, mainly because of its complex homepage. Nevertheless, former caregivers and healthcare professionals thought that the tablet could be of great interest to hospitals for leisure and medical use. The main feedback in order to improve the tablet is to simplify the home page with fewer and more static icons (without switching). CONCLUSIONS Notwithstanding the usability of the tablet, the intent to acquire of Ardoiz® tablet remained low. The interface should be simplified for older adults in order to improve usability and adherence. CLINICALTRIAL NCT04091152

Background: Good social climate and high work engagement are important factors affecting outcomes in healthcare settings. This study observed the effects of a program called Civility, Respect, and Engagement in the Workplace (CREW) on social climate and staff work engagement in a psychiatric ward of a Japanese hospital. Methods: The program comprised 18 sessions installed over six months, with each session lasting 30-min. Participation in the program was recommended to all staff members at the ward, including nurses, medical doctors, and others, but it was not mandatory. A serial cross-sectional study collected data at four time-points. Nurses (n = 17 to 22), medical doctors (n = 9 to 13), and others (n = 6 to 10) participated in each survey. The analysis of variance was used to evaluate the changes in the following dependent variables, the Essen climate evaluation schema (EssenCES), the CREW civility scale, and the Utrecht work engagement scale (UWES) over time. Result: We found no significant effects. The effect size (Cohen’s d) for EssenCES was 0.35 from baseline to post-installation for all staff members. Effect sizes for EssenCES for medical doctors and UWES for nurses were 0.79 and 0.56, respectively, from baseline to post-program. Conclusions: Differences in social climate and work engagement among Japanese healthcare workers between the baseline and post-installation of the CREW program were non-significant.

AbstractThe overarching objective of this study was to assess learning satisfaction among students and to determine whether online-learning self-efficacy was associated with online learning satisfaction during the emergency transition to remote learning. This cross-sectional study involved a survey distributed to 22 Saudi Arabian universities. The survey used in this study consisted of an online learning self-efficacy (OLSE) questionnaire and an electronic learning (e-learning) satisfaction questionnaire. A total of 1,226 respondents voluntarily participated in and completed the survey. Students in medical fields made up 289 (23.6%). A Kruskal–Wallis H test and a chi-square test were used to compare the student’s satisfaction based on the educational variables. Spearman’s correlation and multiple linear regression analyses were performed to assess the association between self-efficacy and satisfaction. The findings revealed degrees of satisfaction ranging between high satisfaction and dissatisfaction. The majority of students (51%) expressed high satisfaction, and 599 students (49%) reported experiencing a low level of satisfaction with e-learning. A comparison of groups with low and high satisfaction scores revealed a significant difference in the OLSE. High satisfaction was positively correlated with the OLSE domains: time management, technology, and learning. The OLSE regression analysis model significantly predicted satisfaction. It showed that the model, corrected for education level and grade point average of the students, significantly predicted e-learning satisfaction (F = 8.04, R2 = 0.59, p = .004). The study concluded that students’ satisfaction with the e-learning experience is influenced by e-learning self-efficacy. The study’s findings lead to the practical implications and identify the need to improve the remote learning, time management and technology self-efficacy to enhance students’ satisfaction.

University campuses are potential reservoirs of infectious diseases, but they are not in the research focus. It is obvious that the use of malaria preventive tools is extremely necessary in campus conditions in endemic countries. This study is the first malaria survey, conducted in a student campus in Tanzania. This cross-sectional study uncovered a surprisingly high prevalence of malaria history among students: 89,4% of 246 random respondents assume that they had malaria in history, among whom 145 (58,9%) suffered from the disease during the last year. And although students are relatively confident about the vector, parasite, and prevention measures of the disease, only 44,7% of the students use bed nets and 4,5% use a body spray or ointment daily. The others seldom use spray or ointment or do not care about the problem at all. This situation was found to be associated with two factors, financial and educational. Current results show that students are relatively educated on malaria, but they do not follow the malaria prevention guidance. It has become clear that at least proper informational propaganda of bed net use is required in Tanzanian university campuses.

The provision of social work service for cancer patients is facing many challenges. Therefore, this study aims to explore factors affecting the provision of social work services for cancer patients at the Vietnam National Cancer Hospital. This is a cross-sectional study that used 10 in-depth interviews, and three focus group discussions to collect data. Our findings showed that the factors such as specialized qualifications of social workers, available facilities, the network of social work collaborators, finance, and policy regimes hindered the provision of social work services for cancer patients at the hospital. Meanwhile, the financial factor contributed to promote social work services for cancer patients at the hospital. Besides, the demands for the provision of social work services for cancer patients were one of the factors that should be considered in the coming time. Our study suggested stakeholders pay more attention to these factors.

Introduction: The primary attachment figure is mostly defined as the mother, and studies focus on the mother. However, in many babies, basic attachment is just as good with the father as with the mother. It is seen that there are very few studies in the literature investigating the correlations of father-infant attachment relationships.. The aim of this study is to determine the father-infant attachment status and to determine the factors affecting attachment. Method: The population of the cross-sectional study consisted of the spouses of all puerperant women hospitalized in the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic between September 1, 2018 and October 1, 2018. The sample size consisted of 156 fathers who agreed to participate in the study. Father identification form and father-infant attachment scale were used to collect the study data. The analysis of the data obtained from the research was carried out on the computer using the SPSS 16.0 package program. Results: 156 fathers participated in the study. The mean age of the fathers is 33.64±6.49, and 38.5% of them have a bachelor's degree. 91.0% of fathers stated that they felt ready for fatherhood. The fathers' Father-Infant Attachment Scale mean score was 82.60±7.72 In the analysis, the difference between the variables and the total score of the scale was found to be statistically insignificant (p>0.05). Discussion and Conclusion: At the end of the study, the bonding process of fathers participating in the study with their babies and the factors affecting this process were evaluated and it was seen that the father-infant attachment scale mean scores of the fathers participating in the study were high and were similar to other studies. In addition, when the basic factors affecting father-infant attachment were compared with the attachment scale mean score, it was found that there was no statistically significant difference.
