Background: Hypospadias is a common congenital anomaly in which the anterior urethra is incompletely developed and does not extend to the tip of the glans penis. The present study was aimed to study clinical profile of hypospadias cases at a medical college hospital of southern Gujarat.Methods: This prospective study was conducted at a tertiary care hospital of South Gujarat, India including 32 patients of hypospadias. Data collected for each patient included age, sex, demography, and major symptoms, duration of symptoms and relevant past and treatment history.Results: Out of 32, 9 (28%) patients are between 4 years to 6 years of age and mean age of presentation of patients of hypospadias is 7.55 years. Twenty seven (84%) patients of Hypospadias were associated with prepucial hood, 17 (53%) patients of Hypospadias were associated with meatal stenosis, 6 (19%) patients of hypospadiasis were associated with severe chordee and 2 (6%) patients associated with narrow urethral plates.Conclusions: T Most cases of hypospadias were presented at age 9 years and below. Most common type of hypospadias was coronal and distal penile followed by penoscrotal type. Hypospadias was associated with prepucial hood (84%), meatal stenosis (53%), Chordee (19%) and narrow urethral plates (6%) out of total cases. Hypospadias was associated with undescended testis, bilateral retractile testis, cervical rib, mental retardation and microcephaly with mental retardation, squint and bifid tongue.

From late December’19 till the end of August 2020, in this nine months period, world has lost more than eight hundred thousands people due to COVID-19 pandemic. Clinical data on COVID-19 in Bangladesh is less. The objective of our study was to evaluate demographic and clinical profile with in a defined period among COVID-19 Bangladeshi Patients in a Tertiary Care Private Medical College Hospital of Dhaka. We conducted a retrospective descriptive study on epidemiological & clinical profile along with short term treatment outcomes of 190 COVID-19 patients from COVID dedicated unit of Popular Medical College Hospital (PMCH) during the period of 18th June to 22nd August 2020 (2 months) with a pre-determined case record form (CRF).Among this 190 patients, mean age was found to be 53 years. Highest percentage of patients (44%) belonged to 41-60 years of age. Regarding gender distribution, two-third patients were male (65%) & one-third patients were female (35%). The predominant symptoms of our enrolled patients were fever (88%),cough (81%) , dyspnoea (58%) & fatigue( 50%). Around half of the patients had been suffering from Hypertension (54%) and Diabetes (47%). Almost half of our patients belonged to moderate severity (48%).The duration of Hospital stay was from 1-36 days, mean was 7 days. There was significant difference for severe and non-severe cases (p value 0.01). J MEDICINE JUL 2020; 21 (2) : 82-88

Background: Vesico-vaginal fistula can occur in different women with varied socio-economic condition. Objectives: The purpose of the present study was to see the socio-demographic characteristics of vesico-vaginal fistula (VVF) patients attended at a tertiary care hospital in Bangladesh. Methodology: This cross-sectional study was carried out from July 2013 to December 2013 for a period of 6 months in the National Fistula Centre in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Dhaka, Bangladesh. All patients who underwent surgical repair for iatrogenic VVF in National Fistula Centre of the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Dhaka Medical College Hospital were included in this study. Patients who got themselves admitted to Obstetrics & Gynaecology department of DMCH with the complaints of fistula. The entire selected patients were interviewed for detailed socio-demographic characteristics. Result: A total number of 51 cases of VVF were recruited for this study. The mean age was 46.02 (±SD 6.104) years. Most of the respondents were illiterate (55.0%) and one-third patients had primary level education. The number of highly educated patients was scarce (12.0%). It was evident that average age at marriage of the patients was 15.8(±4.74) years. Some females were forced to accept marriage at the age of 10 years. The mean interval between initiation of menstruation and the marriage was only 4.72 years. Mothers were on an average 17.48 years old at the time of first delivery. Conclusion: In conclusion middle age illiterate women are most commonly suffering from VVF.
